Dismissing unreleased demos because they've leaked is ridiculous, as is dismissing a goodbye message you've never heard.

If that is your view don't ever listen to leaks and you won't have things spoiled.

I'm actually most interested in the goodbye message as I am really intrigued if it was originally meant to be track 11 on Spice and if it's called part 2 because there is a part 1 called hello that was meant to introduce Spice. That might have changed Spice a lot.

It shows the girls are pretty clueless as to what has leaked. Enjoy your 53 seconds goodbye message. The track sounds amazing when you wear your greatest hits pink bracelet.

- Mel B was on the breakfast show this morning and said that Spice tour is in 2023  I wouldnt be surprised to be honest. If it really is a World Tour, they probably want to really wait until they can properly tour to places outside of the UK and USA which are still dealing with the health crisis in a good way with restrictions, not like Biden and Boris' insane idea that restrictions dont matter....)

 I suppose it’s wise to be cautious, but a shame that it’s not exactly imminent!

But hey… if 2022 isn’t focused on them touring, then what a perfect opportunity they have to get back into the studio and record a new album!! … :drama:

Why would the Spice Girls care what has leaked and hasn't? They can't change it either way if it's out there unofficially that's not on them.

Also let's not pretend the average Spice Girls fan knows about the leaks. Yeah the 2k active posters on Spice circle might know about them but if they want Spice 25 to be a proper success then they need to get some of that hen party crowd that bought 700k tickets to SW19 to buy it and most of disc 2 will be completely unheard to them. Heck LLLTW was like a new track to a lot of them at SW19.

A life without LLLTW is a sad life. Best vocals ever (all four of them).

I agree with you. Of course, I wanted something more. Probably because of so many years of inactivity. But I’m supportive no matter what. What I’m pissed of is the lack of social commitment. Emma and Mel C are doing their best, also my lovely B. I wish there was a better strategy though. Is a video of all the girls together thanking the fan too much? No new photos, no special collaborations (for example, by having some current acts involved..

I don’t know. It screams lazy as always. But I want to think they’re saving some energy, money and efforts for something bigger.

Something random, but quite cute...

Spice 25th Anniversary edition has a moving cover on Apple Music, and surprisingly so does the original Spice album cover!

Here's what they look like:

(thank you to andru and worldspice on Popjustice, I read about this there)

An even more surprising thing to note about the original Spice artwork on Apple Music is that it is now UHQ! The file is 3840x3840. It's far too big to embed here, but if you click the following image it will take you to it:

SYWHDSDl.png

The original image link can be accessed here

It's a staggering improvement on the terrible scan that is sadly still showing on iTunes, Spotify, Deezer, Tidal etc. I hope they update the artwork everywhere. It's kind of strange that they haven't yet, surely they've not made this special effort just for Apple Music?

Anyway, for comparison, this is the image that is still used on iTunes and elsewhere:

EOuQGpxl.jpg

(Whoever was responsible for digitising Spice Girls' music in the 2000s absolutely did not care about image file quality lol. The Spiceworld cover is also in awful quality, as are most of the singles)

Regarding the new and improved Apple Music Spice cover, the eagle eyed among you may notice two things. 1) the Spice Ring is bigger on the new cover than on the original, and 2) there's a different font used for the 'GIRLS' text. While it's not massively noticeable, you can tell by the 'S'.

The alignment of 'GIRLS' on this new cover is also different to the original CD cover. On the original CD, 'GIRLS' wasn't perfectly within the length of Mel B's 'E' of 'SPICE' image... 'GIRLS' actually stretches out a bit, to the left. Whereas on the new cover, 'GIRLS' is more perfectly aligned. Finding this difficult to explain, but you can see for yourself with the above images. I've never actually noticed that about the CD before now. The odd thing is that the original 90s vinyl and cassette actually do have 'GIRLS' neatly within the 'E'... which makes me question if the designer made an error with the CD cover, or if that difference was intentional... (How nerdy am I sounding right now tbh x)

Oh and if anyone would like to use the HQ of Spice artwork for their iTunes, but with 'GIRLS' and the Spice Ring in the original font and dimensions, that now exists thanks to worldspice on Popjustice! Just click the below image for the 3000 x 3000 file:

Thanks Jay!!

FINALLY they have much better quality cover of that album, and I seriously hope they do it for the rest of their discog too. It's pretty awful, so Im very glad we have better and improved ones.

I dont care if the font is slightly different, honestly. I cant even notice it and the fact that it is more noticeable on only the S says a lot, but thats probably because I dont really care ah. Some of the fans on Spice Circle are doing a whole West End musical of drama about it and it's just a bit cringe. It's just a font, most people will recognise the whole thing and take it as granted, so whatever. Also, things evolve for different reasons other than just purely accuracy or aesthetically. It's fine that the font is ever so slightly different, at least it is of quality ah

You're welcome!

Oh the font controversy... I think some of you know that I'm on Team "the proper font matters" :kink:

Likely NewCompact, an early Mac Type 1 Postscript family of 4 fonts (with additional extended and oblique versions) created by David C. Saunders in April, 1989. A TrueType (TTF) version from 1992 is still floating around the web - most likely a slightly altered clone as it includes an Altsys Metamorphosis tag and no author credit to David C. Saunders. The E, F, and L, as well as some numbers, are (ever so) slightly different in the TrueType version. This is most likely the result of one of the following scenarios: 1) The original Mac version of NewCompact had these alternate characters available as extra glyphs but these were lost or altered when it was converted to TTF (a common practice in 90s and 00s font cloning was to copy a font but alter glyphs so as to circumvent legal ramifications), or 2) It was altered by a graphic designer for Spice Girls marketing and merchandise (probably to make the SPICE logotype more balanced).

See above post for Mustang Sans, a Spice Girls accurate recreation which features the wider E, F and L as well as more accurate numbers and punctuation.

https://www.dafont.com/forum/user.php?user=433042&p=1

The 'Spice' era font is actually a squashed down version of the original font - and that might actually have been unique to the Spice Girls. Spiceworld is the same font, but without the alteration.

I've always considered the original font to look so stylish and intrinsic. It just looks right to me. Whereas the knock off "eh, close enough" font is not as special/official looking, to me. It is of course the situation and I accept it, it's just a niggle.

It seems evident that with the passing of time, licencing has become an issue for this particular font, so their team continually uses "kind of similar" fonts instead to avoid the problem. Whether or not they've actually tried to be able to access the original font... who knows!

I just can't help but think it's quite funny how it was used for the Spice Girls in the late 90s, yet their team seemingly didn't have the ability to use it by 2007. Whereas the likes of The Beatles, ABBA, Queen - far older artists - there's no half measures for them, their branding is always on point.

Oh well, it is what it is!

In terms of archiving, it really seems that Team Spice/Virgin/whoever was responsible did a seriously poor job for the Spice Girls, with no foresight. The fact that the current team has has a serious struggle to track down original photographs in the highest quality, and instead for the most part have had to rely on scans and photoshop... that is another shame. At least I think it is!

The upcoming individual girl vinyl cover images are not using high quality images. In fact the designers must have had rather low resolution images to work with. They look like they've been enlarged in photoshop and they've tried to tidy them up to look decent. If you don't expand the images, they look fine. Expand the images on a computer and you'll see major issues.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll at least look passable on vinyl. Seriously, expand this image of the Posh vinyl on a computer and see for yourself how bad the quality is...

Maybe its my dyslexia but I still cant see a difference?!?!?

Sorry for being dense. Maybe this is why I dont care too much for it ah

The differences between the fonts? The S is the most noticeable, their 90s version is quite a unique way of that letter being stylised in a font, without the slope. The other letters are less obviously different, with those it comes down to the thickness of the letters / spacing differences.

That was the whole vibe of the record company AND the girls from early 2000 to be honest. They all collectively just didnt bother too much after Spring and then when the record failed to get #1, they all just dropped the ball ever since...

 oh my... thank GOD I only purchased two vinyls. I will wait for the actual outcome after release to check on the quality before purchasing more... what a shame...

Literally just spent a few minutes trying to work it out but cannot see it, but again it might just be my dyslexia.

Why would they release Spice outtakes on Spiceworld 25?

If the girls went through the archives and didn't find much worth releasing, then why didn't they release a rarities album with all the best stuff on it?

Releasing subpar anniversary editions are pointless. Unless the girls know they are just cash grabs and don't care if the track list is subpar.

That is not what I meant. -_- What I meant was, maybe they chose non-Spice album outtakes for Spiceworld 25. Or for something else that we don't even know about yet. To me, 'dipping into the archives' is a broad thing to say, especially when there are archives for every recording session they've done. For example, I think we all know that they've at least re-listened to WOMAN this year after Emma quoted the lyrics to Mel B on social media. For Emma (forgetful Spice) to use those lyrics, means they played it more than once, and were clearly listening to unreleased songs independent of whichever era they were recorded in.

And to be frank, if they were truly responsible for creating CD2 on Spice25, I wouldn't put anything past them in terms of questionable decisions at this stage.

According to them, it was them who chose the tracks to go on there. Melanie C even said they curated it, which is basically that and the order, etc. So yep, it is on them mainly.

I have no doubts the record company would have been up for a few more unreleased tracks other than Feed Your Love. Alas, the girls themselves seem to have a massive aversion to putting out tracks that have never been listened to before. I was SHOCKED that Feed Your Love was included in the Wannabe EP, to be honest, and hoped for more but, well.... here we are.

Maybe Likely Stories/C.U Next Tuesday wasn’t 2021 proof/too rude or the demo was in a very bad quality

Apparently Mel C said that it was 'shit' before, and she also said recently they chose 'the best tracks' so it might just be a taste thing... Its not like Voodoo or Feed Your Love were masterpieces lol

I wouldn't be surprised if they randomly release Woman next year. The girls probably think it's a Spiceworld leftover. The second disc of Spice 25 shows how out of the loop they are to what fans want. Look at Mariah Carey's rarities album. That track list fed the fans.

Why do you compare between a deluxe version and a rarities album?

Spice barely has any leftovers. Why is it so hard to accept?

That question can be asked to you too. We don’t know what is saved despite knowing some song names.

I trust Biff's words.

You are entitled to feel entitled though. :teresa:
