A dramatic end to the Men's long jump competition as Miltiadis Tentoglou from Greece takes the gold medal with his final jump overtaking three people. Spain's Eusebio Cáceres was 3rd before the last jump from the Greek athlete but ended up in 4th place. Two Cuban athletes were 1 and 2 for almost the whole competition until the last jump and Cuba's Juan Miguel Echevarría had the chance to go back in the lead with the last jump of all but he cramped up and couldn't jump.

Can we talk about Ms Hassan not letting the others stand a chance?

Saw it that was the final lap and an quite incredible run from her. She's in the 5000m later.

The rain has stopped so the women’s discus finalists are on their way back out after an hour.

12 hours later, she wins the 5000m, first of a treble that she is going for.

Enjoyed the 100m final, I'd seen Jacobs race before so not completely surprised but he did seem to not be the one favoured to win! The sharing of the golds in the high jump was a moment as well.

Poor Echevarría cramping up in the long jump but a fab result for Tentoglu and Greece!

Finally some success for GB in the athletics after a few days of the biggest news being seemingly endless disqualifications and injuries... Keely Hodgkinson taking silver in the women's 800m, we only just missed out on winning bronze in the same event as well.

In other news the men's 400m hurdles final was absolutely insane - Karsten Warholm of Norway smashing his own world record by nearly an entire second, with Rai Benjamin of the USA having to settle for silver despite also beating the previous world record by over half a second!! (Even the bronze medallist came within hundredths of a second of the old record too, tough luck for the 4th placed runner from British Virgin Islands who had a time which would have been gold in 2016, a missed opportunity for another 'country' to earn its first ever Olympic medal).

Yes a fab result for Keeley Hodgkinson! Even if all the coverage I'd watched before today seemed to be calling Jemma Reekie as the main contender.

I didn't think much of the race when I watched it but knowing this makes me a little annoyed now! Great to see Namibia get their first medal since 1996 with a silver in the Women's 200m though.

Sydney Mclaughlin broke her own World record by winning the final with a time of 51.46 to win the gold medal for the Women's 400m hurdles.

Katarina Johnson-Thompson's medal hopes in the Olympic women's heptathlon were effectively ended as she pulled up injured in the 200m. What a shame for her.

British Athletics have confirmed that Katarina Johnson-Thompson has withdrawn from the Olympic heptathlon.

That’s the fourth Olympics in a row where the US has failed to win a men’s gold in the 100m and 200m. You have to go back to cheater Gatlin and Crawford in Athens 2004.

In fact, all of the Top 3 broke the previous world record! :o a stunning race.

Shame for KJT, the British athletes really seem to be struggling with injuries this time round, you really have to feel for them when you think about how much effort they've put in. Let's hope Laura Muir can bring some hope to the athletics team.

Yes, a great result for Holly Bradshaw! Fab to finally get a medal in the Athletics.

In other news, the USA didn't do well in various races Michael Johnson expected them to do well in, which for some reason is news in the UK ;) Also noticed that Burkina Faso got their first ever medal today with a bronze in the Triple Jump, very pleased for him particularly as he only just scraped into the Final!

Some more success in the Athletics today with Laura Muir getting a silver and both the 4x100m relay teams getting a medal! Things are starting to look a bit better for us in this event...
