September 2, 20214 yr It's possible ABBA could do that. I would be so here for that. I'm sorry but you're going to be severely disappointed if you expect ABBA to get a #1 single in 2021.
September 2, 20214 yr I'm expecting them to sell more than 200K copies first week. Anything less than that would be a commercial disappointment. You're also going to be severely disappointed if you expect their album to sell 200k first week. They'll be lucky to do 100k.
September 2, 20214 yr I'm sorry but you're going to be severely disappointed if you expect ABBA to get a #1 single in 2021. I've saved this post for the 17th September....
September 2, 20214 yr I've saved this post for the 17th September.... You should save it for 10th September, actually.
September 2, 20214 yr I've saved this post for the 17th September.... So you can look back at it and reflect on how wrong you were? Why would you do that to yourself 😩
September 2, 20214 yr You're also going to be severely disappointed if you expect their album to sell 200k first week. They'll be lucky to do 100k. We shall see then.
September 2, 20214 yr If that does happen it'll be an embarrassment for most modern artists I don't really see why, they have the big advantage of being so adored cross-generationally and I can't imagine many (or any) modern artists garnering the hype they've currently got with a new album. September 2, 20214 yr You should save it for 10th September, actually. Fair point, slightly less torturous waiting game. :yahoo: Wonder who the next huge band to reunite or artist to make a pop comeback will be after this.
September 2, 20214 yr We shall see then. From what I can find 200k would be their biggest first week sales ever, and you expect them to do that now? When physical formats are dying and ABBA are well, well past their prime?
September 2, 20214 yr I don't really see why, they have the big advantage of being so adored cross-generationally and I can't imagine many (or any) modern artists garnering the hype they've currently got with a new album. Was gonna say they have 50 years of cultural relevance to fall back on!
September 2, 20214 yr Wonder who the next huge band to reunite or artist to make a pop comeback will be after this. Ed Sheeran a week before, and then Adele (who knows when).
September 2, 20214 yr Maybe we're due a Spice Girls studio album with all 5 in about 17 years? Edited September 2, 20214 yr by Tawdry Hepburn
September 2, 20214 yr Ed Sheeran a week before, and then Adele (who knows when). Adele now delayed to November 2053.
September 2, 20214 yr If that does happen it'll be an embarrassment for most modern artists That doesn't make any sense. ABBA are the biggest band ever and they're making their first album in 40 years of course it's gonna be massive nobody expects Becky Hill to do 200K in week 1 lol
September 2, 20214 yr The music industry must be salivating at the thought of a Q4 with Ed, ABBA and Coldplay releasing new material!

There a big pop band with enduring popularity, but I think the idea they can sell 200k sales in a week, numbers that nobody has done for a very long time, not even them during their hey-dey is insane. September 2, 20214 yr You're also going to be severely disappointed if you expect their album to sell 200k first week. They'll be lucky to do 100k. They’ve crashed the entire Universal webstore system tonight - multiple editions have already sold out (and changing hands already for £80+ on eBay), they are releasing in Q4 which will have even Tesco, Sainsbury’s etc., wheeling out copies of the album and pre-orders get 2 day early ticket access, the album will defy the odds of the declining album/physical market.

The amount of sales they will get is up for discussion but they are up there with the bands you’ve mentioned.
September 2, 20214 yr ABBA having a brand new #1 single in 2021 would be the maddest thing and I would be SO here for it!
