I like the Flowers interpolation in this but the Say My Name parts sound extremely shoe-horned in.

I'll give you good good though :lol:

I can't say I particularly care for this but I seem to be in the minority who doesn't mind it :lol: Oliver Twist was better but this is faaaar preferable to Wasted, comparing his top 10s.
Not the consistent disappointment from Arrdee after a good start with the Body verse and the brilliant Oliver Twist! :(

Flowers = trash

By comparison, it makes Oliver Twist sound like the works of Charles Dickens!

Biography

The country world feigned surprise when, after three albums of Music Row-indebted songcraft, Taylor Swift formally embraced pop on 2012’s Red. But no one should have been shocked: Any 14-year-old capable of persuading her parents to move from suburban Pennsylvania to Nashville for her career clearly has ambition to burn. And the thrill of following Swift’s rise has been watching her execute it flawlessly, largely because her melodic intelligence is equal to that ambition. Her early, youthful love songs heralded 2010's newly self-possessed Speak Now—which showed off her scathing wit—and evolved into knowing, ironclad pop fare that held its own against boisterous Max Martin production on 1989, her fifth album, titled after her birth year. Throughout, her songwriting has blurred the lines between the public and private, burying enough real-life clues (about, say, scarves and Starbucks) to make clear that only Swift can own her narrative, thank you very much, while still retaining a lyrical elegance. Though 2017’s reputation might have been perceived as a gorgeously constructed piece of dramatic theater—its attendant heroes and villains all real-life characters from Swift's public feuds—all that spectacle proved an attention-grabbing cover for her most romantic album yet. She turned up the romance even more on 2019’s Lover, but it was 2020’s folklore and its companion, evermore—ruminative, relatively lo-fi albums written and recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic—that earned her the Apple Music Award for Songwriter of the Year. - Apple Music

Why's that?

Why do I hate it or why it's a hot take?

The former, I just do. The latter, because I think everyone else loves it :P

the 'favourite petal' and radio edit 'good good though' bits are iconic

This Taylor song doing extraordinarily well compared to her other re recorded singles.

Biography

There’s a lovely moment a little ways into Apple Music’s Songwriter documentary about Ed Sheeran in which Sheeran, jet-lagged and carrying a cup of tea, straggles out into a yard in Malibu at dawn, sits down at his laptop and begins writing a song about the moment right in front of him: the crisp air, the birdsong, the hot tea, the day ahead. He gets a full verse in, melody and all, then pauses. “Songs are weird things,” he says. “How so?” an interviewer asks. “They just come and go,” Sheeran says, smiling. “And they never give you any warning.” For Sheeran, they seem to come pretty reliably. Born in 1991 in Halifax, England, he started out gigging on the UK pub circuit before releasing his first studio album, +, in 2011, and has since become one of the most unstoppable singer-songwriters in music, forging a light blend of folk, pop, hip-hop and dance that feels slick but lived-in, intimate but universal. Whether on his own (“Sing”, “The A Team”, “Shape of You”, “Perfect”) or in collaboration with artists from Taylor Swift to Eminem to Justin Bieber, Sheeran has a unique ability to strike a chord that feels both bittersweet and redemptive, good-natured and genuine: the hopeless romantic who convinces you he might just be right. In 2017, he was made a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, touching Prince Charles on the arm while shaking his hand—a breach of royal protocol, and an appealingly human one at that. - Apple Music

I'm not the biggest fan of country ballads really :(

Country is pushing it for All Too Well! :kink:

Only heard this for the first time last week, definitely not among her best stuff imo so thanks for sparing us the full version this time Scott.

Me neither.

As one of the few who has no strong opinion on Taylor either way, i'm afraid this is probably on the 'no pile' for me. Would have preferred the re-recording of Wildest Dreams to be the one that massively took off.
