May 25, 20214 yr 76.STARMAKER- Kids From Fame (88,000) #3 75.I WON’T LET YOU DOWN- PhD (88,000) #3 I'm not at all familiar with these those two songs, will have to look them up. Edited May 25, 20214 yr by Mangø
May 25, 20214 yr Those 3 are rather a mixed bag - the PhD one is decent, the Kids From Fame one is a schmaltzfest but iconic in its way, and the Flo Rida one is... Flo Rida
May 25, 20214 yr Would have been nice if AJ & Aitch had got a #1 with Rain, it's a decent track. GDFR is hardly amazing but better than that awful Sam Smith snoozefest, Years & Years deserved a second week at #1 there.
May 25, 20214 yr Ahhh I really quite loved GDPR (as a guilty pleasure) in 2015, I haven't heard it since so unsure if I'd feel the same now.
May 26, 20214 yr Author 74. SEE YOU- Depeche Mode (89,000) #6 http://i.imgur.com/5mrngkQ.jpg No 1 in 13 weeks in 1982 It must come as some consolation for Depeche mode who, despite 14 top 10 singles never made the Top 3 in the singles chart (meaning of course that The Saturdays instantly outpeaked them with their cover of “Just Can’t Get Enough”). “See You” also provides them with their highest ever weekly sale, for all that the band hate the promo apparently. zuWQitNlvf0
May 26, 20214 yr Author 73. WE LIKE TO PARTY- The Vengaboys (119,000) #3 No 1 in 13 weeks in 1999 In a year in which they managed two No 1 singles it’s perhaps not a surprise that the Vengaboys should feature here, this song failing to overcome the mighty “Baby One More Time” and the Comic relief single from Boyzone. No 1 in Belgium apparently- says it all. AfKoU6Mr0Gs
May 26, 20214 yr Author 72. CAN YOU HEAR ME (AYAYAYA)- Wiley Featuring Skepta, JME & Ms D (75,948) #3 No 1 in 14 weeks in 2012 Might be a Wiley (sorry) until we see him back in the charts but he has accumulated 7 top 10 singles so far- who knew. His knack of returning to the big 10 every two years hit the skids in 2014 but then we all know that he’ll never outdo “Wearing My Rolex”. zfvoFwOjIEs
May 26, 20214 yr Vengaboys really were robbed there, the song has certainly proved itself to be more iconic than We’re Going To Ibiza at least, if not Boom Boom
May 26, 20214 yr I had no idea any Depeche Mode single sold as much as that in a week! They were unlucky that wasn't enough to give them a Top 3 hit at least.
May 26, 20214 yr 'We Like To Party' is definitely the first song I think of when thinking of the Vengaboys.
May 26, 20214 yr I agree that We Like To Party is probably the Vengaboys most iconic song. I actually loved Can You Hear me back in 2012, along with Heatwave. Don't really go back to it at all now though.
May 26, 20214 yr We Like To Party is probably their most well known song, followed by Boom Boom Boom Boom.
May 26, 20214 yr 'We Like To Party' is definitely the first song I think of when thinking of the Vengaboys. I try not to think about the Vengaboys too often but when I do the first song that comes to mind is always 'We're Going To Ibiza'.
May 26, 20214 yr Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom is the one i still hear out and about the most personally, and has three times the plays of We Like To Party on Spotify, not sure about which is most popular in terms of plays just in the UK. Basically their 1999 output was classics/signature songs only up to Kiss (When The Sun Don’t Shine). Edited May 26, 20214 yr by gooddelta
May 27, 20214 yr Always weird seeing Dave Gahan with cute babyface and how he changed into a wild druggy up rockstar in the next decade around ‘Barrel of a Gun’ era! Edited May 27, 20214 yr by Smint
