but she was pretty low on NMF, no HH

and the UK seems to be more interested in Xmas songs at the moment than on new songs

This is a bloke who can normally get a No 1 with most of his releases, being down at 9th and not even outdoing Easy on Me is a poor showing.

 

Ooh, Vundabar are at #51 without Christmas songs! I'd love to see it go top 40 in the New Year, but it's hard for TikTok songs to stay around long.

I honestly thought it would’ve been #1 on Spotify

yeah there’s no two ways about it that’s a very disappointing start for Ed.

 

but no doubt it’ll go number one officially next week from signed cds.

#9 is actually higher than I was expecting it to debut, as I've said a few times I didn't think it's as nailed on a #1 as people were implying, new Christmas songs don't have a good track record and neither do Elton's recent releases which aren't based on existing older songs. So it's just relying on Ed's name power which is not what it once was either.

 

It could get #2 this week with its high pure sales I guess (that and that it is the 2nd highest song on Spotify that is on SCR, combined versions aside x), and might have a shot at #1 next week if they sell enough CDs.
