We're also finally getting to hear Girls' Nite Out along with This Is What You Need (never heard of this one!) and Always Be The One. :cheeseblock:

I hope vinyl / cd pre-orders go up today, plus maybe a tour annoncement.

Omg! I literally cannot believe this is actually happening. And 35 tracks on the anniversary edition; what a time.

The MNEK remix is also fantastic!! Hope this gets some attention from the general public.

I like the mnek remix but i guess its a little bit unsettling. What makes the original pop so much is the hauntingness of it all. Shocked to have sone sort of update on new music though. The girls really did say “right were going to go through with this”.
Do we know if they’ll actually be new vocals on the tracks or will they just be touched up with production?

I think they're just remastered and remixed since the Run For Cover vocal isn't re-recorded (I didn't expect them to do that tbh unless there's a live album release).

Ah fair enough, thanks.

I’d love to get some new recordings from them.

I am so tired right now I feel almost hungover. Got about 90mins of straight listening to RFC (MNEK) in before I decided I should probably try to get some sleep before sunrise.

Even with that I think I’m still more excited for all of this than I was when we randomly stumbled across the news last night. It was like the excitement of MKSmas (the Scala leaks) and the final set of leaks from about 10 months ago, all rolled into one but more so because there was like actual iTunes purchasing involved.

This absolutely must get a CD release. Im hella hyped like Tommie to hear the legendary „Girls Nite Out“. It’s been whispered about for as long as I’ve been a stan. I remember it being mentioned as a demo we knew of but had never heard back when I joined the sugababes official forum back in like 2006

New Year [2021 edition] is the one I reckon might be re-recorded vocals, if there is one. I had been hoping to get some re-recorded vocals maybe as a bonus to hear how their voices had changed but remastered and the new tracks will do nicely!!! The unremixed Little Lady Love is a nice and exciting surprise too

Missed that one! But yes, I imagine that it might've been recorded and I could see them re-issuing it as a radio single at Christmas to keep it going until 2022 (although looking at it, it says "non-Christmas version", hmm). Hopefully they'll have a set up plan to release a new single + album in Q1/Q2 of 2022. It does feel like they're ready to go this time around (or am I just being too optimistic lol).

It is a „non-Christmas version“ so I’m not so sure they’ll unleash that to radio at Christmas

Yeah I’m hoping that we get this release and then a gig or tour date for later in the year when we know it can probably go ahead (and when Keisha is back from Canada. She did say she’d be back when rehearsal starts so I reckon it’s nailed on for some form of gig). Then after this has put their profile back up they can launch new music off the back of it

I just saw that :kink:

I imagine that this is also testing the waters to see what formats are reasonable for them to release with new music. I can't see them not doing a vinyl edition of this and then maybe use the data they've gathered to decide what they'll do with future releases so they don't end up over-estimating demand and ending up losing money (I kind of assume they might be doing music on their own label with a distribution deal with London Records). A One Touch vinyl on the other hand can probably be shipped to various stores around the world since it has a larger appeal with Overload and such being on it.

I wonder if they will have anything to send to radio.

I mean they’ll have their fans behind them but surely they’d want to reach a new audience.

We don’t have an un-remixed version of Little Lady Love do we?

The Run For Cover remix seems to be some sort of promo track at this point, but I'm not sure if they'll end up sending anything to radio specifically (not that it's really needed tbh - I doubt they'd playlist 20 year old b-sides). Either way, I'm sure they'll play the RFC MNEK remix when they do longer interviews/promotional spots.

Good point.

It would’ve been nice to get a few extra 2021 versions of songs so they could send one to radio, like Radio 2.

Overload 2021 or Run For Cover 2021 would’ve been nice, or as a non single from 2000-1 Same Old Story 2021.

Can we have our forum back now please

Oh I miss the Sugababes forum! Hopefully this release will generate some interest and discussion around them again.

“He’s incredible,” Donaghy tells NME of MNEK. “We’ve been working with him in the studio prior to COVID and obviously on this remix – and it’s a relationship that goes back to the [unreleased]MKS record, so he’s definitely someone we’re going to continue collaborating with.”

Siobhan: “COVID threw a spanner in the works. We were recording before the series of lockdowns in the past year, but we’ve got so much material that we need to work through. We probably need to do a little more recording. As soon as we can get back together in the studio, we’re going to work on something fresh. But there’s a lot of material that I feel we should collate together because it’s some of our best work ever and it would be a shame for it not to be released properly.”

Keisha: “We recorded something quite interesting before lockdown that, for me, I haven’t felt that excited about a song since ‘Flatline’.”

“It’s hard to put a timeframe on it, but it’s something that can come together super-quickly with the right producer. Hopefully this anniversary will naturally bring everything together and it’ll get easier from there.”

Looks like they're working with MNEK, Dev Hynes and Joseph Mount from Metronomy?

Need.
