Not a confirmed thing, but in anticipation of their next era they have re-released two of their former albums with previously unheard tracks;

The additional remixes on the last dance were actually included on stomp all night - the remix anthology which came out in 2016.

It's rather random of Sony to rejig & add to The Last Dance's track list after 18 years!

B Sides & Album Tracks that weren't included in the track list of the original release of The Last Dance:

A Love to Last (B Side from Last Thing on My Mind)

Bittersweet (B Side from Words Are Not Enough/I Know Him So Well)

Human Touch (Album Track from Buzz - International Edition)

In It For Love (B Side from It's the Way You Make Me Feel)

Just Like the First Time (Album Track from Steptacular - Japanese/Australian Editions | B Side from Here and Now/You'll Be Sorry)

Mars & Venus (We Fall in Love Again) (Album Track from Buzz - US Edition)

Stop Me from Loving You (B Side from Chain Reaction)

Words of Wisdom (B Side from 5, 6, 7, 8)

Remixes that weren't included in the track list of the original release of The Last Dance:

[Previously available on - 'Stomp All Night - The Remix Anthology']

5, 6, 7, 8 (Euro Step Mix)

Better the Devil You Know (2T's 2 Go Mix)

You'll Be Sorry (W.I.P. Bach to Classics Remix)

[Previously available on - 'The Collection']

Better Best Forgotten (Nip on the Dance Floor W.I.P. Mix)

Chain Reaction (Graham Stack Extended Mix)

[These weren't included on 'Stomp All Night - The Remix Anthology' or 'The Collection', they're seemingly exclusive to this new version of 'The Last Dance' (in terms of compilation albums at least, some of these may have been on other releases i.e. CD singles]

Chain Reaction (Xenomania Edit)

Here and Now (Almighty Edit)

Here and Now (Sleazesisters Anthem Edit)

It's the Way You Make Me Feel (Sleazesisters Anthem Edit)

One for Sorrow (Tony Moran's Remix)

Words Are Not Enough (Sleazesisters Anthem Edit)

These tracks were all previously included on 'The Last Dance', and are still included in the new track list:

5, 6, 7, 8 (W.I.P. 2002 Remix)

After the Love Has Gone (W.I.P. Mix)

Notably there's two tracks from the original 'The Last Dance' that are omitted from the updated track list:

I Know Him So Well [it's now included in the updated version of 'Gold: Greatest Hits']

Mars and Venus (We Fall in Love Again) (W.I.P.) [it can be found on 'The Collection', even though it isn't tagged as being a remix]

--------------------

As for 'Gold: Greatest Hits', these tracks are new additions to the track list:

You'll Be Sorry (The Pardon Mix) [Also included on 'The Collection']

I Know Him So Well [Previously included on 'The Last Dance' / Also included on 'The Collection' and 'The Ultimate Collection']

Merry Xmas Everybody (W.I.P.) [This is the version included, even though it isn't tagged as being a remix / Also included on 'The Collection' and 'The Last Dance']

W.I.P. Megamix [Previously included on 'The Collection']

... and all the Karaoke songs, which were all previously included on 'The Ultimate Collection: Tour Edition'.

Rather annoyingly, You'll Be Sorry (The Pardon Mix) is missing the first 7 seconds of the track (on both The Collection and Gold)! A pity that Sony failed to notice this when they added it to Gold.

Well, isn't it just for streaming and downloading? I assume that doing this will essentially help "sales" for these compilations rather than to just have them scattered individually. My assumption is that they were going to put these tracks up on streaming either way, so might as well tack it onto some existing releases...

Happy to see some of those remixes available to stream, especially the Simon Hill mix of Heartbeat and the Matt Pop's Old Skool Mix of Say You'll Be Mine, although I have the Stomp All Night CD.

Did many of you buy the last dance when released or even since.

I purchased it back in 2003 when I randomly saw it in a HMV. It was the 2cd cardboard case edition.

I doubt that will happen, I'd say there would more chance of their first 3 albums getting reissued with extras.

That’d be amazing if they did that.

I got it as a Christmas gift, didn't even know it had been released!

  • 2 weeks later...

I did not as I wasn’t bothered at the time.

If I can find it online for a good price I might order it to complete my collection!

Steps have been celebrating Chain Reaction for the past few days. Not only did we get the music video in HD, but there's a few performances and bonuses:

The last video is the complete chorus choreography without any cut aways!

Here's an interview with the director of the Chain Reaction video! Also including a lot of unseen footage & outtakes from the video shoot, which is pretty amazing to after over 20 years:
