October 28, 20213 yr Author cHHLHGNpCSA 15 Waiting For Love Average: 7.46/10 High: 10/10 (Pete, Dan) Low: 2/10 (Tawdry) "Waiting for Love" is a song by Swedish DJ and music producer Avicii, produced by Avicii and Dutch producer Martin Garrix and featuring uncredited vocals from Simon Aldred, the former lead singer of English band Cherry Ghost. The track was released on 22 May 2015 as the lead single from Avicii's second studio album, Stories (2015). The lyrics were also written by Aldred. The track was first premiered at Ultra Music Festival 2015 both by Avicii and Dutch electronic producer Martin Garrix. Prior to its release on May 22, 2015, it was thought that the song would have been a full collaboration with Garrix and Bergling, with featuring vocals from John Legend, after several videos and Twitter posts were created stating this collaboration. The singer is confirmed to be Simon Aldred, the lead singer of Cherry Ghost. Another brilliant top-tier track of his but ultimately not surprised this ended up missing the top 10. It was the perfect continuation of where he left off from True. 14 Fade Into Darkness Average: 7.62/10 High: 10/10 (photografdemon) Low: 6/10 (ElectroBoy, awardinary, Riser) "Fade into Darkness" is a song by Swedish house producer and DJ Avicii. It features uncredited vocals from Andreas Moe. The single was released on 22 July 2011. The song incorporates elements from "Perpetuum Mobile" by Penguin Cafe Orchestra, as written by Simon Jeffes. Prior to its commercial release, the song was referred to as "Penguin", which was solely an instrumental track, unlike the following lyrical version. Surprised this managed to end up so high but just goes to show what a difference a vocal makes. Seems to be well regarded with Avicii fans to this day too despite not making much chart impact outside of Sweden. 13 The Nights Average: 7.69/10 High: 11/10 (Cow Cow) Low: 6/10 (Gavin, ElectroBoy, Riser) "The Nights" is a song by Swedish DJ and record producer Avicii and singer/songwriter Nicholas Furlong. On 1 December 2014, it was released as a digital download by PRMD Music and Universal Island on Avicii's The Days / Nights EP, then on 11 January 2015 in the United Kingdom. The song peaked at number six on the UK Singles Chart and number one on the UK Dance Chart. On 23 January 2015, Avicii released "The Nights (Avicii by Avicii)", his own remix of the song. The song appears on the UK version of Avicii's second studio album Stories (2015). The song was featured as a part of the football game by EA Sports, FIFA 15. In 2014, SportsCenter on ESPN used The Nights as a song to round out the year in sports. It was also used as the Carolina Hurricanes’ goal song from 2015 to 2018. Furlong noted that he began writing the song as an ode to his father. The inspiration for the “pirate-y fight song” sound came to him while at a bar in Ireland. Furlong sent the original idea, titled "My Father Told Me", to Arash Pournouri, Avicii's manager. Pournouri recognised an immediate draw to the track, saying that the song had that same sense of euphoria which characterises so much of Avicii's music. In an interview with Yahoo! Music, Pournouri said: "It made absolute sense to work on it with Nick...[Avicii and I just needed] to make it more 'us' and that's what [we] did." Like his previous hits "Wake Me Up" and "Hey Brother", "The Nights" is a progressive house song containing elements of folk rock. On 15 December 2014, the official music video for "The Nights" was released on Youtube. The video was produced, directed by, and stars "professional life liver" Rory Kramer, who filmed an exuberant action-packed recollection of his own life on roller coasters, surfing, snowboarding, skateboarding, balloon flying, making a four-door convertible out of a Toyota, etc. – living a life to be remembered. As of October 2021, the music video has over 777 million views on YouTube. One of the first songs casuals would be able to name from Avicii most likely, it even sits in the Spotify top 200 at the moment which is testament to how well it holds up. Although it's not one of my absolute faves of his, so #13 feels like a fair position for it. 12 Heaven Average: 7.75/10 High: 10/10 (Cow Cow, Dan) Low: 3/10 (Seven) "Heaven" is the third posthumous single by Swedish DJ Avicii, featuring vocals by singer Chris Martin of British band Coldplay. The song was released on 6 June 2019, as the third single from Avicii's posthumous studio album Tim. The song became his third single, and his second posthumously, to reach number one on Billboard's Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart in its 27 July 2019 issue. The song was recorded with Chris Martin in 2014, at the same time they did "A Sky Full of Stars". It first premiered during Avicii's set at Future Music Festival in 2015. During the period of 2014 until 2019, there have been different versions of the song circulating the web. Finally Avicii chose the one with Chris Martin. In 2015, Avicii premiered "Heaven" at 2015 Ultra Music Festival with a different singer, Simon Aldred, and said he thought he did the track justice. In 2016, Avicii worked on a version of "Heaven" with producer Carl Falk, now including a revamped vocal from singer Simon Aldred and electric guitars. Avicii played this version of the track during the course of 2016, until his retirement. Before his death, Tim told the Chief Executive Officer of Universal Music Sweden, Per Sundin, that he wanted to release the version with Chris Martin instead. The song was played in his memory by Nicky Romero during Kingsland Festival in 2018. As Nicky said, Tim sent to him a folder full of new music, mostly unfinished but still usable for the shows. On 27 May 2018, the song was leaked online after being played by NRJ radio. In April 2019, it was announced that the album Tim, which Avicii was working on before his death, would include the song "Heaven" in the album, which was released on 6 June 2019. In December 2019, "Heaven" was sung live by singer Simon Aldred at the Avicii Tribute Concert benefiting the Tim Bergling Foundation. A big fave of mine now, but with its one low score considered #12 is a good position for it, it would've been top 10 without it. 11 My Feelings For You (with Sebastian Drums) Average: 7.77/10 High: 10/10 (Gavin, Dobbo) Low: 6/10 (ElectroBoy, Pete) "My Feelings for You" is a 2010 track by DJs Avicii and Sebastien Drums, which is a remix of an original made by Cassius, a French house band, which released on Astralwerks in 1999. The single was released in the United Kingdom on 13 December 2010 as a digital EP with additional remixes, as well as an additional remix EP. The vocals are sampled from "All This Love That I'm Giving" by Gwen McCrae. The vocal samples taken are reminiscent of those used by Cassius in "Feeling For You". After the single's official release in the United Kingdom, it started to receive a strong number of downloads and on 19 December 2010, charted at no. 46 on the UK Singles Chart and no. 4 on the UK Dance Chart, which were also the song's peak positions on those charts. The music video was released on 15 October 2010 in the United Kingdom. It received a fair amount of video play and as such charted on the UK Dance chart on 17 October 2010 at 4. The video was created by Australian artist, Brenton March, owner of CtrldChaos.com Animation. It is computer generated, and follows the story of two love hearts that love each other. When one gets taken away, the other goes after it. The video features nods to various classic video games, including Pong, Frogger, Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, Breakout/Arkanoid, Pac-Man, Tetris, Super Mario Bros. and Gyruss. The video has received over 20 million views. Further, it makes references to a citation from a dialogue in the video game Zero Wing ("All your feelings are belong to us..." while the original phrase was "All your base are belong to us"). A very early track of his which seems to be fairly forgotten in general but clearly not here as it ends up one position out from the top 10, this was one of the first signs that Avicii was someone to watch out for having potential as a dance producer alongside another track yet to appear. 3EcsipR9hGo
October 28, 20213 yr Strong section there. Adored Waiting For Love at the time but hasn't held up *as* amazingly. My Feelings For You on the other side kinda passed me by at the time but I absolutely rank it among my faves of his these days.
October 28, 20213 yr So far, so good. Not surprised The Days didn't reach the Top 20. Somehow, The Nights was higher than Waiting For Love in Buzzjack. Wish Heaven was on the top 10 alongside True and pre-True hits.
October 28, 20213 yr 'Waiting For Love' is utter rubbish. 'The Nights' has proven to be a bit of a grower over the years though, and 'Heaven' was lovely (so much better than 'SOS', shame it did nowhere near as well)
October 28, 20213 yr Collide & Lonely Together out early *.* Broken Arrows is easily the best single from the Stories era though, great vocals from Zac Brown on that one
October 28, 20213 yr For A Better Day / Pure Griding were the pair that really made me pay attention to Avicii so a shame to see them out so early :( Broken Arrows and Waiting For Love deserve more as well!
October 28, 20213 yr Author Qc9c12q3mrc 10 Addicted To You Average: 7.92/10 High: 10/10 (photografdemon) Low: 6/10 (awardinary) "Addicted to You" is a song by Swedish DJ and record producer Avicii, incorporating vocals by American folk rock singer Audra Mae. The track was written by Avicii, Arash Pournouri, Mac Davis and Josh Krajcik for making appearance on Avicii's debut studio album, True (2013), with it being later released as its fourth single. "Addicted to You" first premiered to Australian radio on 23 November 2013; a digital single of "Addicted to You" remixes was released on 11 March 2014. The music video was directed by Sebastian Ringler and was shot in Gällivare and Vaxholm. It is inspired by the story of Bonnie and Clyde and set in the 1930s. The video begins by showing a woman working in a bar as a waitress (played by Swedish actress Madeleine Minou Martin). At the same time, a blond woman enters (played by Swedish actress Hedda Stiernstedt) and asks for a drink. She sips it and then throws the glass against the wall behind the bar. This is the signal for them to draw their guns and rob the place. After, they tour the snowy roads in a car. Arriving at night at home, they lie down on a bed while caressing passionately. They subsequently decide to rob a bank, and in the process they stop and start kissing passionately at a table while the still-terrified bank clients watch. The blonde woman places an explosive on the door of the safe box, but the police arrive and a sniper shoots her dead. Finally, her grieving girlfriend decides to take revenge by taking the explosive off of the safe, running out to the waiting police officers, and suicidally blows them all up. Another True song starting off the top 10, a brilliant track here but I do think this is about the right position for it. 09 Rapture (Avicii New Generation Remix) (with Nadia Ali) Average: 8.00/10 High: 11/10 (Doug) Low: 6/10 (Seven, Pete) Nadia Ali re-released the song as a single from her remix compilation Queen of Clubs Trilogy. Released as the only single from the compilation, it was remixed by Avicii, Gareth Emery and Tristan Garner. Ali said she chose the three to remix the track because they were considered tastemakers in electronic dance music. She said she also chose to re-release the track because she wanted to introduce it to a new generation of music listeners who were not familiar with the original iiO version. The music video for "Rapture" was shot in December 2010 in Sacramento, California and directed by Brando Neverland. The video premiered on 24 January 2011 on YouTube and was set to the Avicii Remix. The concept of the video portrays Ali's elevation as the "Queen of Clubs". A rare remix Avicii did post-breakthrough but definitely his best remix (also the only one commercially pushed) enhancing what was a good song to begin with making it really great. A well deserved top 10 entry for this. 08 Without You (feat. Sandro Cavazza) Average: 8.08/10 High: 10/10 (Cow Cow, Dan) Low: 6/10 (Doug) "Without You" is a song by Swedish DJ Avicii, featuring vocals from Swedish singer Sandro Cavazza. The song was released on 11 August 2017 as the lead single from Avicii's EP, Avīci (01). "Without You" is Avicii's seventh Swedish number-one single, reaching number one upon release in 2017 and again after Avicii's death in April 2018. On 13 October 2017, the official remix EP was released, featuring remixes from Otto Knows, Merk & Kremont, Rob Adans and the winners of his remix contest, Notre Dame and Tokima Tokio. The song was used in the trailers and ad campaign for the 2020 animated movie Scoob! "Without You" was the opening track in Avicii's Ultra Miami set in March 2016. The song was used frequently across the world throughout 2016. A fan made video of the song was available online from September 2016. The song was released digitally on 11 August 2017. Jeffrey Yau of Your EDM said, "'Without You' is quintessential Avicii. Smooth, upbeat melodies marked with heavy string usage and a euphoric progressive house drop perfectly crafted for the mainstage. Simple, happy-go-lucky lyrics and chord progressions that will have you smiling from the first second to the last – this is Avicii at his finest." One of his big anthemic singles and fan favourites which holds up very well to this day, and gets a very respectable finish in this rate too given its lack of UK promotional push. 07 You Make Me Average: 8.38/10 High: 10/10 (photografdemon, Cow Cow, Lewis) Low: 7/10 (ElectroBoy, Riser, Tawdry) "You Make Me" is a song written and recorded by Swedish DJ and record producer Avicii and Swedish musician and singer Salem Al Fakir in collaboration with Swedish songwriter Vincent Pontare and producer Arash Pournouri. It was produced for Avicii's debut studio album, True and appears as the second track on the album. The song was released as the second single from True on 30 August 2013 as a follow-up to "Wake Me Up". The single made its worldwide debut on BBC Radio 1's The Pete Tong Show on 16 August. "You Make Me" is written in F sharp major and runs at 125 beats per minute. A song worthy of following up such a huge record, one that would be a major standout by anyone else's standards but just what we'd come to expect from Avicii, another big sign the album was going to end up being something very special. 06 Silhouettes Average: 8.38/10 High: 11/10 (ElectroBoy) Low: 6/10 (awardinary, Pete) "Silhouettes" is a song by Swedish house producer and DJ Avicii featuring vocals from Swedish singer Salem Al Fakir. The track was first released on 27 April 2012 in the United Kingdom. It had previously been leaked on the internet in early 2011, albeit with a different song pitch. Some music blogs erroneously posted "Flash" by Tatana and Scaloni. Another excellent track which had the huge task of trying to follow-up a record as big as 'Levels' but it was far from a disappointment and clearly still holds up well with the forum as one of his best. 6VJBBUqr1wM
October 28, 20213 yr Wardy to be demoted for giving Addicted to You and Silhouettes a 6  Wait… I know it’s not great, but I have given higher scores to the remaining songs!
October 28, 20213 yr Author 6Cp6mKbRTQY 05 Hey Brother Average: 8.54/10 High: 10/10 (photografdemon, Pete) Low: 5/10 (ElectroBoy) "Hey Brother" is a dance song by Swedish DJ and record producer Avicii from his debut studio album, True (2013). American bluegrass singer Dan Tyminski provides vocals for the track. It was written by Avicii, Ash Pournouri, Salem Al Fakir, Vincent Pontare and Veronica Maggio. "Hey Brother" sees Avicii giving his brother advice. The song, which serves as the album's third single, was solicited to Australian radio on 9 October 2013 and later released on 28 October 2013 in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. In March 2014, a version of the track remixed by Avicii himself was released on his remix album True (Avicii by Avicii), this time featuring new vocals from singer Salem Al Fakir. One of his big big hits to start off the top five, Hey Brother continued to prove he was a solid hitmaker with such an ear for a melody - it's easy to see how this became one of his standout tracks. 04 Wake Me Up Average: 8.54/10 High: 11/10 (awardinary) Low: 6/10 (ElectroBoy) "Wake Me Up" is a song by Swedish DJ and record producer Avicii, released as the lead single from his debut studio album True, released on CD by PRMD Music and Island Records on 17 June 2013. "Wake Me Up" was written by Avicii, Mike Einziger, and American soul singer Aloe Blacc. Aloe Blacc also provides vocals for the track and Mike Einziger of Incubus provides acoustic guitar. Peter Dyer also provides keyboard on the song. Avicii introduced "Wake Me Up!" for the first time live on stage at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami. The experimental rendering (it was accompanied by a live band with instruments and vocalists, including Blacc, Einziger and Incubus members Ben Kenney on bass and José Pasillas on drums) reportedly confused and angered a section of the electronic dance festival community. Subsequently, Avicii achieved critical and commercial success with the release of the single worldwide. Avicii's 'Wake Me Up' has been named as the highest charting dance track of the decade (2010-2019), sitting at No. 13 in the 100-strong list from the official UK Singles Chart. It is the only song to crack the Billboard Decade-End without making the top 3 during any week. "Wake Me Up" peaked at number one in much of Europe and charted well in various countries. The song has been described as a "summer anthem" by Variance Magazine and, throughout the 2013 festival season, Avicii included it as part of the opening or closing sequence of his sets at EDC Las Vegas, EDC London, Tomorrowland, Creamfields, Electric Zoo and the iTunes Festival. Due to the success of the song, Blacc later released an acoustic version of "Wake Me Up" in his solo EP Wake Me Up. It was also released as a promotional stand-alone single on Interscope Records, made available online for downloads via iTunes. A separate music video was also made. The Blacc single also charted in its own right in various charts. What is undeniably his signature hit and one of THE biggest and most fondly remembered hits outright of the 2010s, it isn't quite the favourite here however though still managing a very good rate position. Overplay hasn't soured this at all for me it's just a timeless classic! 03 Seek Bromance (as Tim Berg) Average: 9.31/10 High: 11/10 (photografdemon, Gavin, Riser) Low: 7/10 (ElectroBoy) "Seek Bromance" is a single by Swedish producer and DJ Avicii, made while he was under the name Tim Berg (stylised as Tim/Berg) and is also his second released single. It was released on 17 October 2010 in the United Kingdom, where it charted at number 12. Earlier that year, on April 15, Avicii released an instrumental song named "Bromance", which topped the Flemish charts, and peaked at number two in the Netherlands. "Seek Bromance" is a vocal version of this song, with the addition of vocals from the track "Love U Seek" by Italian DJ Samuele Sartini featuring English singer Amanda Wilson, who, in the case of "Seek Bromance", is not credited as singer. Avicii's breakthrough single now and ultimately still one of the tracks he is best known for amongst fans and it is quite the fan favourite on the forum too. I personally wouldn't rank it quite this high but it is undeniably a great tune, a very impressive introduction we all got to him. 02 I Could Be The One (with Nicky Romero) Average: 9.69/10 High: 11/10 (Lewis, Dobbo) Low: 8/10 (ElectroBoy, Pete) "I Could Be the One" is a song by Swedish DJ Avicii and Dutch DJ Nicky Romero, which features uncredited vocals from Swedish singer Noonie Bao. The song was released as a digital download in Sweden and the Netherlands on December 26, 2012. It peaked at number three on the Swedish Singles Chart. Internationally, the single topped the charts in Hungary and the United Kingdom, peaked within the top 10 in Australia, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway and the Republic of Ireland and the top 20 of the charts in Austria and New Zealand. Before its official release, the track had been undergoing various name changes. Initially without a title, it was first played by Avicii at the Super Glow event in DC Armory, Washington, USA on November 18, 2011. It was later given the working title "Nicktim", which is a combination of both producers' first names (Nick Rotteveel and Tim Bergling). The instrumental track contained a sample from "D.A.N.C.E." by Justice, which was later removed in the final version. A year later, a vocal version of the track was premiered on November 4, 2012 through Avicii's "LE7ELS" podcast, as well as on Nicky Romero's podcast "Protocol Radio" a week later. After fully mastering the track, they settled on using the track name "I Could Be the One (Nicktim)" while the artists are stated as Avicii vs Nicky Romero. In 2017, the track's vocalist and songwriter Noonie Bao revealed to Spotify that despite working on the track, as well as another one on his 2013 album True, she had never actually met Avicii until a number of years later. Another one of his very best hits and one I am pleased (though not surprised) has made it this high, there's just something so magic about this record. 01 Levels Average: 9.69/10 High: 11/10 (SevenSeize, Tawdry, Dan) Low: 8/10 (Riser, Pete) "Levels" is a progressive house song by Swedish DJ Avicii that was released on 28 October 2011 through Universal Music Group on iTunes. "Levels" topped the Swedish Singles Chart. Outside Sweden, "Levels" topped the charts in Norway and peaked within the top ten of the charts in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, the Republic of Ireland, Switzerland and the United Kingdom and received a platinum certification eight times in Sweden, twice in the United Kingdom, and once in the United States. Before the song's release, an early version known as "Unnamed" played during a radio program on BBC Radio 1 in the United Kingdom on 11 December 2010. The final version was not played until the Ultra Music Festival in March 2011, where it was referred to as "ID." Afterward, "Levels" played in many clubs and festivals around the world before its eventual release on iTunes. Avicii has stated that he made the song so that he could incorporate a vocal sample from the 1962 gospel-inspired song "Something's Got a Hold on Me" by Etta James. The music video was directed by Petro Papahadjopoulos, who came up with the concept after a phone interview with Avicii about the supposed "symbolism" behind "Levels." The video is about a businessman who starts dancing in his office in front of his co-workers and boss before being stunned by an officer and sent to the hospital. All the hospital workers slowly start dancing against their own free will after two of them touch a flower sprouted out of the businessman's mouth. As you may've noticed the top 2 actually share the same rate score but it is Levels that comes out on top having had more 11s. So yes it is a big congrats to Levels which is as you may already know my most loved and played record ever. The song has its 10th birthday today so it is rather apt that it does win here too. What an absolute tune this is, a true defining song of the peak EDM era and still one of the songs he is best known for. _ovdm2yX4MA Full results: 1 xx Levels 9.69 2 xx I Could Be The One (with Nicky Romero) 9.69 3 xx Seek Bromance (as Tim Berg) 9.31 4 xx Wake Me Up 8.54 5 xx Hey Brother 8.54 6 xx Silhouettes 8.38 7 xx You Make Me 8.38 8 xx Without You (feat. October 28, 20213 yr I gave I Could Be The one an 11 too so that should actually be the winner ;) but happy to let them both share the gold tbf!
October 29, 20213 yr The last 10 orders are all good, as always (not a fan of Silhouettes though, unfortunately). Good to see Levels and ICBTO shared the same averages. Well-deserved!
October 29, 20213 yr That top three  Honestly I was hoping for a higher turnout for this rate but at least we got the top end of the results very right.
October 29, 20213 yr Author I gave I Could Be The one an 11 too so that should actually be the winner ;) but happy to let them both share the gold tbf! For clarification ICBTO got 11s from you and Lewis, I'd forgot to change the names from the post I'd quoted. So Levels did get more 11s.
October 29, 20213 yr Oh right thanks for clarifying then. And thanks for running this, enjoyed listening to all the singles again!
October 29, 20213 yr What a top 5! Actually, top 10 even. I'm very satisfied with these results overall! Thanks for hosting :D
