Well, no one is arguing that Chris Brown is a bigger artist than Taylor Swift here.

But folklore with 80.6 with only 16 songs is not enough for you? Lol I don't get what do you want. So bitter...

People trying to downplay Taylor's insane success and pitting women against each other yet again? Shocking.

No one is trying to downplay or pit artists against each other. Again, everything I’ve said is a blatant truth.

Taylor and Adele are both talented successful women in their own right. This isn’t up for debate. And that’s not what I’m discussing here.

Don’t see the point in discussing this with someone who is being purposely dense. Some fans really are so in love with their favourite artists that they really can’t take the statement of a fact when it disturbs their utopian view of them.

I’m actually not a big Taylor fan, I haven’t streamed the new album and I’m not into calling people I don’t know dense.

Factually Taylor is #1 on Spotify with combined streams - I’m not sure what is difficult about that, it happens frequently when multiple versions streams are combined.

Folklore was an actual album and that was an impressive record to say the least. I have no problem with that now and I’ve never had a problem with it. I’d prefer that was still the record as opposed to this so-called album with 30 songs.

I never said it wasn’t. I was just explaining to you that this is what happens when you release an “album” with 2 versions of the same song. It’s nothing to do with the song per se. But obviously if people are playing an album from front to back, the combined streams for the song are obviously going to be higher if there are 2 versions.

All Too Well I suppose should get a top 10 position this week, though it won't hold up well enough to contend for #1. Then it looks like Red and IKYWT will end up being the other charting entries this week.

There's a good chance it will actually be State of Grace and not IKYWT as the acoustic version puts SOG at #4

The point is that the numbers are so high because Taylor Swift is such a big artist.

Ah right I forgot that had a 2nd version. Though IKYWT could perhaps hold up better throughout the week.

Well yes. That’s why Folklore broke the record with just 16 songs.

Her being a big artist isn’t what I’m discussing here.

also amazing that Rosalia is in at #137 with La Fama, sung 100% in Spanish, guess cos of The Weeknd, she's also #60 in the US

and of course #1 in Spain with 700K

The fact is, if Red had the same amount of songs as Folklore (which was an actual album with a cohesive set of songs), then it wouldn’t have broken the record. The only reason it broke the record is because it has 30 songs. That is a statement backed up by statistical evidence and it isn’t debatable.

The question is if you have a problem with that, and I do. I find it to be detrimental to the industry and the quality of music and albums in general. If you don’t have a problem with it, then we are never going to agree on this but you are entitled to your opinion.

I think we're being trolled, no one can be so dense?
Ah, the old trick of calling anyone who dares to so much as question the supremacy of your favourite artist a troll. Grow up.

You're making very wild assumptions here that she's everyone's favourite artist, plus you did also resort to name-calling earlier in the discussion.

No one is questioning that the reason why Red (TV) got that amount of streams is that it has 30 songs. You are just repeating it over and over - we get it, it has 30 songs but it doesn't change the fact that the numbers are amazing for an album that consists mostly re-recordings of 10 year-old songs. The album is a classic and regarded as such among her fans and critics alike.

Plus, even if it had only 12 songs, the two All Too Well's would've still outstreamed Easy on Me yesterday, and maybe done even better.

The fact they have a Taylor video in their sig is an indication.

That’s not actually a fact - if the album was half the length people may have just listened to it again increasing the streams of the individual songs.

Are we sure the OCC will combine the two versions of All Too Well since they're on the same album, given they didn't combine Jail for Kanye West or Never Enough from The Greatest Showman (and possibly others)?

In a few years, putting albums out with 50 songs to break streaming records will be the norm. And that to me will be devastating to the quality of albums and music in general.

Well actually, it is a statement backed up by the statistics we have. Your statement is conjecture.
