The record is the follow-up to 2018’s No.1 album Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino. The Sheffield band’s sixth album powered to the summit with first week sales of 86,359 (OCC). What’s more interesting was that the album broke some records, following an unusual release campaign without a lead single. As revealed in Music Week’s charts analysis, it was the first album ever to sell more than 20,000 copies across each of the three main formats – CD, download, vinyl – in the same week. CD was just ahead (27,681 OCC sales), followed by vinyl (24,478) and downloads (15,679). Sales-equivalent streams accounted for 18,016 sales.

Looking forward to this. Love all their albums in their own way.

Really looking forward to this, I hope the lead single performs well on the charts.

Will be seeing them live for the first time at Leeds this Sunday (my main motivation for getting a ticket) which i'm also very excited about.

They've got this wrong somewhere. It mentions 3 formats selling 20k+ but says one downloads were 15,769

I find it so hard to get remotely excited about any kind of return after 2018.

After 4 years of getting used to them all, Tranquility Base is easily my favourite album of theirs. I think a couple of the others have higher highs though.
really? Easily their worst for me, number of songs I like.... mmmm... zero :o

Not even Four Out of Five? That’s probably my fave song of theirs tbh

I enjoy Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino for what it is and thought it was an interesting way to go when they could have plumped for AM part 2. I wouldn’t say it’s my favourite of theirs but I definitely still enjoy it as I do all their albums in ways.

I find my favourites often rotate. I think it’s Humbug right now, very underrated album.

Must give Traquility another spin before the new album comes out, haven’t listened in 4 years!
Taylor Swift is releasing an album the same day, wonder if this would make any effect on either of the release dates, although I would like to think AM wins that battle right?
Months and months of fire album sales then two heavyweights go head to head!
I don't think they need to move? I think there's enough hype for a comeback that they could just about beat Taylor. They're a global name, but not exactly made for the US market (though they do have Top 10 albums there) so I can't see Taylor shifting her date at all. Will make for an interesting chart battle.

surprised Taylor has picked up this date, with Evermore she seemed pretty aware of other releases (she moved her release to avoid McCartney III)

AM should win but who knows with taylor signed stuff!

The same guy that leaked the album announcement is now saying the single will be out “in a matter of hours”!!!

(Midnight apparently)

Love it - people already rinsing it because it’s not like the ‘old’ Arctic’s -_-
