In theory it should be with all the big artists releasing, but maybe in the last few years not as much to be fair. It’s certainly hard to envisage this stretching a run at No.1 into mid-November, but who knows.

Yeh I’m sort of thinking in the past few years as streaming has domiabted big artists usually release their singles in mid October and that’s the charts until the Xmas songs disrupt things in late November.

Is there an iTunes glitch or something? I'm gobsmacked it's not #01!

It is #1 on the chart on iTunes itself - so either it literally only just got there or Kworb is glitching again. (Kworb is often glitchy and has been especially so the last week, Drake's songs have literally only just appeared on their UK Apple Music chart lol)

edit: may have just been the former as it is showing at #1 on Kworb as well now :magic:

I’ve preordered de album on iTunes. However the song hasn’t been available to download. It says purchased. I don’t know why.
If you already pre-ordered the album it will have been downloaded automatically when it was released.
2.5 days and the video isn't even at 9 million yet... Bad Habits has 152m. This really came too soon for the general public.

zzz

IF and that’s a IF it doesn’t do as well as ‘Bad Habits’ it’ll simply highlight the fact ‘Bad Habits’ didn’t do so well because of imaginary Alexa and physical sales it did well because people loved it and it was a deserving No1 and he can’t just go to number one for weeks on end with anything the general public aren’t into because of playlist position?

Does that still count towards the ITunes and Official Chart? Probably a stupid question!

No it doesn't (otherwise artists would be able to abuse that by having all of the album pre-orders count towards each song they release as an instant grat - not that this would be so much of an issue these days as iTunes album pre-orders are nowhere near what they used to be but still)

This happens a lot these days, even Ed and his team who know this probably don't know what they did with Bad Habits. Shivers is so much better. I suspect it will find its way to number 1 eventually, but when you have a massive single at the start of an era it can really derail the rest of the era. Blinding Lights is a great example - I know Save Your Tears eventually took off well after a year, but In Your Eyes deserved so much better.

So really most people who buy Ed’s music on iTunes will have pre ordered the album so kind of explains why it’s not doing as well there. Really he should have just had the separate single and not the album version.

A single version was charting around #11 (when the album version was at #2 already) but it got removed.

OR... it's because you can't escape a Tik Tok video without hearing it at least 4 or 5 times every 15 mins... it doesn't even have a "trend" it's just backing for people's pranks and life stories.

This wouldn't be the first time the better song of his got overshadowed! Happened with YNM(IDNY) and Castle On the Hill :cheeseblock:

And 'Cross Me' x (still salty that 'I Don't Care' and 'Beautiful People' both got to be #1s while 'Cross Me' stalled at #4 despite being miles better than both of them)

I think it's likely 'Shivers' will be debuting at #1 this week anyway, albeit possibly on relatively lacklustre sales, its release timing has been pretty perfect for that. Partly intentional on Ed's part as I assume the fact it was released the exact week 'Bad Habits' went to ACR wasn't a coincidence, but it's not so much in his control that what would have been its biggest competition is also going to ACR in the same week and that Drake's album bomb failed to produce any songs that have quickly blown up in the same way as 'In My Feelings'.
