Jump by Van Halen>>>>>Final Countdown by Europe imo for 80s synth rock.

Maybe you're right but it wasnt number 1 you know.

So, the Swedish blond bombshell group represent very well the 80s rock.

Its weird to think Bon Jovi's biggest 80 hit in the UK peaked at number 4 only. I think they're huge in the US at the time. :)

Three amazing tracks there, can’t believe I didn’t vote for the George Michael track….

“A Different Corner” <3

My first Top 10 to drop out, I like the much more commercial and popular “Careless Whisper” but there is just something about “A Different Corner” that makes me love it so much more. Great that it almost placed Top 50!

A Different Corner is one of the most heart-felt low-key classy ballads of all-time, George at his very best. I love or like all the others too, but Imagine is 70's for me so no votes....

'La Isla Bonita' is gorgeous, definitely one of my favourite 80s Madonna songs

I've only become familiar with 'A Different Corner' within the past few years and it is pretty mesmerising, was close to making my votes.

'Imagine' dropping out before the top 50 while the song which 'borrowed' its intro finished runner-up in the 90s poll...

Just realised which act has more entries left than Madonna - that's a nice surprise! Hope they all make the top 50.

Oh of course, I couldn't think who it was yesterday but now it seems so obvious - I agree, all 4 of them are amazing

It's amazing how many beautiful songs George produced!

Titled to reflect the average age of the soldier in the Vietnam war, this one of the earliest “sampling” hits. It was helped by versions in other languages and multiple mixes.

Surprised this missed the top 50, everyone loves a bit of ABBA but clearly we prefer their other 80s No 1 in this rate.

Year break down of what's left:

1980- 5

1981- 4

1982- 3

1983- 6

1984- 6

1985- 3

1986- 6

1987- 8

1988- 5

1989- 4

There's only one run of 3 or more consecutive chart toppers left in rate so Buzzjack has decided that the best run of 80s chart toppers was from October 1987 to March 1988 comprising 7 No 1's from "Pump Up The Volume" to "I Should Be So Lucky".

I'm glad Pet Shop Boys hadn't lost any of their 4 number 1 hits. :D

19 was #31 in my final list. It wouldn't have changed its #52 position.

And what every voter has left- Asterisk indicates the voter still has their 30 pointer in play and tallies are given in points and how many entries are left

Oops at me in the bottom 3. Not surprised though.

Ghost Town, Into The Groove and The Model are definitely my least faves in the top 50 list. :teresa:

Oops at me losing so many comparatively! Heart I don't care for much but it's great to see the other three PSB songs in the top 50, and for them to be so popular as to get all of their No.1s this high.
Surprised I Should be so lucky has made the top 50! Alot s.a.w's better songs didn't reach number one imo.

Yes, I'm surprised too especially considering Feel The Fever and pippa hadn't voted as I said before.

I'm not complaining it is top 50 though.
