I've just checked my votes. I dont know why I didn't vote for Doctor in the Tardis.

A shame “Doctorin The Tardis” failed to make the Top 100.

It's one year since the KLF put up the official video and finally put it up for streaming though. YAY! :D

Wake Me Up... is obviously a classic but not one of my personal Wham favourites. Too Shy is great as well.

One Moment In Time is a mountain of cheese, a lowlight from Whitney imo.

NO 91- 43 POINTS

Respectable Mel & Kim (Voter: Jackjones- 4 points, AH Gold- 16 points, Colm- 12 points, Nina West- 5 points, Bjork- 6 points)- No 1 for 1 week in March 1987

S/A/W’s second chart topper was Mel & Kim’s only one. It is written to reflect their attitude and not (as Pete Waterman claimed in later years) S/A/W’s response to press criticism of them which didn’t really happen until 88/89. The “tay tay tay tay” part was famously hated by the record company who wanted it removed pre release. Rate wise this is the first song to attract 5 voters.

NO 90- 44 POINTS

Something's Gotten Hold Of My Heart Marc Almond & Gene Pitney (Voter: JulianT- 3 points, Fiesta- 30 points, Colm- 11 points)- No 1 for 4 weeks in January/ February 1989

An unusual pairing that gave Pitney his only No 1 after he offered to make it a duet with Almond already planning a solo release with his album version. Not released in the US over fears it would be seen as a “gay” duet apparently. Either way it was Fiesta’s 30 pointer and so they are the first to lose their favourite 80s chart topper.

Back to the Ska revival of the early 80s with this track which leaves them with just one entry left in the rate.

oh really thought Mel & Kim would be higher, such a late 80s classic! loved it as a kid and even bought the 12"

Something’s Gotten Hold Of My Heart is a very beautiful song though quite an odd artist pairing!

Never really enjoyed Respectable - maybe heard it too many times in a certain kind of late night venue.

The Specials song is fun.

That live version of Too Much Too Young is such a blast - much better (and shorter) than the studio version.

Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go is overrated, Wham had better songs imo, but its a good pun in the title of the song

I like 'Too Shy'. 'One Moment in Time' is so cheesy its good imo! 'Respectable' is good too, technically the second House music UK #1 as SAW decided to use the cooler sounding house sound rather than Hi-NRG for Mel and Kim.

I watched a 80s rundown late lastnyt on Ch5 which I really enjoyed too.

Love The Specials song, have a feeling their other song will be quite high. The Pitney/Almond song is a brilliant track, only heard it for the first time on TOTP reruns, it doesn’t get much spins at radio these days!

Who’s surprised to see this one out already? The most successful and biggest selling group of the first half of the decade only scored one chart topper and it leaves the rate now

The 6th festive chart topper to be booted out was this acapella version of the Yazoo track from the year before.

I like all three of the latest songs to leave.

Beat Surrender is the best The Jam song, isn't it? Or A Town Called Malice?

A Town Called Malice for me!

3 great songs leaving there love them all even if I didn’t vote for 2 of them! Really love the Flying Pickets Christmas number one!
House Of Fun was one of the last two that I found particularly tough to leave out of my votes - I thought other songs needed the points more, but now I'm not so sure!

Their only chart topper but at least it gave us Eddi Reader so it wasn’t a waste.
