I’m very sorry that I missed the listenthrough of this album, one that I in fact owned on cassette originally! :D

 

This is one of the purest pop albums I ever listened to in the 90’s, just so beautiful throughout, and I love that original eurodance pop music that Steps pioneered on this album. Some tracks are more forgettable I would agree, but overall I love this album by Steps, and I remember thinking at the time that the sequel album would be titled Step Two… but it was not. :lol:

 

Please do nudge me next time there’s a listenthrough for an album as I want to join very much!

Yes, i had the same thought as you when it was released, i was fully expecting steptacular to be called step 2 and possibly for that sequence to continue.

Not embarrassed to say I though that too.

That never occurred to me for some reason!? I thought the second album would be called "The Next Step" :lol: I love the name Steptacular though it's so fabulously cheesy (and ever so slightly tacky lol). :lol:

 

I've thought for so long Buzz should have been called Stomp as it kind of follows the step vibe in the titles that I've convinced myself it is called that and get it wrong all the time haha. Same for The Last Dance in my head it's called The Last Step. :lol:

 

I love the themology of the first 2 albums it's reminds me of Spice and Spiceworld (Forever always looks so out of place in album titles lol - I was all ready for the third album in 98 Spice Invaders!!)

 

Here's a throwback! Their Planet Pop special. This includes performances of Better Best Forgotten, To Be Your Hero and Tragedy from the Step One tour.

Step One was released 23 years ago today!

23 years on, it remains a very enjoyable album that holds great memories.

23 years ago it widely would have been laughed at if you said Steps would be releasing albums of high quality in 23 years time.

I still love step one, it was a great debut and for me most of the sings have aged very well.

Who would have thought! 🙈

Omg I want one sooo bad! I saw some fit guy on Popjustice in a vest top one and so wanted one! (The vest top that is, although wouldn’t say no to the guy too 🤣).

Ive always loved the cover of Step one so the clothing range is a great idea.

23 years? Wow! Time really does fly, I remember getting it for Christmas 1998.

 

It’s still holds up well today.

It holds up very well and captured what Steps were about which ties in with the Steps we today know and love.
