I've been able to get in a bunch of listens to Feed Your Love in the past 24 hours. I really like it. It's yet another testament to how often the girls and their collaborators were able to make magic during the Spice recording sessions. Would it have been too racy for Spice? I'm not sure I especially see it that way. The song's definitely about sex, but I'm not sure I would have taken away that it's specifically about giving a blow job without that being spelled out for me by Biff's past interviews. I'm not sure the world would have paid a ton of mind to the song in 1996...unless Mel B was blurting out what it was about in interviews or something.

 

In terms of the Spice album, I wouldn't want Feed Your Love to haven taken the place of anything already on the album. The ten songs there are already too strong. However, 12-track albums were a bit more common in that era. And knowing what they had available to them at the time, I actually think Spice would have been just as strong with Step To Me (probably placed after 2 Become 1 and before Love Thing) and Feed Your Love (after Something Kinda Funny and before Naked) included. 12-track album. Is that a controversial take? I don't think Feed Your Life is the great lost single, but I do feel it would have been a solid album track.

It’s not. We didn’t have any group picture or video from the girls. In that case, of course, the press is when it gets crazy and they all write about it. But it was also covered by Pitchfork, so it’s pretty ok for me. And Feed Your Love is amazing 😻

They got coverage pretty much in every publication going, as well as TV and radio all over the world. The only thing missing was indeed new photos/videos from the girls themselves, which is what usually drives the hysteria. We will most probably get that later for Spice anniversary!

He really is. He gets a lot of shit from the fans, which is sad, cos he does a lot for people! Plus, he knows stuff directly from the girls, and is always up for helping and clarifying when he knows the truth.

Definitely, when I missed out on the 1st batch of Emma royal Albert Hall single he messaged me when the 2nd batch went on sale, I said argghhh I'm at work and he ordered me one and we sorted a bank transfer and postage of it later that night when I had more time. Things like that are what being part of a fanbase should be like, helping each other and the artist.

It's actually lovely the magazine. Nothing we didn't already know but for casuals will be a nice read and give them a sense how big they were/are.
