I'm expecting them to sell more than 200K copies first week. Anything less than that would be a commercial disappointment.

I don't really see why, they have the big advantage of being so adored cross-generationally and I can't imagine many (or any) modern artists garnering the hype they've currently got with a new album.

From what I can find 200k would be their biggest first week sales ever, and you expect them to do that now? When physical formats are dying and ABBA are well, well past their prime?

I think The Beatles might have a few things to say about that, as would Led Zeppelin and Queen.

 

There a big pop band with enduring popularity, but I think the idea they can sell 200k sales in a week, numbers that nobody has done for a very long time, not even them during their hey-dey is insane.

They’ve crashed the entire Universal webstore system tonight - multiple editions have already sold out (and changing hands already for £80+ on eBay), they are releasing in Q4 which will have even Tesco, Sainsbury’s etc., wheeling out copies of the album and pre-orders get 2 day early ticket access, the album will defy the odds of the declining album/physical market.

The amount of sales they will get is up for discussion but they are up there with the bands you’ve mentioned.
