December 3, 20213 yr What a surprise, a really good Xmas song that ticks every box! Elton and Ed work well together and although not original, the video is great! This should end up a classic.
December 3, 20213 yr Yeh really enjoyed this so far (I’ve heard it 3 times this morning lol) and enjoy both voices and the production, hope it does well on streams and doesn’t fall short like his last two singles which did well but he’s been everywhere which might put people off!
December 3, 20213 yr Well, it's not bad, and they obviously worked hard on the song and video. However, it is a little clinical and marketing department produced. There are so many Christmas bells in it, and it has been produced to within an inch of its life. It smacks a bit of desperation for the Cmas no.1, so it is ironic that the Sausages Gang will be like, um, no x But all the timeless and best Christmas songs are produced within an inch of their life. That's exactly what you want for a Christmas song. The issue with a lot of recent ones has been utter forgettability, this doesn't have it. I really don't think there desperate for a Christmas No 1, I think Elton - an elderly man now with known health issues and Ed Sheeran a fading pop star - are desperate for a Christmas song that will immortalise them, not necessarily bothered about the No 1 which they know will probably go to a sausage roll (there's a nod to that in the video as well) - that's something they've probably managed, but only time will tell. December 3, 20213 yr I quite like it on first listen very festive its joyful, and as Gooddelta pointed out sounds like very Wizzard, Wham! etc etc in parts.. Just remains to be seen as a classic in years to come, and you never know it might be the Xmas #1 for 2022, 2023, 2024 etc etc etc
December 3, 20213 yr Its terrible if anyone else sung it no one would care ! Hope you're planning to turn your radio off for December given this is going to be on every radio station. It's a radio-orientated Christmas nostalgia-fest we haven't anything this good in that category since Darkness.
December 3, 20213 yr Christmas No.1 right there. I know it's Ed and he seems a tad over-keen to be No.1, but it might be nice to have a new Christmas related song topping the festive chart Can't see them beating Ladbaby. It's great though. Nice to have a new Christmas song for the next Now Christmas release.
December 3, 20213 yr I predict this to reach #2, have a few years of underrated status, be used in a successful 2030 romcom film, and finally top the chart in 2047, just before One More Sleep finally gets there too. In all honesty I love this, I actually heard it a few weeks ago when Ed performed it at my workplace (with strict instructions not to film/record it!) and I thanked him for writing a new classic which he seemed to appreciate. Will happily have this become a new festive fave which only seems to happen about once a decade these days.
December 3, 20213 yr Played it this morning when I was getting ready for work and didn’t think it was all that. I’d certainly prefer it to whatever Ladbaby has to offer but I’d rather something better came along for Christmas #1.
December 3, 20213 yr Love this, real Christmas feel to it and after a few more listens this will be a complete earworm,.

What a load of utter... Elton John wants a Christmas song that will immortalise him... he already has one for a start, then he is in the top 5 biggest selling music acts of all time and couldn't get anymore immortalised if he tried. Also a fading popstar who spent 11 weeks at #1 with one of his singles this year then replaced himself at #1 and also is on track to have have the second or third biggest selling album the year... I bet every popstar except Adele wishes they had that "fading" success. Edited December 4, 20213 yr by spiceboy
December 3, 20213 yr I’m surprised. I like it more than I thought I would. Will definitely top the charts in my opinion.
December 3, 20213 yr I mean it's cute and I like the video, but gosh it's overproduced and generic as hell. A bit like a Christmas dessert - sweet, but sickening in larger doses, I guess that was what they were going for!
