She is the modern Cher, the Voice of Pop. Madonna iw a huge flop these days, but she has the MARKETING title of Queen of Pop. That marketing title will not go to anyone else simply because it isn't real. Mariah Carey has sold more, for example, with wishy washy ballads and rnb mid tempos, but she isn't the Queen of Pop, qs yhe marketing didn't go that way. Madonna is seen as a chameleon and has done all styles of pop, and for that she has the title, too. Britney has the title of princess, even though she hasn't been a pop force since 2007, and again, it is because marketing titles do not transfer. Katy Perry COULD have been the "next" Queen of Pop IN FUNCTION - not in title, due to marketing - but she flopped out. GaGa COULD be our next Madonna in FUNCTION, but she will be given a different marketing title. And yes: Kylie cannot sing, but her sangs are fun.
September 11, 20213 yr I can't take the suggestion that Kylie can't sing seriously!! :drama: I can obviously accept that her voice isn't going to be everybody's cup of tea, but not liking her vocals ≠ "Kylie cannot sing". 35 years in the business, 15 albums and numerous live tours says she can!! September 12, 20213 yr I sort of get where that "Kylie can't sing" comes from but it is still a reach. Madonna isn't a great vocalist either but she uses her limited ability very well and Kylie does the same.

September 13, 20213 yr I don't think people get how intrinsically tied the whole "King/Queen of Pop" is tied to the MTV revolution and the impact it had on youth culture at the time. The whole thing ties back to the impact Elvis once had on youth culture in the 1950s ("King of Rock'n'Roll"). That's why you can't "transfer" the title in itself because it's tied to a specific era and period.

September 18, 20213 yr She did everything she did in music because she didn't have the talent to do it in Hollywood, which was always her biggest dream (to win an Oscar). Needless to say what is Madonna's biggest inspiration, right? A certain blonde actress best known for that scene where her dress almost flies off (hint: Madonna in her prime did an entire video inspired by a movie this actress starred in)… So what if the reason she did all that in music was because her film career never took off with the exception of a few movies, if it is then brilliant it helped her become the Queen and until someone overtakes her achievements in music over a 40 year career she will hold that title.
