Criminal that 'So Hard' finished so low. What an absolute tune (although I could say that about most of the PSB's output).

Love that JX song too

'If You Were With Me Now' is quite nice but obviously nowhere near Kylie's best so it's done about as well as could be expected.

George Michael and Mary J Blige - As

All three of George Michael's number 4s received votes and this is the first to drop out. Released in 1999, it's a cover of a Stevie Wonder song from 1976.

Limahl - Never Ending Story

Oasis - Sunday Morning Call

Post Malone featuring Ty Dolla $ign – Psycho

Written and produced by Giorgio Moroder for the film of the same name, this features uncredited vocals by Beth Anderson. That's not her in the video, instead it's Limahl's backing singer Mandy Newton. Oasis normally do well in these polls but not this year, their second and final song is out.

Chic - I Want Your Love

Derek and the Dominos - Layla

Vengaboys - Up And Down

This is the song I referred to yesterday as having the best piano solo on a number 4 single. That's not technically correct as the single is only three minutes long and fades out before the piano comes in. This is the full seven minute album version. The song got to number 7 in 1972, its number 4 peak came ten years later. It's ranked at number 27 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest songs of all time but only two of us voted for it here. From 1979, I Want Your Love is Chic's highest charting single. We also have Vengaboys first UK hit, Up And Down.

Nothing I voted for in that 33-36 section, but that's the better Oasis #4, Chic moving disco into pop, and a somewhat guilty pleasure from the Vengaboys.
Never Ending Story is the only one I'll miss from this lot, and that's mainly thanks to Stranger Things
Sad to see 'Rendez-Vu', 'Wake Me Up', 'What Goes Around...Comes Around' and 'Destination Calabria' dropping out since I last commented!

The Beatles - Love Me Do

Neon Jungle - Braveheart

Paul Young - Come Back And Stay

From 1983, this was Paul Young's follow-up to his number 1 single Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home). More than 50 years separate the other two songs. Love Me Do reached number 17 as the Beatles' debut single in 1962. The 20th anniversary re-issue peaked at number 4. Braveheart was one of four top 20 hits for Neon Jungle (one of whom was Jessica Plummer) from 2013-14.

Drake featuring Majid Jordan – Hold On, We're Going Home

Billie Piper - Something Deep Inside

From 2000, this was the last of Billie Piper's seven top 5 singles. Hold On, We're Going Home is the only one of Drake's four number 4s to receive votes.

Oleta Adams - Get Here

Chris Brown featuring Benny Benassi – Beautiful People

Dollar - Give Me Back My Heart

Depeche Mode - Precious

Bob Marley and the Wailers - Buffalo Soldier

Madness - It Must Be Love

The promo video fades out after four minutes so here's the full five minute version of Trevor Horn's pop ballad masterpiece. Dollar and Depeche Mode have identical performances on this poll, one song with no votes, one with 30 points and the final one with 39 points. Neither group have any top 3 hits. From 2005, Precious was Depeche Mode's last top 10 single. Madness also leave at this point with the last of their three, a cover of the Labi Siffre song from 1971.

Evanescence – Call Me When You're Sober

Marvin Gaye - Sexual Healing

Inner City - Good Life

Kiesza - Giant In My Heart

N-Trance – Set You Free (Remix)

Terence Trent D'Arby - Wishing Well

From 1982, this was Marvin Gaye's first top 40 hit for five years. Set You Free had reached number 2 for N-Trance in 1995, it was a remix that took the song back to number 4 in 2001.

Sorry, I left Paul Young out of the list on 37 points. As Come Back And Stay is a better song than Love Me Do, I've changed the youtube clip as well.

'It Must Be Love' one of the best songs of the 80s!

And likewise, 'Set Me Free', one of the best songs of the 90s!

I wonder who else voted for ‘Something deep inside.’ It got my 14 vote. Loved that song in my younger years.

One of my fave songs of my childhood.

Same ! Thought I was gonna be the only vote #goodtaste

Actually I also loved Something Deep Inside at the time but it seems very 2000 looking back.

Beautiful People is the latest of my votes to drop out - it’s a fantastic song, though I get that people don’t like to vote for Chris Brown.

Precious is really good too.
