A little poll just for fun. What do you think should or could have been the possible 4th single from Girls Aloud's 4th studio album Tangled Up, released way back in 2007. The album spawned 3 singles "Sexy (No, No, No)" - "Call The Shots" - "Can't Speak French", all of which reached the top 10 & has been cited by many as a perfect run of singles. The album is packed with so many gems & stands as the best album of their careers.

Both "Control of the Knife" & "Close to Love" were in consideration at pne point (both of these a re great choices), but both got scrapped. However there's 9 choices in the poll above & just choose your fave potential 4th single.

Girl Overboard - what a tuuuuuune!

Neither.

My favourites from poll Crocodile Tears and What You Crying For, but both tracks didn't deserve single release.

Girl Overboard, certainly. Weren't there quite some rumours around that time this was planned as the fourth single? With a camp and glitzy video, this would have worked so well and would have easily been another top 10 hit. It would go OFF in the gay clubs.
I went for Girl Overboard, but only because Control Of The Knife should've been the third single.

Girl Overboard for sure, but Close to Love or Control of the Knife would have worked too. I bet Girl Overboard would have been fourth single if they weren’t bothered about continuing the consecutive Top 10 streak.

Can’t Speak French only reaching #9, albeit with really strong longevity, probably scared them off.

Gonna be in the minority here & choose "Control of the Knife", this was a stylistic departure from everything else on the album & their other singles with its mixtures of reggae & ska. This could have showed another side to the album & easily been another top 10 hit for the girls.
I desperately wanted 'Control of the Knife' to be a single at the time (and still in my heart of hearts wish it was, it's f***ing amazing) but on the one hand it is kind of essentially a solo Nadine track.
Girl Overboard absolutely! I think they picked the perfect 3 singles but that would've turned it into the perfect 4. I can understand why they were a little wary of a fourth single after Can't Speak French wasn't the safest top 10 single ever but it would've been amazing to have it in their singles discography anyway.

I wouldn’t say so, Nadine’s only singing by herself in the first verse? They all sing on the chorus & Cheryl has the pre-chorus all to herself, the longest part of the song given she gets to repeat it! Sarah also has a part that is equally as long as Nadine’s!

Girl Overboard is definitely the single that got away, Close to Love easily could have been too! They were spoiled for choice, it deserved to be a longer era than 3 singles.

It definitely deserved to be a longer era than what it was and a 4th single would have really helped extend it and would have got the album a few extra sales aswell.
