February 27, 20223 yr According to someone who's gone and translated this IG story on Reddit, Jamala has reached Romania with her two children on foot while her husband had to stay behind to fight. A comment under the post showed how surreal this is: "2 weeks ago she was a judge in Vidbir, now she's a refugee." This stings. '1944' is just an absolute gutpunch to listen to now (as if it wasn't heartbreaking already) :(
March 13, 20223 yr Have some laughs with the Eurovision Iceberg :kink: @1503047010965938178 And the 2022 NF version: @1502804861095714826 I would add Jessica Grech's Aphrodisiac performance and the eccentric lyrics "To get to you, I'd learn to fly a plane", Oscar Zia's awkward hi, Irish studio jury comparing every singer to every famous modern singer and a Eurovision news outlet calling Sweden's Melodifestivalen stage building as "absolute scenes" when it's nothing too chaotic. :kink: Edited March 14, 20223 yr by HuhdMeClosting
March 26, 20223 yr Author You can stream the Barcelona Eurovision Party which is happening here in about 5 minutes!
March 28, 20223 yr Finally listened to the tracks from this year - some crackers! Is there a general discussion thread?
March 29, 20223 yr Finally listened to the tracks from this year - some crackers! Is there a general discussion thread? This thread is the general discussion thread, anything goes here. Or the rankings thread if you want to make one I suppose. And if you have anything to say about a specific song then you can bump its thread of course.
April 8, 20223 yr The tickets went on sale, and quickly sold out, yesterday. I sadly couldn't get any, for any of the shows, as would have only been in a position to go to the Saturday shows and they quickly went. Back to 'maybe next year' then. The official compilation is out on iTunes to download today with all the 3 minute Eurovision versions, so Spaceman cuts parts of verses, Brividi has a new intro and ending, Hold Me Closer doesn't have that lovely instrumental fade at the end etc. The karaoke version of the album is available on Spotify too, the CD is out in two weeks. April 8, 20223 yr It’s a bit confusing this year (and tbf every year) as there’s only a small standing area and it wasn’t put on general sale, it just went to the OGAE pre-sale etc - the seated tickets for the grand final were as high as €350 which is slightly insane. In perspective Lisbon 2018 was €120 for standing and that was a massive floor open to everyone, which subsequently shot up by about £200 the following year in Tel Aviv and hasn’t gone down that much since. I’ve just gone for the jury final the previous night which I was able to get pretty speedily yesterday, happily soon after a ton of cheap hotel/guesthouses in Turin suddenly became available again presumably from people cancelling their bookings after not getting tickets. Flights were booked at Christmas when they were really affordable (into Turin and out of Milan) so looks like I’ll be at Eurovision for the first time in three years - even if it’s just jury final and Eurovillage!
April 8, 20223 yr Nice! That sounds fun nonetheless. The ticket prices for the final are absolutely insane now and getting hold of one is nigh on impossible. I think I saw it was even €200 for the worst seat, which of course sold out immediately too. I'm sure when I went in 2013 I paid about £40 for the live show? For an admittedly crap view but I'd seen the family show earlier in the day with a good view so it didn't really matter.
April 10, 20223 yr I managed to bag jury final and Semi 2 live. Appreciate I’m very lucky however there is an official resale site so all isn’t lost for those still wanting to make it.
April 20, 20223 yr I managed to get tickets to the semi-final family show on the Thursday but it was incredibly difficult to get anything. I nabbed the first tickets I was offered after going back and forth between all of the different shows. So happy to be back at Eurovision for the first time since Copenhagen in 2014!
April 21, 20223 yr On a less serious note, there is a quiz going around that allocates you an Eurovision 2022 song that represents you the best. I got Sheldon Riley - Not The Same which is fairly relatable. Link: https://uquiz.com/quiz/3bkkAn/what-eurovisi...22-song-are-you
April 21, 20223 yr I got Disko which happens to be....one of my very least favourites of the year -_- On the ticketing front, I'll be going to semi 1 jury and semi 2 live. Will get to see the majority of the acts live this way (all except the big 5 countries that will be performing at the semi 2 jury show), and semi 2 is the stronger one. The cost of tickets and accommodation has just become ridiculous since 2019, I can't believe a jury show ticket is now almost the same price as I paid for the live final in Lisbon.
May 4, 20223 yr :cheer: I've been getting up to speed on how their Sanremo festival works and I gather it's very bloated and OTT, intrigued to see what their Eurovision hosting will be like as I haven't watched any full shows pre-2007. As for their own talent... bring on Måneskin, Mahmood and maybe even OG winner Gigliola Cinquetti. Just realised I get all of my performer wishes - albeit wasn't expecting Mahmood as an entrant
