Rag n Bone's label need to send a check to HH, don't get why some labels send checks to Apple and invest a lot in there but zero on Spotify

they should send checks everywhere ;)

 

but it's true, now in 2021 you cannot write off any song, especially with TikTok and it's random generation of hits

some songs can take 1 month to be hits, others 1 years, others 25 years :D

I find as an Apple user they put most new releases on their hot hits list which is maybe why songs rise better on their chart whereas Spotify seem to have older songs on for longer.

 

Not disputing it’s the old payola at work but seems to be less restrictive. I mean following last weekends promo Raggyman has cemented his place at the top of iTunes and is getting decent support of radio 2! So it’s clearly a popular return even if it doesn’t rise on Spotify and peaks between 25-30 in the chart.

Yeah that's all very true, and I imagine he'll have decently strong album sales as well!

but I mean if the label has so much $$$ to throw on promo

and buy all these tv appearances, you might as well invest a bit on Spotify payola

Great Throwback Thursday on Spotify this week, don't think it has much of an impact anymore but it's all Iconic British Women. Lot's who barely get a look in these day high up on the playlist. 4 Jamelia 9 All Saints 11 Mis-Teeq 14 Beverley Knight 15 Mutya Buena.

 

Jamelia was brilliant, obviously Superstar and See It In A Boy’s Eyes are classics but I actually really liked the singles of her next album too (Beware Of The Dog, Something About You...) that got a more lukewarm response.

That Post Malone release was such a flop. Granted, it was only a loosie, but did his fans even listen to it?

As a Pokémon fan I gave it a curiosity listen and couldn’t make it past the 2 minute mark. I do like some of Post’s stuff too (more stuff like circles, not so much Psycho and that sound). Don’t think this appeals to either group.

 

Fingers crossed the Katy Perry Pokémon track will be more of an ear worm.

Who would have thought a throwaway cover of an old country song wouldn't become a huge hit ~
