They don’t care about chart positions, it’s a out money. £5 or £2.99 isn’t gonna make any difference. Fans will buy then either way.

Its chance of Top 100 is over, £7.50 for a 1 track cd single is very expensive, a full album would be cheaper :o

I got over being disappointed about Kylie’s singles chart positions long ago.

They could have easily made this a Top 100 hit this week - £2 CD single, 59p on iTunes, Remix released etc., but I see why they don’t bother, why slash prices for a single to enter at #93 - it adds no benefit to the overall album campaign if it enters at #93 or #123.

The CD single has sold 2k in the UK so probably 3k in total taking in worldwide sales? £15k in the bank from something that cost less than 50p a unit to produce.

I have learned to get over it but this will be the first time she will fail to get a top 100 even with a physical which makes it that bit more disappointing.

I think it shows fans are happy to pay £10+ for a vinyl single but CD singles at £7.50 delivered don’t create the same level of interest.

I’m sure it’s sold enough though for BMG to be in profit which is their main concern.

I think it will hurt BMG in the long run, as Kylie fans will see they've received a lazy product and paid a premium price, so they might not bother next time. Compare the Starstruck CD single that Polydor released to the ASTM CD single that BMG has put out...

Starstruck £2.99 + £1.95 delivery = £4.94

4 tracks (Original, Kylie Minogue Remix, Paul Woolford Remix, Acoustic)

Slimline Jewel Case

A Second to Midnight £5 + £2.50 delivery = £7.50

1 track (Original)

Card Sleeve

Handled as other labels do, a CD single can make money and benefit the label, artist and fans in other ways too.

think they used the single CD just to add to the Disco Guest List Edition bundles mainly as a selling point.

This - I got mine as part of the bundle and sure the majority of others did too, I mean I would have bought it anyway but as it was part of the bundle I didn’t take much notice that it was £5 tbh.

As expected, this falls out the Top 100 on today's update.

It's achieved 5,000 plays on radio as of last week, thanks to Chart Plus for the info.

.

The annoying thing with it missing the chart is, if you look at her chart history it's like the song never existed.

I mean, that’s not necessarily a bad thing :D

Their apparent lack of caring is very complacent and short sighted, in my view.

2k CD singles is a pretty poor figure compared to quite a few other CD singles this year, and it’s not even going to give her a chart position. Yes, making money is the most important factor for every release, but clearly other labels/artists are more spot on with their price points, selling more, making more money overall, and actually charting or creating a chart boost.

Missing the Top 100 with a CD single that should have helped it along? Unimpressive.

Agreed, they could easily have struck a balance between making money and achieving a chart position. It's worked for other artists/labels so there should be no excuse for Kylie when we know how many physical products she can sell. Even if the label don't care about chart positions, the fans certainly do and I think it's remiss not to take that into consideration.
2k of singles would have helped the song massively if they hadn’t waited so long to release it, physicals alone were never going to be enough alone when it’s now doing minimal on streaming or downloads - especially as it hardly took off when it was originally released.
I think when doing a single, have everything out at the one time, if the physical was out the week it was released it would have easily made the top 100 and possibly top 75, i know they don't care too much about the charts but the physical is an attempt to get the song charting in addition to making money.

Totally agree - Kylie is not the type of artist where streams build week on week so they can’t follow the same plan as other artists.

I know in the grand scheme of things 53-out doesn’t help much by releasing everything at once but it’s certainly better than missing the Top 100 totally.
