September 7, 20213 yr Those Shaggy tracks aren't actually too bad, they're nowhere near good enough to rank in a top 30 but they're far from the worst the decade had to offer. Good to see Robson & Jerome starting to fall already, also happy to see Take That's worst single out (Sure) and both of Peter Andre's awful chart toppers.
September 7, 20213 yr No huge losses there! ‘I Feel You’ has got to be one of the least memorable #1s ever, as much as I’ve tried I still can’t recall it
September 7, 20213 yr Author A REMINDER PLEASE NOT TO DISCLOSE WHO YOU VOTED FOR UNTIL THEY ARE REVEALED.
September 7, 20213 yr Author R&J remain a mystery to this day. I never bought any of their singles nor do I know anyone who has but they were an absolute phenomenon from a sales point of view.
September 7, 20213 yr That would be some amount of work. http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...=142383&hl= I already did it though.....haha Well, belated thanks, I'm sure I read it way back and had it stored in the back of mine as a thing I couldn't quite recall the details of!
September 7, 20213 yr well, I rather like Saviours Day, nice tune and not as irritating as Mistletoe & Whine. Also Shaggy's Oh carolina is a goodie, and TBH I quite like all of the reggae tracks. They just all got edged out by better tracks, I'm afraid... The rest? Yeah, not deserving of any points given the opposition...
September 7, 20213 yr I do actually like Saviour’s Day - if this had been done in December I might have been tempted to vote for it. Baby Come Back dropping out is the other surprise for me; remember that with some fondness.
September 8, 20213 yr Yeah i’ll echo the other comment in that “Boombastic” is the only one I still listen to on a semi-regular basis but not enough to get votes, also the Boyzone version of ‘Words’ is nice but hardly best of the decade material.
September 8, 20213 yr I've no time for Shaggy at all. Also happy that no one around here rates Peter Andre's stuff very highly. I think I'm most surprised at Words getting nil point. I guess with 6 number ones to choose from, casual fans will have gone for later stuff.
September 8, 20213 yr Author NO 176 (Cont'd)- ZERO POINTS LL Cool J- Ain't Nobody- #1 for 1 week in February 1997- Thanks Beavis & Butthead U2- Discotheque- #1 for 1 week in February 1997- 1 down and 1 left in the rate for these boys Gary Barlow- Love Won't Wait- #1 for 1 week in May 1997- Madonna may have co-written it but it doesn't save both Gary Barlow's entries crashing out with zero points. Michael Jackson- Blood On The Dancefloor- #1 for 1 week in May 1997- He may be the king of pop but you dump this one out without a point Elton John- Something About The Way You Look Tonight- #1 for 5 weeks in September/October 1997- Biggest selling single of the decade and ever! (at one point) but no-one is here for this one Teletubbies- Teletubbies Say Eh-Oh!- #1 for 2 weeks in December 1997 Usher- You Make Me Wanna- #1 for 1 week in January 1998- Early Usher leaves us cold it seems Boyzone- All That I Need- #1 for 1 week in May 1998- Another Boyzone track leaves with zero points All Saints- Lady Marmalade- #1 for 1 week in May 1998- Another version of this impressed no-one All Saints- Under The Bridge- #1 for 1 week in May 1998- Ditto for this one Another Level- Freak Me- #1 for 1 week in July 1998- No-one wants to lick them up and down it seems Mel B Feat Missy Elliott- I Want You Back- #1 for 1 week in September 1998- Solo Mel B gets the heave ho Chef- Chocolate Salty Balls- #1 for 1 week in December 1998- Comedy records again are not our favourites 911- A Little Bit More- #1 for 1 week in January 1999- Their only chart topper and zero points Boyzone- When The Going Gets Tough- #1 for 2 weeks in March 1999- Second Boyzone track to leave with zero marks- another cover Westlife- Swear It Again- #1 for 2 weeks in May 1999- Westlife's first No 1 failed to impress. Boyzone- You Needed Me- #1 for 1 week in May 1999- Fourth Boyzone track to get nothing meaning that only 2 of their No 1's got points Vengaboys- We're Going To Ibiza- #1 for 1 week in September 1999- Apparently we aren't going with them Westlife- Seasons In The Sun- #1 for 3 weeks in December 1999- 40% of their chart toppers leave without a point as the Irish Boyband cull ends.
September 8, 20213 yr Oops I forgot to vote in this in time! The only one that would have been top 30 for me was Boyzone’s All That I Need. Surprised Vengaboys got zero with that!
September 8, 20213 yr Something About the Way You Look Tonight is a very nice song and came close to my votes. It was obviously only #1 because of the other track though so maybe doesn’t feel like a “proper” No 1.
September 8, 20213 yr The first list I narrowed down to had about 75 songs on. I think only Freak Me and Mr Boombastic were the only one of these to make that, and neither were particularly close to a top 30.
September 8, 20213 yr Lmao at Robson and Jerome getting a deserved zero points all round. I Feel You by Peter Andre must be one of the most forgettable #1s of all time, I have no idea how it goes but I specifically remember listening to it in the past because I had no idea how it goes and its the kind of song you forget half way through listening to it lmao. Echo the fact that Something About The Way You Look Tonight is a great song and criminally overlooked as the default second half of the Diana tribute, I feel like Boombastic and You Make Me Wanna at least deserved a point or two as well. Nothing else to be too sad about exiting on zero points. And finally.... does this mean somebody actually voted for Gym N Tonic?????? :o Edited September 8, 20213 yr by Dot Branning
September 8, 20213 yr Oh I did like All Saints cover of Under the Bridge back in the day, not top 30 material but didn't deserve a zero... I'd actually thought we'd lose all of Westlife and Boyzone songs with a zero :D
September 8, 20213 yr Oh I did like All Saints cover of Under the Bridge back in the day, not top 30 material but didn't deserve a zero... I'd actually thought we'd lose all of Westlife and Boyzone songs with a zero :D No Matter What, Words, If I Let You Go and Flying Without Wings are all good and deserve some points imo.
September 8, 20213 yr I quite like Gym n Tonic! No idea if I voted for it or not, the original Bob Sinclar/Thomas Bangalter track was HUGE in clubs in the 90s so I have good memories attached to it Out of this last bunch I do like U2, Usher, MJ and Elton John. The Another Level track is okay too
