the use of the Enya sample (Boadicea) is pure genius, best thing Fu-Gees ever did imho

Love the Eternal track - almost got points from me. Mmmbop is a guilty pleasure too so good to see it reasonably high.

It's great but Fugee La is amazing too.

Is the Eternal track a sample?

I’m surprised it’s got so high albeit when I listened I had heard it before!

No it isn't

Hmm some real classics dropping out now - and still 6 Spice Girls tracks in. :drama:

I mean I like the girls and may have voted for one or more of their songs, but really?

Let Me Be Your Fantasy, Ebeneezer Goode and Ready Or Not all narrowly missed my votes (if it had been a top 40...)

I agree, six Spice Girls songs remaining at this stage seems a bit, well, too much.

They are the biggest girl group of the 90s and this is BJ remember 😅

the love for Spice Girls in this forum drives me crazy :D I get we're all nostalgic but come on, grow up :D

the Spice Girls music was tailored at 5 year olds, so ok, you were 5 years old in 1996 so you loved them, I get it,

but come on you're not 5 years anymore... sure you don't have the same music taste... or maybe you do :D

no one over 18 liked the Spice Girls music back in the day basically cos its not music for grown up people :D

Oh Bjork… you have to know that post will trigger people! :drama:

Some great songs leaving since I last checked this thread. None that I’m particularly surprised about though.

That's a lot of Spice Girl shaming for one post, Björk

It's not like they're Nickelback. :(

Funny that music for five year olds are still seen by many critics as some of the best music of the decade. Plus there's them still being studied academically as key parts of third wave feminism and saving the girl group as an act and being the point of comparison for all modern girl groups going forward.

I'm not a superfan, and don't get me wrong, they turned into a manufactured brand more and more as they went along and their music was not flawless (How is Too Much not out yet?), but c'mon man, surely even you can see how snobby this sounds.

Riser’s 30 pointer gets the boot, but I didn’t think this was so loved here.

Back to back 30 pointers- this time Popchartfreak is the loser. This is however Michael Jackson’s most popular 90s chart topper on Buzzjack. Here's THAT performance....

Were Erasure responsible for the huge Abba success in the 90s as nostalgia took hold and Abba Gold became one of the biggest albums in history? Or was that after this?

Edited by steve201

I was born in 1997 and properly discovered the Spice Girls through my parents' copy of 'Spice'... they would've been in their 20s when purchasing it, lol

I'm not really a fan of 'Goodbye', the last one to drop out, but rooting for 'Viva Forever' and 'Spice Up Your Life'

I recall it being the start of the reappraisal of them yes. Murial's Wedding followed in 1994 then the musical at the end of 99 and the rest is history!
