November 26, 20214 yr Oden and Fatzo - Lauren is easily the most 2001 song on the current playlist, it really reminds me of some of the chilled house songs from the early 00s like DB Boulevard - Point Of View. Edited November 26, 20214 yr by 30 Spells Snakey
November 26, 20214 yr Point Of View!   I agree that Lauren by Oden and Fatzo sounds very early 00s.
November 26, 20214 yr Danny Byrd & D Double E - Selecta I'm really shocked to see these two on a Radio 1 playlist in 2021! :o I used to be fans of both if them about 10 years ago.
November 26, 20214 yr Some songs were way ahead of their time I mean I’m sure ‘Bad Intentions’ by Dr Dre was a Jan 2002 release and it was A Listed in November? Playlist was for the 1st week of December. Still massively ahead of the rest of the new releases. Edited November 26, 20214 yr by Sempachorra
November 26, 20214 yr it really reminds me of some of the chilled house songs from the early 00s like DB Boulevard - Point Of View. Point Of View!   Funnily enough DB Boulevard would be added straight onto the B-list after the holiday break, so only a couple of playlists after this one. It was A-listed shortly after. Edited November 26, 20214 yr by Sempachorra
November 26, 20214 yr Some huge tunes on that 2001 playlist, literally reading down it saying "bop, bop, another bop..."! Plenty of variety too. As for MJ, You Rock My World was a pretty big hit but Cry was a flop in the purest sense lmao. The last original Jacko era for me!
November 26, 20214 yr Didn't see Lange ft Skye - Drifting Away on the B list there until you mentioned it, what a song with a great vocal, it and the instrumental PPK - Resurection are really the trance era at its best! Yeh I remerged PPK played my local club at the time. Lange is unreal, I had so many of those cd singles from Positiva!
November 26, 20214 yr The last original Jacko era for me! You Rock My World is an underrated tune in his discography imo. I'm also a big fan of Blood On The Dancefloor from his previous album even though it's generally regarded as a forgotten #1.
November 26, 20214 yr Funnily enough DB Boulevard would be added straight onto the B-list after the holiday break, so only a couple of playlists after this one. It was A-listed shortly after. The only time they added songs further up the playlist in those days was the first new playlist in January after the Xmas break of it you were a huge A List star like Eminem/Madonna/Red Hot Chilli Peppers!
November 26, 20214 yr You Rock My World is an underrated tune in his discography imo. I'm also a big fan of Blood On The Dancefloor from his previous album even though it's generally regarded as a forgotten #1. Yeh ‘You Rock My World’ is one of my favourites of his just love the production and vocals.
November 26, 20214 yr Yeh ‘You Rock My World’ is one of my favourites of his just love the production and vocals. Agreed and i'd say it definitely fits in well with other music from the time which is good coming from an artist with a 30 year career behind him at that time.
November 27, 20214 yr I wouldn’t say Hit Em Up and Resurrection are that forgotten compared to other songs from the playlist as I still hear them at times
November 27, 20214 yr I’ve forgotten Blu Cantrell so was posting my own personal experience but yeh other people may disagree!
November 27, 20214 yr 'Hit Em Up Style' crops up alot on Kisstory and I think Heart play it from time to time too. Such a great track that deserved to chart higher than it did imo!
November 27, 20214 yr The only time they added songs further up the playlist in those days was the first new playlist in January after the Xmas break of it you were a huge A List star like Eminem/Madonna/Red Hot Chilli Peppers! Not totally true actually. It was rare but it happened several times in the early 00s, even with random acts like Jessica Simpson or Aaliyah. However you're right that huge stars like Madonna or Kylie got that treatment more frequently. It was far more common in the 90s though, so by the early 00s that trend was definitely dwindling down quickly.
November 27, 20214 yr Was it the posthumous release of More Than A Woman that was insta A Listed for Aaliyah? If so I can see why that was done.
November 27, 20214 yr Yeh it seemed to be a trend that occurred less and less as held back releases took hold just like now since 2015 a lot more songs enter higher up. I personally don’t recall the Jessica Simpson ones but interesting to hear!
November 27, 20214 yr Was it the posthumous release of More Than A Woman that was insta A Listed for Aaliyah? If so I can see why that was done. It was "Try Again"
November 27, 20214 yr Was it the posthumous release of More Than A Woman that was insta A Listed for Aaliyah? If so I can see why that was done. ‘More Than A Woman’ was actually add to the playlist printed on the previous page on the C List in mid November 7 weeks before it entered at number one!
