I think they'd have made a better job of quite a few other recent Delta songs like Wings for example, which has lots of sweeping disco strings anyway. They feel a little shoehorned in on this track.

Yeah, I was thinking "why not something like 'Wings'?", that would honestly be perfect for them.

This is fairly bland.

This is one of their worst singles in my opinion. So bland. Rather disappointed.
Just heard the new song. Not very good at all. Possibly one of their worst singles. What makes this particularly hard to like is when the original is far superior but it doesn't even stand up as being good enough compared to anything else on the standard edition of the album.
Love the single - sounds very PWL/SAW. Not their strongest release but still an absolute bop
I like the new single but its not as strong as the 3 singles released from the original album.
Jesus christ that "cover" is utter shite

I like it! They've given it a "Steps Scared of the Dark-esque" twist & the key-change is a moment, very rousing! It's not as good as Scared or Neon Blue, but this is more up my street than Story of a Heart.

I'm looking forward to the music video! Judging by the single artwork alone & mentions of a 'Deeper Shade of Blue' vibe, it sounds potentially great! I can also imagine the song really coming into its own live on tour.

As Delta songs go I'd say this one thematically & tone-wise is a great choice, it's dramatic/melancholic. Maybe they've misjudged how many of their fans would be familiar with Delta's version though. It's not as obscure as any of their choices for the original Tears on the Dancefloor track list, so for many fans this is more obviously a cover version. I'm sure the majority of their casual fans/UK public won't be aware though.

For me it's not too much of a jarring choice because I've barely listened to Delta's version since 2012 - I didn't feel too familiar with it 5 years on. Delta's version has beautiful vocals & a more subtle production, but it never fully grabbed me. Steps' take on it is more in your face, I like how they've transformed it... so I think I'll easily accept it as a Steps single and not have "this is a cover" in the back of my mind.

No surprise that 'Dancing With A Broken Heart' is absent from the Top 100 - it managed to reach #58 on sales only.
When they start promoting the re-release i would hope they get to perform and get the single climbing again. An official Top 100 entry would be a good outcome for them.
Bloody love the new song  I've no interest in Delta so never heard her version so for me it's a brand new 'original' Steps song ^_^
Dancing With a Broken Heart remixes are out today including 7th Heaven, Nathan Jain and an alternative Video Mix
Love the video - shame it's only an Apple exclusive at the moment as it will lose some of the impact (Not that I was expecting it to make sales of the single zoom or anything but they have restricted the audience by making it an exclusive).
It will limit the audience and with Steps, every single download and stream counts so it makes it even harder for it to do anything.

I guess they must have struck up a deal with Apple that is more beneficial to them than sticking it on YouTube?

How do you view the video?

^ Currently it's an Apple Music exclusive, so you either need to be signed up to Apple Music, or it's available to buy in the iTunes store. It'll be on YouTube when the Apple exclusivity is over, towards the end of October.
