MACY GRAY) AVERAGE SCORE: 7.2 -kYVljnA6rI INTO YOU: Tafty (10), kath & Nina West (9) BAD DECISIONS: HausofArgento (5), Nick F1 (5.5) The first collaboration to drop out is Leave Me Lonely at #14. This is a very dramatic and atmospheric track that I would say is sonically the most similar on the album to the track that we ranked last so I can’t say it’s too shocking to see it out early. One area where this song really shines though is in the vocal department. The song actually opens with an intro from Ari’s duet partner, soul singer Macy Gray, who shows off her talent with her rougher and lower tones contrasting beautifully with the heavenly, higher pitched vocals from Ariana. They work together brilliantly to build the mood and the song feels like it could easily work well in a movie soundtrack or trailer. This song got its chance to shine at the 2016 TIME 100 Gala where Ariana performed it alongside Dangerous Woman to celebrate her being named amongst the most influential artists in the world of that year. We have a large increase in the averages and now where already at the point where the rating is above 7 that just goes to show the quality of this album. Tafty is the biggest Leave Me Lonely fan giving it a round 10 with kath & Nina West not too far behind with 9 each. Nobody seemed to be too negative with this one with the lowest score being HausofArgento’s 5 but it was constantly getting 6s and 7s that in general we all kinda think it’s average.
June 17, 20214 yr Author A 7.2 average for FOURTEENTH place is a testament to the strength of this album...! 'Leave Me Lonely' is a gorgeous, classy side to the album but gets a little lost amongst the top highlights so I can understand that placing.

June 17, 20214 yr LML always has been and always will be one of the very best on the album. It's absolutely gorgeous! I love how much their voices gel together!Should be complete opposites but it absolutely works. So well balanced. It saddens me that it never seems to get the love it deserves :(

Its early departure in our 'Dangerous Woman' survivor sparked outrage last year and resulted in a 'Sometimes' appreciation thread. Maybe some of the louder fans didn't vote in this? How cruel that its 'redemption arc' just turned out to be an unlucky 13th placement! 'Sometimes' marks yet another different side to the album as a plucky acoustic-pop moment. It's about the highs of being in a new, flourishing relationship after a string of bad experiences. We of course know that Ariana had further history until she got to her current state of marriage, but it's a sweet snapshot in time nevertheless. 'Sometimes' always puts me at ease whenever I listen to it due to its warmth. The chorus feels like quite a unifying "lighters in the air" moment at a concert too. However, I think the universal agreement is that the highlight of this song is the bridge. Ari conveys an electrifying desperation at that point as her voice tackles lyrics like: "Is it love? Is it lust? Is it fear? but it's hard to breathe when you're touching me there, hard to breathe when you're kissing me there, hard to breathe when you're not here..." with a metallic sheen. Ooft. This is my first 10 to drop out. However, I was not the only one who rated it that highly as Lunar did too. Kath's 9 is also acceptable in the stan circle. It was dragged down by a marking as low as 4 from chris and a barrage of 6s. But a 7.3 average for 13th place is still respectable.

June 19, 20214 yr I had forgotten what 'Sometimes' sounded like before relistening to it for this rate oops but I did rank it highly during the listening party in this forum a while back and was reminded why when revisiting, still a highlight for me so 13th is a little disappointing! 'Leave Me Lonely' is alright, that placement is about right for it ~
