I dont expect Die Another Day to last much longer !!

Edited by vibe

42. Rescue Me 7.596154

52. I'll Remember 7.269231

57. I Don't Search I Find 7.038462

Those are the ones that I'd probably find a place for in the top 40 - with Rescue Me being an easy top 10 for me :(

But then there's only really Celebration, Take a Bow and perhaps Die Another Day that I don't think deserves a top 40 finish.

don't think Madonna was particularly inspired during the American Life era

I think she was — people just didn't like it.

I'm happy to fight you all with my love for that album.

Strong inside but you don't know it

| 39. 4 Minutes (feat. Justin Timberlake & Timbaland) 7.71

| 40. What It Feels Like for a Girl 7.65

Kick starting the top 40, it's What It Feels Like for a Girl, the third and final single from Music. The song in album form is a mid-tempo song about the double standards faced by women in society. The song opens with a spoken word sample by actress Charlotte Gainsbourg from the 1993 film The Cement Garden and conveys the message of the song overtly. A music video was released for the song, directed by Madonna's then-husband Guy Ritchie; it featured Madonna as a women on the run through a reckless crime spree. It was a controversial video due to the crime and violence, forcing MTV to ban it. The music video featured the Above and Beyond remix of the song. Next out we have the lead single for Madonna's 11th studio album: 4 Minutes. The song features Justin Timberlake and Timberland and it became the first single of hers to have a featured artist in 25 years of her career. The song was inspired by Madonna's visit to Africa and her view to raise awareness of the suffering she saw and issues of environmentalism. It topped the chart in the UK and was a top 3 song in the US, and it received two grammy nominations.

4 Minutes actually doesn't deserve top 40, it was the first time in her career when Madonna was chasing trends instead of creating them and that was the beginning of the end (for me as a fan at least).

love What It Feels like for a Girl, one of her best tracks from the 00s

4 minutes was huge and i loved it at the time but now i am

not to fussed on it.

WIFLFAG has an incredible video however i love the album version more.

I love everything about 4 minutes - the song, the video, JTs involvement. I was thrilled that it did so well, both here and in the US.

WIFLFAG is a Music album highlight. The video was amazing, but I would have liked to see some visuals for the album version.

4 Minutes is a banger, filled with such an immediate energy. WIFLFAG is one of the weaker moments on Music for me but it's still good! A nice start to the top 40 ^_^

Put your troubles down, it's time to celebrate

| 37. Holiday 7.83

| 38. Die Another Day 7.81

Die Another Day is the theme song for the James Bond film of the same name. Released as a single to promote the film and then included on her American Life album, it is about destroying one's ego. It went on to be nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song and two Grammy Awards for Best Dance Recording and Best Short Form Music Video. Said music video was inspired by the Bond films and featured Madonna in a torture chamber while she faced versions of herself. We also lose Holiday which was her debut album's 3rd single and its big smash hit! It was her first true hit single and has become a staple song for her to perform on tours ever since. With a real sense of timeless magic, the song has gone on to have a huge impact over the decades since its release and is often cited as one of her most signature hits.

Holiday deserves more love but i guess it is overplayed for many M fans.

DAD did well to make the top 40 !! what an amazing video it has though

love Die Another Day, underrated gem!!!

Holiday never been a fan even as a kid, but credit to the song for being a UK top 10 three times!

Die Another Day is a amazing video. I really like it a lot.

Two decent (and wildly different ) songs! Holiday is so uplifting and always puts me in a good mood. It's basic in comparison to what came after but remains timeless! Die Another Day is such a bold single and I love how it distorts the usual Bond song formula. One of the most unique songs from the franchise!

An invitation to the dance of life

| 35. Secret 7.90

| 36. Celebration 7.87

Harking back to the material she recorded over the 80s and 90s, Celebration is a dance song about celebrating music, love and life. It was released as part of the greatest hits compilation album of the same name. The song also had a number of remixes, the most prominent being the Benny Benassi remix which was also included in the music video of the song. The song went on to become a hit single in many nations around the world (her last single to do so!) and was a great way of celebrating her music, career and legacy up until that point. Slowing proceedings down considerably, it's the lead single from Bedtime Stories. Secret marked a contrast to the material that had come before it; while she had a string of upbeat dance bangers or deep melancholic ballads, this was a more subdued, R&B, acoustic sound. The soulful single became a smash either side of the pond and came with a black and white music video, inspired by Jean Harlow; its ambigious nature ties in beautifully with the lyrics of the song.

I'm on the fence with Die Another Day - great video, but not massively keen on the song and almost a shame that she took her big Bond Theme moment and squandered it on such a divisive track that was nothing like any Bond theme before - but that's Madonna for you.

I'm not keen on Holiday - I expected it to be higher as it's such a signature tune, but maybe others see it as a rather bland and repetitive song as well?

Celebration was a bit of a banger - but the spoken line "I don't recognise you with your clothes on" was a bit cringe.

I was disappointed in Secret when it was first released, but I have grown to like it more over the years

All in all, these four are well placed for me at the bottom end of the Top 40.
