Biography

MEDUZA have spent the year leading the charge in returning house music to daytime radio, and succeeding. Their debut release, ‘Piece Of Your Heart’ featuring Goodboys, has now seen over a billion streams globally, reaching double platinum (1.2m units) in the UK alone and peaking at #2 on the Official UK Charts. This trend has followed Meduza globally, with multi Diamond, Platinum and Gold certifications around the world and a GRAMMY nomination. The follow up, ‘Lose Control’ with Goodboys and Becky Hill, has made an unprecedented impact, reaching the UK Top40 in its first week, now notching upward of 450 million cumulative streams, reaching Gold sales in the UK in less than 3 months. These headline successes are also bolstered by an impressive catalogue of hand picked remixes for the likes of MK, R+, Dermot Kennedy and Ritual, displaying not only Meduza’s signature sound and energy, but also the raw ability to create a stand out release whenever called upon. The touring diary for Meduza shows an almost insatiable demand for the hottest act in dance music, with El Row, Exit in Serbia, EDC Mexico and Las Vegas standing alongside smaller underground clubs like Fabric in London, The Rex in Paris, Toffler in Rotterdam, Amnesia Milan to name but a few key venues and events scaling the globe. Tours of Australia, Europe, South America and the United States already crowd the upcoming diary for 2020 promising to expose Meduza to millions of fans over summer. - Spotify

It's easy to forget how weird of a hit I Wanna Be Your Slave was, given the public were seemingly allergic to anything resembling rock until this year

the Shane Codd track is garbage and really needs to be wiped from existence

  • Author

Paradise was another dance track I couldn't really get into, for me it's just a lesser version of their past hits.

Tell It To My Heart was a bit of an improvement so shame that doesn't seem to be taking off.

Biography

The Killers dropped English synth-pop down into their glitzy, scuzzy Las Vegas world, and a familiar sound became brand new. The group launched in 2001, when frontman Brandon Flowers—then working in casinos—answered a advert from guitarist Dave Keuning; they wrote their breakout single, “Mr. Brightside”, at their first meeting. Rounded out by drummer Ronnie Vannucci and bassist Mark Stoermer, they rose to popularity with 2004’s glammy, post-punk Hot Fuss, its single "Somebody Told Me" a cheeky summary of a million conversations in the clubs. While initially seeming like a flashier counterpart to the dourness of The Strokes and Interpol, The Killers traded synthesisers for more guitars in the early 2000s, introducing a new sound akin to U2 and Springsteen on albums like 2006’s Sam’s Town and 2017’s Wonderful Wonderful. They do believe in love and rock, but they seem to feel a little sheepish about it as they get ready to go out. They returned in 2020 with their sixth album, Imploding the Mirage, and the Lindsey Buckingham-assisted single “Caution”. The song serves as both a return to roots and a mission statement for their future, as Flowers told Apple Music that it reminded The Killers of a universal truth: "Rock 'n' roll can be transcendent.” - Apple Music

Biography

hi there! my name is olivia! I’m 18 years old and writing songs is my favorite thing to do in the world. I’ve been doing it for as long as I can remember and I fall more in love with it every day. The first song I ever got published was called “All I Want.” I wrote it for a show I act in and it was a super cool experience that opened up a lot of doors for me. On the last day before Covid lockdown, I met the team at Interscope/Geffen records and a producer named Dan Nigro for the first time. It turned out to be a very momentous day for so many reasons. I spent most of quarantine writing songs in my living room and producing them in a garage, including ‘drivers license’. It was always a really special song to me but I never expected the response it got. It absolutely blew my mind and I still to this day refuse to believe it all actually happened. The day I am writing this is actually the day that I turn in my debut album! I’m sooo excited for you to hear it and I feel so grateful that I get to make music for my job. - Spotify

I'm really hoping the indie/rock revival is going to keep gaining pace in 2022 and dance music will continue to split off into distinct directions. Variety is the spice of the charts...
deja vu was a slow burner for me but I really like it, it's probably the single of hers I'm most likely to play of my own accord atm.

Nice to hear Paradise and Get Out My Head again after while; both strong tracks and still sound good.

Deja Vu is one of Olivia’s best tracks for me - it was this rather than DL that made me get into her.

Not really sure why 'Mr Brightside' is so popular in these things every year and always in the top 100 lol. I do like it so it's not that I hate it or anything but it's not one of my faves from The Killers... a bit overrated.

Biography

Travis Scott

Travis Scott has helped define the sound and feel of 2010s rap, imbuing tough, surrealistic trap with a distinctly pop appeal. Raised in the suburbs of Houston, Scott (born Jacques Berman Webster II in 1992) first made noise as an in-house producer for Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music, working on the 2012 label showcase Cruel Summer and 2013’s Yeezus, which arrived mere weeks after he dropped his debut mixtape, Owl Pharaoh. He went on to bring his gothic-edged sound to Drake, Migos, Madonna, and Rihanna (“Bitch Better Have My Money”), while his own solo albums—2015’s Rodeo and 2016’s Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight—playfully drew the commercial center of rap toward the avant-garde. Take 2018’s ASTROWORLD, a swirling, almost psychedelic set that not only managed to pull together Quavo, John Mayer, Tame Impala, and Sheck Wes on the same album, but also had them gel—a testament to Scott’s vision as an artist and superlative curator. Like West, his mentor, Scott has also brought tremendous energy to his live shows, creating a stage-diving, punk-like spectacle that revitalizes a space that too many rappers inhabit on autopilot. - Apple Music

HVME

Behind the mysterious name HVME (pronounced like the English "Hume") stands a young producer born in Murcia, south-east Spain. In 2016 he started with his first productions, which musically move between Future House, Slap House and Deep House. His international breakthrough finally came in 2020, when his track "Goosebumps", which was released on the label Lithuania HQ, went through the ceiling. By the way, the artist's name is an abbreviation of his civil name, in combination with the name of the Scottish philosopher David Hume (1711 -1776), with a "V" replacing the "U". HVME has been the nickname his friends once gave him years ago. - Spotify

Biography

Scottish singer/songwriter Lewis Capaldi began creating a buzz in early 2017 with the release of his debut single, "Bruises," a brooding exploration of a failed relationship that introduced his intimate piano and vocal sound. On the strength of his lone single, the Bathgate native sold out legendary Glasgow club King Tut's and notched millions of streams before dropping his follow-up single, the equally stark "Lost on You," later that summer. After signing with Virgin Records, Capaldi included both songs on his debut EP, Bloom, and capped off his banner year with a Scottish Music Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. The front half of 2018 was spent touring in North America and Europe in advance of his next single, "Rush," featuring Jessie Reyez. "Tough" followed a few months later. Both tracks were featured on his next EP, Breach, which arrived in November of that year. Capaldi's debut LP -- titled Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent -- arrived in May 2019 on Virgin EMI and featured the hit single "Bruises." - Apple Music

Topic

German songwriter, producer, and DJ Topic refers to his sound as "melancholic dance music." His songs typically combine striding house beats and light guitar melodies with yearning lyrics about heartache as well as dancefloor escapism. He made his full-length debut with 2015's Miles, and later scored a worldwide hit with 2019's "Breaking Me," featuring A7S. Tobias Topic was born in Solingen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, in 1992. He began producing music using a digital audio workstation when he was 16. Using social media to launch his career, he released his first single, "Light It Up" (with vocalist Jona Selle), in 2014. His debut album, Miles, appeared in 2015, containing several additional singles, including "Home" (featuring Nico Santos), which was certified platinum in Germany and Australia. He continued releasing additional charting singles such as 2016's "Find You" (with Jake Reese), 2017's "Break My Habits," and 2018's "Perfect" (with former Fifth Harmony singer Ally Brooke), which became his first song to reach the Billboard Dance/Electronic chart. Topic's first major worldwide hit, "Breaking Me," featuring Swedish singer A7S (Alexander Tidebrink), was released during the final weeks of 2019, and hit the Top Ten in two dozen countries by the end of 2020. Topic reunited with Santos on the 2020 single "Like I Love You," and collaborated with A7S and rapper Lil Baby on "Why Do You Lie to Me." - Apple Music

A7S

A7S is the enigmatic alter ego of Swedish songwriting sensation, Alexander Tidebrink. Having amassed over 1 Billion worldwide streams under his real moniker and for others, A7S is an altogether different project – darker, groove-heavier, but still infinitely melodic. Tipping his hat to fellow sonic travellers Diplo, Jon Bellion and The Weeknd, A7S blends seductive beats and a twilight vibe with perennial hooks. His laser-focus on melody is front and centre and the imaginative production never eclipses or overrides the song. Although A7S has just begun releasing material, he’s already a chart phenomenon – storming out of the gate with his first single “Breaking Me”, which is one of the top 10 most streamed tracks global (top 100 best streaming artist), top 3 in Germany, UK and Netherlands and No.1 on the Shazam and European airplay charts. For an artist in his mid-twenties, his style is confident, and more importantly, fluid. After all, genre is irrelevant when everyone you know is singing your chorus. Watch and wait as his audience grows exponentially with each release. - Spotify
