Sky Bet just confirmed to me that they won't be paying out on my LadBaby bets now.

Just lost a bunch of money. Merry f***ing Christmas to me.

Why would they not pay out? If you've bet on Ladbaby having Christmas number 1 and he gets it then you win

According to them it's because I bet on 'LadBaby' and not 'LadBaby, Elton John & Ed Sheeran' - obviously my counter argument was that the latter has only just been listed so how could I bet on something that didn't exist but they're not having it at all.

Ah FFS well glad I didn't actually put anymore money on then after all. The absolute scoundrels, putting up a bet weeks ago where the winner wasn't even listed!

Having a live chat with somebody else from Sky Bet and they're claiming their traders are looking into whether or not they'll pay out so we'll see. I expect I'll get the same bullshit answer but I'll keep you all updated.
At the very least I'd expect to get my stake back but this is betting companies we're talking about.

Yup, I assumed that! :drama: Ugh. Fingers crossed I guess.

I work for them and currently arguing with them.

Give me time :arrr:

That's silly from SkyBet. You'd expect to get your money back. Yes this is betting companies we are talking about. I speak from experience from horse racing bets.. You don't get your money back if you have put the horse to win and taken the price.... if it's a non-runner.

Come through for me, Viper!! :P

Why would the song be named after the third line of the chorus? All the previous ones were named after the original song titles (with of course the first one just using the original title in its entirety). I think it's almost certainly 'Merry Christmas Everyone'.

I do have to belatedly concede that this year LadBaby did in fact switch it up and name the song after something other than the original title (in this case the word 'everyone' doesn't even appear in the chorus of the original song). Wrong again :cheeseblock: I need to stop confidently asserting anything in this forum.

I don't think anyone suspected it being a cover of the Ed/Elton song, I guess it's good to have something at least slightly different from the usual catalogue of old dad rock songs x

I placed a couple of bets on Adele and Mariah back when it was still unclear if LadBaby would be releasing a song but when the Sun article came out I cancelled those bets and put the money on LadBaby instead (£15 at 4/5) - I hope bet365 are going to be more reasonable in their interpretation than SkyBet apparently are...

They are thieves!

I still don't get why The Lathums are so high in the odds! They just released a Christmas song over a month ago, there's no charity campaign for #1 or anything. They've even made it into the BBC News article on Christmas #1 contenders today - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-59591905

They always do that to make it out there’s a field of songs in the running and the fact they had a number one this year and are releasing an Xmas song is enough for them to fill the article!

Nope, they've confirmed they wouldn't pay out. Gutted.

I'd say it's worth fighting. Go see a solicitor.

It is a joke like, can you not go to the consumer council?

They'll be sure to be covered legally. Bet in the small print of your betting contract with them it says that the artist must be worded precisely. :(

Typical bookie bullshit there... LadBaby is still listed as the main credited artist so there's no reason that bet shouldn't be valid still
