I see people panicking because the new girlbands “sell” a lot of streams. Who care? There’s never gonna be a song as iconic as Wannabe. It’s The Spice Girls, even my grandma knows who they are. Cheers

Are those with downloads/streams added though? As I can't imagine it's sold 2.6m physical copies since 1998.

 

 

Even with downloads / streams added they count as sales. The majority of Gaga and Rihanna's 00/10s hits were downloads doesn't make their sales any less? I'm just saying I don't understand why they still say 7 million now all these years later... it either never sold 7 million in the first place or they can't be bothered updating it's sales.

Yeah it specifically says physical sales and it will have added next to nothing physical sales since 1998 (maybe a couple of thousand for the 2015? Picture disc).

 

It also says it was the most streamed 90s song by a female artists last year so they cover both. Massive physical sales, nothing bigger from the 90s by a female artist on streaming either.

Tbh with how streaming is these days for the modern hits, 10 million worldwide is probably quite low lol.

Definitely sounds that way. Hope we get some from near the Forever era too even though we clearly won’t get a 25th anniversary vinyl for it

Amazon never charges me until close to dispatch, but I think all the other stores it's on will charge instantly!

Definitely interesting to hear Melanie say "dipping into the archive" - I hope it's an indication that there's way more unreleased stuff upcoming!

By the way I've turned this thread into a more general thread where we can discuss anything related to the 25th anniversary. I hope this proves to be a good move rather than making things confusing about where to post - we'll see how it goes!

It definitely sounds like the girls went through their unreleased material this year. This makes me very excited for Spice 25 in November. I'm so happy we are getting unreleased tracks this year.
