Starting to think that Tom Grennan would have beaten Kings of Leon to #1 had he not moved his album back a week.

Gabrielle only gaining 300 sales on yesterday and Kings of Leon 5 times that in the same period.
I can - Olivia Rodrigo

I mean if I was forced to put my money on someone then yeah it would be Olivia but I still think it'll be really close.

poor KOL, sad to see

looks like #2 album won't even make 5K at this rate and that will be Dua, which is probably mostly playlist streams

Anyone else surprised by AJ Tracey? Of course the song has a chance to become a hit iver the next few weeks but it sounds instant and to be his best so far.
Thankfully, the UK didn't reach out for this tragic Mars song, boring shit, huge drop compared to the 24k songs.

I also thought the AJ Tracy release was interesting cos he's always uses either

big collaborations or big samples or both, so I was curious to see what a release without gimmicks would do,

which is not much so far :/

Rap in general doesn't seem to be as prominent in the chart as it was a year or so ago, though I guess that could be due to a lack of big releases?

Either way I think the recent chart popularity may have peaked

^I mean he just literally had a top 5 a few weeks ago with a collaboration

There's nothing I would like more than the end of the rap domination in the charts, if possibly being replaced by indie music

but don't think we're there yet despite the apparent underperformance of the latest Drake

Edited by Bjork

AJ Tracey released an EP a little while ago that made even less impact than this single has (to be fair I don't think any one single was promoted from it but the slowthai collab was the only song that charted at all from it and that was just one week in the low top 100). He had a good run of singles that were hits for a while but like most UK rappers his chart success is pretty inconsistent and can vary wildly from release to release. As Bjork said he had a top 5 hit just a few weeks ago, no reason he wouldn't be able to bounce back to have another big hit after this one.

I have a feeling the Silk Sonic song might grow into a bigger hit over time, it's holding up really well on Spotify so far.

Come on Nathan - up to #3 and #12 on iTunes now and a cassette has been released (We all know how a last minute cassette can make all the difference  )
Who the feck is actually buying cassetes though? Does it solely exist to try and boost sales in situations like this? Do half the people buying them even own a tape player?
oh if Wellerman is out as cassette => 100% sure #1 come Friday :D
I'm not sure, the cassette is £7.99 + postage which is quite expensive! I'm surprised there isn't a CD single instead, Dermot Kennedy sold his for Giants for £1.99. (and it was signed!)
