Yard Act to find some fake cassettes by the end of the week pls.

Shame that it does appear physical shortages might be blocking Meat Loaf from getting the #1 album this week but he will be safely getting a new peak at least!

I think Surface Pressure could break into the top 4 this week as it is top 2 on Spotify.
Was the late 70s not just ‘punk’ as that’s when it originated/became big?

Punk rock predates it by a few years (think "Ramones" self-titled in 1976), and post-punk's hey day is definitely the late '70s/early '80s. Then you get post-punk revival around the late '90s to mid '00s, and then I'm not sure if this current wave has a particular name attached to it.

If only - Yard Act seem to have next to nothing available now and Y&Y are pulling out all the usual tricks.

Will be interesting to see if either of them are bothering the Top 75 next week :kink:

sure Y&Y will still get some fake streams next week if people stream King, Shine etc as they count towards the new album too
Its more 'post post punk' now as post punk was in the late 70s, early 80s!

We're were way past that bit I think your dates are out

75 to 80ish - punk

Early 80s to.late 80s - new wave / post punk

90s - first wave of pop punk / post post punk

mix 00s - second wave of pop punk / post post punk

2020s - latest wave of pop punk / post post post punk

Only invluding the waves of band that had some chart footprint, there was a lotof punk bands around in the early to mid 20101s but they haven't really done much singles chart wise.

In the absence of a full ACR status update, here are the songs on DCL-2 and DCL-1 in the top 40 mids today

DCL-2 (a decline is needed this week for these to move to ACR)

Acraze feat. Cherish - Do It To It

Adele - Easy On Me

Ewan McVicar - Tell Me Something Good

SwitchOTR feat. A1 x J1 - Coming for You

DCL-1 (two more consecutive declines are needed, including this week)

Adele - I Drink Wine

ArrDee - Flowers (Say My Name)

Coldplay & BTS - My Universe

D-Block Europe feat. AJ Tracey - Make You Smile

Dermot Kennedy - Better Days

Ed Sheeran - Overpass Graffiti

The Weeknd - Take My Breath

Everything else in the top 40 is either too recent, had an increase last week, or already on ACR.

Gayle and Sam Fender back to 0 weeks of decline, things we love to see! Hopefully give them another 2/3 weeks more in the top 10

The Years & Years Deluxe version of "Night Call" being reduced to £5.99 shows the levels they will go to hold on to number #1, not sure it will be enough now though.

I paid £12.99 on Sunday (from Amazon) for the Deluxe CD, I returned it today though - and ordered another at £5.99, wonder whether that counts as 2 Sales lol.

I don't see what's wrong with them reducing the album to £5.99, all record labels should be doing this when the battle is that close to number #1. I'm guessing had their greatest hits not been included they would probably be at #2 right now.

reducing the album price midweek happens like 95% of the times every week:D
Yard Act closing the gap, we love to see it *.* (they're not my favourites from the current post-punk scene but I have enjoyed a few of their songs, particularly liking the title track from the album, and it would be great to see the scene producing a #1 album).

Don't think the midweek reduction happens as much as 95% (or even close to that). May be for the Albums that need to improve/stabilize their chart position but not for a lot of established Artists (where the chart position is less important).

My issue with it is there will be some fans (and I don't include myself in this category) who want their copy on day of release - these are the ones that are paying over the odds and that doesn't seem right

Yard Act have just released a load more bundles with two copies of their album (physical & digital) + one of their debut EP 'Dark Days'.

All their other bundles with just the album are now back in stock.

Never even heard of Yard Act haha, are they new ?

I've seen the name 'Windmill scene' (named after a pub in London where a few of them have performed I believe) a few times to collectively refer to the current wave of British post-punk/art rock bands, not sure how widespread that is though.

of course I meant the new releases and not old albums, I think most newies get discounted on itunes half-week

and if there's a big fight for #1 they almost give you the album for free in the end
