My top score was Better Days by Dermot Kennedy.

Heard for the first time when in was Hottest Record in the World and still love it now.

Should have made Top 10 officially, and should have made the Top 20 here... though I can see why such a ballad could be quite divisive.

#20. Olivia Rodrigo - Favorite Crime

UK chart run: 17-21-18-24-30-31-36-x [7 weeks]

Points: +107 | Positive votes: 12 | Negative votes: 00

Top Supporter: Brer, Bjork, Smint, JulianT [+15]

Breaking through in a big way this year we had Olivia Rodrigo getting one of her album tracks into the top 20 and racking up a good bit of support. It wasn't quite anyone's favourite crime but four people ranked it in second place.

#19. Anne-Marie & Niall Horan - Our Song

UK chart run: 22-26-22-18-13-13-16-18-17-20-21-24-25-69-x [14 weeks]

Points: +110 | Positive votes: 11 | Negative votes: 00

Top Supporter: Joseph, Frenchie, Feel_The_Fever [+18]

Anne-Marie had a fairly good year with two top 10 hits but this one just missing out despite teaming up with one of 1D's more successful solo stars in Niall Horan. Their song also reaches the top 20 in this poll helped by a few top marks.

#18. Becky Hill - My Heart Goes (La Di Da) (feat. Topic)

UK chart run: 36-31-24-20-17-15-13-11-11-11-11-13-36-55-x-38-48-... [16 weeks]

Points: +128 | Positive votes: 18 | Negative votes: 00

Top Supporter: Conorw [+18]

Sadly being the unluckiest #11 hit ever spending a whole month lodged outside the top 10 much to Becky's own disappointment. She previously won this poll with "Lose Control" but sadly wasn't ever in contention with this.

#17. Doja Cat - Streets

UK chart run: 59-20-18-12-12-14-13-14-19-12-16-22-26-60-64-66-64-73-x [18 weeks]

Points: +130 | Positive votes: 14 | Negative votes: 00

Top Supporter: Dot, Brokenrecords [+15]

It was a big year for Doja Cat having three big top 20 hits - the first of these happened to be the lowest charting in this poll and was taken as the last single of her previous album after a TikTok boost.

#16. Swedish House Mafia - Moth To A Flame (feat. The Weeknd)

UK chart run: 15-22-27-34-37-58-x-49-44-... [8 weeks]

Points: +135 | Positive votes: 12 | Negative votes: 00

Top Supporter: Dot, Coi, Dobbo [+18]

Making their grand comeback after 9 years dry of music with a little help from one of music's hottest properties in The Weeknd, it could only score them a month in the top 40 and the lowest peak of their career although the first 2 songs they released of the year made no impact whatsoever.

#15. Abba - I Still Have Faith In You

UK chart run: 14-55-x-60-x [3 weeks]

Points: +135 | Positive votes: 14 | Negative votes: 00

Top Supporter: rio309, gooddelta [+18]

Another anticipated Swedish comeback this year, marking their first music in literal decades Abba got themselves a top 10 hit with this being an additional top 20 for them too.

#14. Doja Cat - Woman

UK chart run: 26-20-20-20-14-14-14-14-14-13-14-14-16-19-48-71-x-56-62-... [18 weeks]

Points: +140 | Positive votes: 17 | Negative votes: 01 [rio309]

Top Supporter: Nick F1, alby [+18]

Doja Cat back again, who was Nick and Alby's favourite woma-woma-woman of the poll but she still has one song left in the running.

#13. Mabel - Let Them Know

UK chart run: 38-42-39-46-39-40-31-23-19-21-24-29-71-x [13 weeks]

Points: +141 | Positive votes: 19 | Negative votes: 00

Top Supporter: Jack, LMLou [+18]

Outperforming her collab with Joel Corry we got this from Mabel which signalled her finally moving on from the Great Expectations era and being helped by a Love Island promo.

#12. Lorde - Solar Power

UK chart run: 17-45-66-x-52-x [4 weeks]

Points: +150 | Positive votes: 17 | Negative votes: 00

Top Supporter: Dot, Brokenrecords [+15]

The long awaited comeback by Lorde wasn't perhaps as well regarded by her fans as previous material but she still picked up a good deal of support on Buzzjack to land here.

#11. Griff - Black Hole

UK chart run: 39-37-33-41-48-50-47-35-23-18-20-26-29-23-x [14 weeks]

Points: +150 | Positive votes: 18 | Negative votes: 00

Top Supporter: Dot, Coi, Dobbo [+18]

One of the year's hotly tipped breakthrough acts, who in the end managed to get a decent sized hit out of this with some help from a well timed Brits performance.

#10. The Weeknd - Take My Breath

UK chart run: 13-15-17-21-27-27-23-25-25-25-23-24-32-30-36-43-66-x-57-14-... [19 weeks]

Points: +151 | Positive votes: 21 | Negative votes: 00

Top Supporter: chrissmith276 [+18]

It is not to be for The Weeknd to top the poll for a second year running as Take My Breath only manages to get inside this top 10 being his top performing song of the year.

#09. Masked Wolf - Astronaut In The Ocean

UK chart run: 58-44-35-32-30-24-23-20-18-15-16-16-14-14-17-13-12-16-15-20-57-72-x [22 weeks]

Points: +156 | Positive votes: 17 | Negative votes: 00

Top Supporter: Smint, JulianT [+18]

The top performing rap song of the year in this poll, it got the Australian astronaut his first (and only) hit having been given a major label push after getting viral.

#08. SZA - Good Days

UK chart run: 28-14-14-13-17-18-20-20-46-52-64-72-75-x [13 weeks]

Points: +162 | Positive votes: 15 | Negative votes: 01 [Dobbo]

Top Supporter: Brer, jimwatts, broken records [+18]

The biggest solo hit from one of RnB's hot properties clearly making a good impression on Buzzjack too having been one of the year's first new hits.

#07. Shouse - Love Tonight (David Guetta Remix)

UK chart run: 71-66-58-57-52-54-23-22-18-19-20-21-26-72-x [14 weeks]

Points: +166 | Positive votes: 18 | Negative votes: 00

Top Supporter: Jason, LiamSine [+15]

One of the year's biggest dance records across Europe and finally making an impression over here too following a David Guetta remix, becoming one of 3 songs with credited dance producers in this top ten.

#06. Coldplay - Higher Power

UK chart run: 12-25-19-21-23-20-21-24-24-29-23-28-34-33-64-x-26-36-53-65-x [19 weeks]

Points: +170 | Positive votes: 17 | Negative votes: 01 [LMLou]

Top Supporter: WhoOdyssey [+15]

Proving their ability to still get hits two decades into their career Coldplay came back with a little help from Max Martin getting a reasonable top 20 hit which they'd eventually follow with an even bigger hit thanks to BTS.

Which means the top 5 is A-Z:

Ava Max - My Head & My Heart

Doja Cat - Need To Know

Ewan McVicar - Tell Me Something Good

Majestic & Boney M. - Rasputin

Måneskin - Zitti E Buoni

Decent placing for Good Days. Glad my point for Take My Breath made a difference. Woman had to be #14 didn't it. Need To Know is the only Doja one I didn't vote for, but it's decent and the rest of the top 5 got my vote so I'm happy with that.
Quite a lot of my votes falling between 15 and 6. Nice result for my top scorer Astronaut. Higher Power took a while to click with me but now I love it so glad it’s done well. Glad Need to Know is Doja’s highest. Ewan to win!

Not a fan of any of those 5 left :/

Much preferred Favourite Crime, Solar Power or Black Hole

#05. Majestic & Boney M. - Rasputin

UK chart run: 70-49-38-29-31-27-21-18-19-22-16-11-11-16-18-20-23-31-63-73-x [20 weeks]

Points: +176 | Positive votes: 22 | Negative votes: 00

Top Supporter: Dan [+18]

Taking an old Boney M hit and housing it up for 2021 Majestic sadly had one of the year's unluckiest top 10 misses but manages to make the top 5 in this poll.

#04. Ewan McVicar - Tell Me Something Good

UK chart run: 73-57-52-42-34-30-21-15-15-15-16-18-30-66-x-16-26-... [16 weeks]

Points: +186 | Positive votes: 18 | Negative votes: 00

Top Supporter: Jason, LiamSine, Rush [+18]

However it is Ewan McVicar who has the year's biggest dance hit in this poll having broke through with this which was Radio 1's most played track of the year.

#03. Doja Cat - Need To Know

UK chart run: 37-63-x-29-22-21-12-11-12-19-17-46-48-49-50-59-61-71-x [17 weeks]

Points: +189 | Positive votes: 23 | Negative votes: 00

Top Supporter: LMLou, Nick F1, Alby [+15]

Doja Cat's biggest non top 10 hit of the year by a fairly reasonable stretch in this poll giving her the bronze medalist.

#02. Måneskin - Zitti E Buoni

UK chart run: 17-25-41-57-51-54-67-69-x [8 weeks]

Points: +240 | Positive votes: 22 | Negative votes: 00

Top Supporter: DalekTurret32, WhoOdyssey, Jade, Ansel [+18]

Having won Eurovision they managed to go all the way into the top 20 with this and picked up a ton of Buzzjack support in the process. The song looked like winning this event too in the first half of the voting but it wasn't meant to be.

#01. Ava Max - My Head & My Heart

UK chart run: 59-46-35-29-25-19-22-19-18-19-19-19-19-18-20-27-57-65-61-65-x [20 weeks]

Points: +276 | Positive votes: 28 | Negative votes: 00

Top Supporter: Riser, Mack [+18]

So it is congratulations to Ava Max - having got oh so close with So Am I and Kings & Queens in previous years she has finally won this poll tonight. A round of applause for Ava's head and her heart! As for whether The Motto be able to reach high enough to contend for 2022, only time will tell.

Ok - well not my top choice for the win but I did give it a few points. It’s a really clever little song and it grew on me over time. Well done Ava and thanks Dan for hosting!
