Posted December 29, 20213 yr As we approach the new year, time for some predictions for the chart/music in general over the next year! I'll get some down later on :)
December 29, 20213 yr - Liam Gallagher's new album to get the highest first week sale of 2022 selling over 90k - Jess Glynne makes a comeback, but it's not as successful as her previous eras with only one Top 10 hit, but her album does get to Number 1 - George Ezra also makes a successful comeback with a Number 1 album - Arctic Monkeys new album debuts at Number 1 with sales of 70k - Abba and Queen continue to hang around the Top 20 album chart all year with their Gold and Greatest Hits albums - Becky Hill to release a big summer smash hit dance-pop single that does well over the summer - Ladbaby scores fifth consecutive Christmas Number 1 single - Ed Sheeran and Elton John release another Christmas single - Clean Bandit continue to throw tracks out to try and get hits as does David Guetta - We get no new music from Calvin Harris, but we do get a few Love Regenerator tracks - Robbie Williams releases comeback album in Q4 which sells 60k in its first week. - Tesco announce they will stop selling CD's in all their stores May add more later, but that's the first set of predictions that come to mind.
December 29, 20213 yr I really hope Joel Corry releases his first album, I feel he has enough songs to do so now as well as another smash dance hit for the summer again.
December 29, 20213 yr - I'm gonna stick my neck out and say 2022 will be the year Rihanna releases something, although I'm hesitant to say it'll be an album - Jess Glynne will come back and flop in the same way Years & Years have with recent material - Lizzo will sadly fade back into complete obscurity with further releases :( - Jax Jones and Becky Hill will finally release a collaboration and it's a decent sized top 5 hit - Ewan McVicar becomes the biggest name in dance music by the end of the year - Jessie J will feature on somebody's track and make a chart return, albeit in the lower reaches - Sam Fender goes from strength to strength and has a huge year in which he completely dominates, and ending 2022 with the year's best selling album - Gayle struggles to make an impact beyond the first big single and the best she will manage again is #31 - Jesy Nelson's second single will crash in at #42 and the album will never be released - Olivia Rodrigo will wait until at least Q3 to release anything else, and it will be lauded for showing growth and progression as an artist
December 29, 20213 yr Some of these are wishful thinking on my part but: -Gayle's ABCDEFU will be the first #1 of the new year - Imagine Dragons will finally get their first ever Top 10 by a whisker - The Motto will blow up in the new year and be a reasonable hit - That tedious cheesefest by Ed Sheeran will go to #1 when the Taylor Swift duet version drops - With indie sounds arguably at their strongest in years,Arctic Monkeys will take a strong first week sale with their album (for the current climate) and get their first Top 5 hit since 2007 with the lead single - Similarly Liam Gallagher will finally get a solo Top 10 hit but only just - Rihanna finally blesses us with her long awaited comeback and it is a deserved success taking the highest weekly album total of the year and giving her another #1 single, it will be further in the direction she was going down with ANTI and not very poppy - Calvin Harris will at least release another single if not a whole album and it will probably do well despite not been as good as anything off 18 Months - A post-album single from Sam Fender will do reasonably well and peak in the Top 30 - Elton John will release an original track from his Lockdown album as a single on the back of his recent success but it won't do much - BUT there will be another veteran act comeback in the Top 10 we didn't see coming- Kylie, Madonna, Cliff etc... - Jade from Little Mix will have put out some solo material by the end of the year, maybe launching with a feature on a dance track first which will be quite successful - Sausage Roll Shite will be peddled for a fifth year running and will inexplicably be another easy #1 but the sales will be lower for a second year running and they will finally stick to their word and pack it in after this one - England will do reasonably well in the World Cup and a couple of the football songs will return to the Top 40 but they won't get far enough for them to have a major impact - There will be no new Lewis Capaldi album - Afrobeats will be a big sound with several significant hits in that genre - Generally the amount of different sounds and genres in the upper reaches of the chart will continue to diversify Edited December 29, 20213 yr by Jingle Bell Dot
December 29, 20213 yr Sugababes 1.0 will finally release a few singles and an album - the singles won't chart and the album will be a top ten and out affair. :P
December 29, 20213 yr UK will have it's most successful Eurovision entry for 15 years, and it will be a top 10 hit. Jesy Nelson will release an album that flops miserably. Harry Styles releases new material which confirms his status as a worldwide superstar. BTS have a UK no1 single Following their performance just before midnight on BBC1 on Friday, Kylie and Years and Years score a surprise top40 hit with 'a second to midnight'.
December 29, 20213 yr Yeah Jesy Nelson will flop hard and Boyz will be her only hit and I use that term very loosely.
December 29, 20213 yr 1. UK males will dominate the top end of the year-end albums and singles chart and highest weekly sales of the year in the albums. We will see Lewis Capaldi, George Ezra and Stormzy all release new material that does very well. Both members of Oasis will also release new material that sells in high numbers on the album chart but not the singles. 2. Beyoncé’s solo comeback is a success. She doesn’t quite manage a #1 single but comes close but the album becomes the best selling international female album of the year. 3. Jade from Little Mixs debut is better respected than Jesys! Jesy doesn’t release an album but does release two singles one a ballad and then a feature on another artists track. 4. Adele’s 30 again ends the year as the biggest selling female album despite minimal promotion outside of awards shows. 5. Taylor Swift releases two albums (both re-releases) one gets to #1, one doesn’t. We don’t see another new studio album from her but she gets several top 40 hits with her from the vault tracks. 6. The Weeknds next studio album performs well overall with several moderate hits coming from it but not on the level as Blinding Lights or Starboy. 7. Ariana changes genres on her next studio album. 8. Rihanna sadly still doesn’t release a new studio album but teases new music throughout the year. 9. Jess Glynne doesn’t manage another #1 with her next album in any chart. The album does ok and she manages a top 10 single. 10. Girls Aloud briefly reform for their 20th anniversary but don’t release any new material. 11. Ed scores more #1 singles. 12. Sam Fender also scores another top ten single besides from Seventeen Going Under repeaking. 13. We will lose a BIG music icon during the year leading to their discography getting a big boost, we also lose a relatively young and current artist. (This sadly seems more common these days :( ) 14. Mabel’s second album performs similarly to how Jessie Js second album did. 15. Cardi Bs second album goes to #1. 16. Lady Gaga doesn’t release a new studio album but The Fame re-enters the top 100 a few times during the year. She teases her next album but focuses on other projects and announces a new acting role. 17. Justin Timberlake releases new music but it doesn’t perform well commercially. 18. Despite teasing new music, Britney doesn’t release any new music in 2022. 19. Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson will each release new solo albums. Harry doesn’t release a full length album but is featured on another artists track which performs well during the summer. 20. Finally, we see someone who isn’t LadBaby get the #1 at Christmas. The song in question however still isn’t great but doesn’t mention a Sausage Roll in the lyrics or title. Ah so that was fun! These are purely what I think and not necessarily what I want but I am excited to see what happens and what doesn’t! Edited December 29, 20213 yr by Jord

December 29, 20213 yr I’m going to create my own charity single next year to rival Ladbaby and whoever else comes to play….
It was quite believable until the last one
December 29, 20213 yr Taylor will re-record and re-release 1989 first then Speak Now. Depending on the time of year both albums are released, she’ll score another two #1 albums. Eeek … please don’t come for me for posting this

December 30, 20213 yr Harry Styles features on a dance track Lewis Capaldi grabs best selling album of the year with two number 1 singles Paolo Nutini misses the top 40 with his comeback single. The album sells decently though. Tiktok latches onto a BJSC song that goes top 40.
December 30, 20213 yr 2. A virtual all-star charity single to mark the Queen’s platinum jubilee, lead by Gareth Malone Some charity single released on the back of the platinum jubilee is a very good shout, almost can't see that not happening now you've mentioned it (unless the jubilee doesn't that is).
