I know the majority of the fanbase is distinctly unimpressed with Spiceworld 25 in terms of artwork and the bonus content, and many have decided not to buy it. But I think we can conclude from the sluggish sales that the general public hasn't been attracted to it either. I wonder if at least a part of the reason isn't just the poor formats, but also... is the album just not as remembered and beloved as it is for their core fan base?

Genuinely, it would be doing better had the CD been available now, but this type of release wont appeal to causal buyers when it is so expensive and it seems like the usual places like Amazon and HMV are also not stocking all the different versions (which I think they were for Spice25, so what the hell is happening here???....)

It would have attracted more casual sales too if it had an available standard CD, which continues to baffle me as to why neither Spiceworld25 nor Spice25 have available...

Stupid decisions after stupid decisions! <_<

What a tragic way to celebrate the album :nocheer:

Also, everyone is pointing at Universal but in fairness to them they are a great label and really pull it out the bag for chart battles etc., with formats and exclusives etc., I feel they can only do so much if the girls themselves are seemingly blockers to everything because they don’t all agree (demos etc.,), it’s hard for the label to create excitement for something when there is literally nothing to be excited about.

Also the girls all seem to be heavily involved in what they don’t want released yet when the product is finalized they don’t even go out of their way to promote the release they supposedly all agreed to release on their social media.

 Yeah I listened to the live tracks yesterday and honestly found it shocking that they were considered acceptable for release. So laughable to press audio of that quality onto a vinyl too.

The sad thing is, the live arrangement of Viva Forever sounds beautiful, so now I’m pining for a version of that that isn’t muddy and sounds like a fan recorded it on an old dictaphone from behind the stage.

It gets worse - midweek #18 today!

Saturday: #4 with 1777 copies

Sunday: #8 with 1904 copies (+127)

Monday: #12 with 1958 copies (+54)

Tuesday: #18 with 2042 copies (+84)

265 copies in the last 3 days... tragic.

It's not a surprise anyway. There Is no effort for this project.

what a mess

I haven’t even played my vinyl yet, normally I play my new purchases on day of arrival, I have no interest, if I knew the live songs were rips off youtube I would have never pre ordered. tempted to cancel my CD order

Thet are looking at no more than 2500 max now for the week, interesting to see if it can get a second week on the chart come the week of December 16th.

Midweek #25 today -_- No sales information yet, possibly won't get it if it hasn't been posted on Spice Circle by now. I would estimate maybe 2,080 at this stage. At this rate we're looking at 2,200 for the whole week and probably missing the Top 40 by Friday.

It’s a shame but with such little effort put in what can you expect besides the same back?

The album deserved better for sure but I guess there could’ve just been nothing done in the first place. Even though it’s not a huge fave we did get Step To me on a mainstream release at long last. Those live tracks were inexcusable really, can’t believe they were actually green lit.

Gosh, what a sad week in Spiceworld -_- Pun intended

But ultimately, this type of effort kind of deserves the backlash... Terrible design of the overall products, lackluster tracklist and a terrible sound quality for the tracks released, are all kind of non excusable, even from a hardcore fan perspective.

Then on top of that, to have such a muted promotional campaign...

It's just all sad that such an iconic album got such a terrible campaign.

And to think Melanie C said this one was bigger and better…

She was talking about David

She was talking in general terms as the movie 25th anniversary will be celebrated and hopefully they get their asses together and carry on the celebrations next year. She wasn't talking about SW25 the album.
Its a real disappointment how its all worked out, i really wanted this to do much better, and had hopes of top 10, for me i have always much preferred spiceworld to spice so i wanted it to manage the same success and go top 5 but its so so far off the mark.

#30 today with 2,143 sold

It will probably be out of Top40 by tomorrow or over the weekend.

Still yet to see ANY post over the past few days related to streaming the album. From ANY of them, including the official band social media accounts. In fact, since before the launch date, there has been a whole ONE post about the overall release.

My main worry on this is that the record company wont bother with anymore Spiceworld and Forever related releases, and revert back to their strategy which is to focus only on Wannabe and at best the Spice album every now and then <_< And yes, they will probably blame it on us not buying the products, rather than the actual mess they made with this release... Had it been at least mastered and the live tracks properly edited, then more people would have bought this.

Still baffles me how incredibly disjointed the whole campaign has been, without even mentioning the bloody tracklist and sound quality.

It's all tragic.

Universal cant be happy with the sales whether they look at themselves or the fans who knows. Obviously the CD delay has killed the release week so their expectations must have been lowered when that happened. The CD was/will defo be the biggest seller of this release so to not have it is a big blow chart position wise.

Spice25 it was like 4.5k vinyls to 1.5k CDs but that was with 6 vinyls to 1 CD so per actual singular format the CD sold double the vinyls.

Being hopeful the extra period of pre-orders (including the push of this week), coupled with it being the busy xmas shopping week and hopefully everything in full mode for the movie anniversary we will be suprised by the CD release week and feel better with 2 weeks top 100.

I think a bass debut is normal, only with vinyls and cassettes, the box set will be released in December apparently due to printing problems, but those who had already pre-ordered remain? if so we can hope for a higher ranking debut in December

The Spiceworld 25 CD would have to sell much better than the Spice 25 CD for that to be possible, I don't see it hmm.
