February 28, 20223 yr A shame about Bielsa leaving Leeds as he's done so much for the club, but if the rumblings that he was thinking of leaving were true the fair enough. Hopefully a new manager might give the players a new lease of life.
March 1, 20223 yr Author Leeds United have named former RB Leipzig boss Jesse Marsch as their new head coach. The 48-year-old has signed a deal at the Elland Road club until June 2025. Marsch, who has also coached New York Red Bulls and Red Bull Salzburg, left the German club in December last year after a five-month spell.

After losses of less than £50m during the previous year, Arsenal posted post-tax losses of £107.3m, the biggest in the club's history. The Gunners say as much as £85m of their losses are attributable to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. March 2, 20223 yr Roman Abramovich has said that he is planning to sell Chelsea. Beginning of a downward spiral within the next few years? Definitely, think they probably end up like Arsenal. No more marquee signings and they will have to be run as a business rather than an endless money pit.
March 2, 20223 yr Definitely, think they probably end up like Arsenal. No more marquee signings and they will have to be run as a business rather than an endless money pit. Let's hope Manchester City are next then we can get back the Premier League we knew and loved!
March 2, 20223 yr Let's hope Manchester City are next then we can get back the Premier League we knew and loved! You mean so United can have more of a chance of winning it again
March 3, 20223 yr  You mean so United can have more of a chance of winning it again It's not just that, it's more about the long winning streaks that they routinely go on which were not so common in the Premier League before they got the oil money and Pep. It's really remarkable what Roman Abramovich has done for Chelsea though. They've won literally every trophy they've played for since he took over and the transformation was so quick, pre Abramovich I remember that Chelsea would mainly qualify for the UEFA Cup as it was known back then and win the odd FA Cup here and there but as soon as he arrived they just went on to another level almost overnight. They bought so many players in that first transfer window in summer 2003 as well.
March 3, 20223 yr City are only as good as they now because of Pep. Sure they have spent a lot of money, but the City organisation was set up for Pep since they got the Director of Football in. For me, Ten Haag seems the natural successor to him at, but there's not a chance I could see City getting to the flawless levels they have under Pep. It's the same with Klopp and Liverpool. When both managers go, the norm will revert again you'd expect. Chelsea bought very well under Abramovich and he literally turned them from a cup team to a world force. The difference to Liverpool and City though is they don't have a football identity. The signing of Mourinho was key really as at the time of his appointment was when football tactics were changing and Wenger/Ferguson were slow to adapt. The problem they have now though is surely they would get sanctioned if Abramovich writes off a £1.5m loan!? Otherwise Newcastle and City will just do that in their accounts every year. Probably a massive wake-up call though for fans of other clubs..
March 3, 20223 yr Yeh everything changed when Abramovich took over Chelsea. They had went to another level in the mid 90s thanks to the power of the premier league and the new stadium they developed and plus the location in London naturally attracted the new influx of foreign players such as Zola, Desailly et al but as Houdini said they were a top 8 team who won the cups rather than a dominating English and European force. Anyone remember the old Stamford Bridge from the pre 90s? It had an old dog racing track round it and the fans were ages away from the pitch, you get a good glimpse of it from the clip of Kenny Dalglish scorin the winner for Liverpool(as player manager) to win them the league there in the 85/86 season when he had to run over the race track to celebrate with the fans, it looked a shithole compared to todays cosmopolitan London ground with the hotel beside it.
March 3, 20223 yr Author When Roman took over, in their first season they brought: Glen Johnson from West Ham (£6m) Geremi from Real Madrid (£7m) Damien Duff from Blackburn (£17m) Joe Cole from West Ham (£6.6m) Juan Sebastian Veron from Chelsea (£15m) Adrian Mutu from Parma (£15.8m) Alexey Smertin from Bordeaux (£3.4m) Hernan Crespo from Inter Milan (£16.7m) Neil Sullivan from Tottenham (£500,000 Claude Makelele from Real Madrid (£16m) I think that was the first time I can remember a club spending big in one summer spree.
