It's so so sad this is what it's come down to. I'm just so disappointed. I cried when Jesy left and really wished her success but I just cannot sit and defend her. My last bit of respect has faded tonight. What a total embarrassment.

I think Leigh-Anne is an amazing woman and I hate that this is happening so soon after she’s become a mother. I just have a hard time feeling like I have to come down on Jesy because of it. They’re two friends who have clearly fallen out, haven’t we all had that in life?

 

Because they’re two public figures and this is all playing out in public, we feel like we have to pick sides and go JESY IS AWFUL FOR THIS or LEIGH ANNE SHOUKD DO BETTER. But to me, I think both sides have human reactions. Leigh-Anne vented about an old friend with bitchy DM’s, Jesy didn’t defend her ex friend over these messages… and I think both of those responses would happen in an every day argument. I’d do the same.

 

So this is where I’m leaning towards thinking people are just mad about everything Jesy’s doing now. The blackfishing is wrong and it needs to stop, but her not defending an old friend is just a normal reaction?

 

This is pretty much where I land too.

 

I feel like people/fans/whoever are going to have strong opinions about this and will spiral whatever anyone says. The live in itself is a good point for people to be reading different things from the same behaviour.

 

We had something like this (not the same content but in terms of fan interpretation) recently in the Drag Race fandom where one queen called another some nasty names at her own private show and fans got hold of the video and spun it out of all proportion to say it was evidence that she was a horrible demon whose every apparent kindness was fake.

 

Ultimately my perspective on this is that Jesy is 1) ignorant to the harm she is doing and 2) I think probably a little greedy, because execs have likely told her that if she goes with this image she can be a bigger star in America. Nicki Minaj is just stirring the pot and probably making the whole situation worse because as a POC she is telling Jesy to ignore what Leigh said.

This is not to clear Jesy of any of the mess she is absolutely responsible for, but it’s making me sad that outside “parties” (NoHun and now Nicki) have escalated this situation so badly that it could really put a bust-up that could’ve been resolved in time into a position of no repair.

 

But this is getting out of hand. Jesy’s in a somewhat tough position here, either she goes against her collaborator and idol which would be quite a leap for her, or she says nothing and it seems like she doesn’t care. It’s becoming a bigger mess and the song itself is taking a huge backseat to it all at this point.

Not to be disrespectful but keep in mind all of the girls have been in Little Mix since they were teenagers. Their experience of real life has been shifted. They had no requirement and probably not much opportunity to do further education and have relied on either their own will to learn that themselves, or to just trust those around them to make serious decisions.

 

A lot of celebrities, musicians etc. are pretty bad at PR, money management, even time management etc. unless they have good advice.

Leigh Anne and Jade had every right to call out Jesy on the set of the Sweet Melody video if they felt that Jesy was going too far and could offend POC fans by doing what she does/did.

 

We do not know whether Leigh has spoke to her best friend privately so to assume she hasn’t is not a fair assumption of Leigh-Anne and her character. She may have spoken to many people, she may have only spoken to Jesy because she’s famous. We do not know. We shouldn’t call her character into question for something we can only speculate on.

 

We can also strongly infer that if Jesy hadn’t left, there’s a good chance we wouldn’t know that they’d even mentioned the blackfishing comments to Jesy on that day.

 

What we do know is this:

 

- Sweet Melody was a two day shoot.

- On the set of the video, Jade and Leigh-Anne felt they needed to raise Jesy’s possible blackfishing (again… as this was mentioned to Jesy in 2017/2018 also when she had her hair in braids on insta and was asked to take it down.)

- Jesy didn’t return for Day 2 of the SM shoot.

- Jesy claims it was due to the pressure of being compared to the others in the group.

 

Is it so far as a reach to say she disagreed so much with the blackfishing comment from Jade and Leigh that she left because of it?

 

Going back to tonight’s events, irrespective of what Jesy’s feelings are towards Leigh and vice versus. In a public domain such as that, Jesy (who by her own admission is an advocate for not trolling on social media) should have intervened. I appreciate Leigh isn’t entirely innocent after her DM’s but at least they were private and to someone she thought was a friend. In public, she, Jade and Perrie have been nothing but dignified and polite towards Jesy wishing her well - irrespective of what was going on behind the scenes, they still did it.

 

It is very telling that when Jesy was asked about the racism Leigh was encountering all Jesy had to say was, “she deals with it better than I dealt [with the bullying.]” In no way is that supportive and that speaks volumes towards Jesy’s attitude and mind frame generally but also her feelings towards Leigh, especially given that Leigh was nothing but supportive over Jesy’s documentary.

 

It isn’t unfair or unjust to say that Jesy is now coming across as “I want to do what I want and if not, you’re bullying me and I’m the victim,” and it isn’t a good look on her at all.

 

It’s all very interesting actually because there were loads of internet rumours around the Get Weird era that suggested Leigh and Jesy didn’t get on… but I don’t think anyone could have predicted this mess.

You know the phrase "when you're in a hole, the first thing to do is to stop digging"? Yeah, this is pretty much what this is. It was never a good idea to bring a notorious attention-seeker like Nicki into this.

Jesy The Clown makes me physically sick. Get your 5 mins of fame and tomorrow you will be invisible. Horrible human being.

I don't think Jesy is a bad person, to me it seems she just isn't in a good place and has the wrong people/ management around her and, this may sound harsh, but I also don't think she is very smart or intelligent . Especially after everything she has been through, why did no one tell her this maybe wasn't the best idea? To make this song and video + work with Nicki + have this whole image of "the bad girl" and then go on Instagram live with Nicki again. It just doesn't add up to me.

 

Nicki, on the other hand, is just totally vile and I don't understand why she still has so much support. It just sits very bad with me how they are trying to make Leigh-Anne "the angry black person", which mostly Nicki did but no way is Jesy innocent. She knew exactly what Nicki was going to do and say and just sat there. She maybe didn't see 'I agree', but at the same time, you show you agree if you keep silent. And this comes from the same woman who made the amazing documentary and who KNOWS what internet bullying can do to you.

I just saw the clip of Jesy talking about the comments that (I assume) Leigh-Anne made after the SM video, Nicki's rant and Jesy just laughing about that?? I hadn't seen that before my last post but that is even more disgusting behaviour. Jesy is just turning into a bully and racist, which is very sad to see.

Was Nicki told to act as an 'interviewer' for Jesy and that's why she asked about her history and seemed to not know she was in a group before? Or did she really forget she done a verse for Woman Like Me, performed at the EMAs, had them on her radio show and used them as a tool in her fued with Cardi?

 

Also that 5 seconds of awkward silence after Nicki ranted about Leigh and Jesy just stared at the camera, swallowing and looking uncomfortable....girl knows she's f***ed everything up.
