agree, worst idea ever, who cares now

Surely someone would know if Taylor had travelled to the UK...

The line up is awful - but mostly due to Covid messing things up and preventing international artists to perform. Like NO WAY Digital Farm Animals are popular enough to get a slot under normal circumstances.

However, even the last "normal" ceremony (prior to Covid) had a pretty lackluster line up, with Pink being the only international star to perform. Hugh Jackman was there too but he is not really known for his singing career.

doesn't Taylor live in London now?

It is a bit boring tbh, but DFA clearly isn’t the main draw for that performance though, it’s Anne-Marie and KSI who are both nominated for awards tonight.

tbf Adele and Ed Sheeran are amongst the two biggest names on the planet. It’s sad that ‘big names’ have to essentially mean anyone from North America.

For me, I feel it can be nice to give that platform to celebrate homegrown talent where the performance will be the biggest of their career so far.

I’m going on a complete tangent and it’s waaaay beyond this thread as I’m thinking of actors etc as well but it can sometimes be tiring that American names can dominate areas of the UK media so much and, despite much more limited success, sometimes get prioritised over UK names.

agree the Brits should be about celebrating UK music and they shouldn't care about US artists so much

there was really no need to add a category x best international single

Yeah Adele and Ed are huge current British names, Liam an icon here for Oasis, KSI has a large younger fan base etc. It does feel like there is a Doja-shaped hole now but I think in terms of British names it's pretty solid. I'm personally most looking forward to Dave!

I would've loved Måneskin to perform after the year they've had, especially as they're in London right now anyway, alas </3

i'm honestly shocked we've got no little mix

I wanted an international female performance, wouldn't have even minded another olivia performance

Some final predictions

Album: Adele - 30

Artist: Sam Fender

Group: Wolf Alice

Song: Ed Sheeran - Bad Habits

Int Artist: Olivia Rodrigo

Int Group: Maneskin (a very hard one to predict though tbh)

Int Song: Heartbreak Anthem (could really be any of them though, but my guess is that Little Mix could be there even if they aren't performing?)

New: Griff

Pop: Adele

Rock/Alt: Sam Fender

Hip Hop: Dave

Dance: Becky Hill (or Calvin Harris)

Agreed with this. I'm pretty happy with the names we've got as it's a good mix of big British names and up and coming British names. It does heighten the show somewhat when you've got a big international name there too and Doja would have ticked that box perfectly so it is a shame she couldn't be there.

I do love a BRITS collaboration of names you often wouldn't put together, so I'm hoping it's true Ed Sheeran is bringing out some special guests.

Im sure Ed will do the new single with Taylor, would be the perfect launch

Yeah it’ll be a big moment! I wonder if he’d release the collab today after the performance (if it happens of course), or wait until Friday?

Yes please! It's an incredibly vocally challenging song so I don't expect we'll ever hear it much again but to have just one proper performance of it at somewhere like the BRITs would just be spectacular.

Gutted to hear Doja Cat pulled out. I guess Adele and Sam Fender does make up for it but no one is going to put on a full-on performance in the way Doja could.

Doja performing would have been a great moment.

I expected it would be coming this Friday anyway consider its Valentine's Day next week which is a massive market boost for shit like that.
