This week's challenge is acting/comedy - the queens must create moments for a fake "supertease" Drag Race trailer. A lot of these actually showed up in the real trailer for this season :lol: Guest judge Loni Love with a Night Of 1000 J-Los runway, I wish they had got J-Lo to actually judge!

This challenge seems so fun so I can't wait to see what they come up with! Willow's team seems noticeably a LOT stronger for this kind of challenge.

I’ll be judging anyone who wears the green Versace dress for the runway as basic af. Quite a weird choice of runway to do though, she’s only making an appearance and doesn’t really have a portfolio full of iconic looks like Gaga and Madonna did

I loved that challenge! Such a refreshing approach to the acting challenge, I hope this becomes a staple. It's been AGES since we had iconic moments remembered and referenced like this too.

 

I would personally have edged to giving DeJa the win, she had a really varied, funny performance and I love that she interpreted the J-Lo look in her own style rather than copying it. But the whole top 3 would have deserved that win if they did, Angie killed it as I was howling at "YOU UGLY BITCH" :lol: I also loved Willow's take on the character, you wouldn't have expected that but it just shows what I love about her most, she always looks at everything with an eye that nobody else would use and stands out every single time. I agreed 100% with the bottoms too, so a good week for the judging!

 

Keri really needs to step it up, yes she is stunning and she seems like such a sweetheart, but she gets in drag and it's just like... ok you're pretty? What else? She can't let go and have that bigger personality in challenges etc., and it's just the most boring type of drag to me. She did win that lipsync, but it wasn't stellar or anything, I just feel Alyssa did too much for the song and kind of pulled out every move that popped into her head whereas Kerri just felt the song and did an... adequate performance. I wasn't bothered if either of them went tbh :lol:

 

The judges are actually right on Kornbread too tbh, you just don't get anything out of drag persona that you don't get from her actual personality? She's always on 100 and that just gets tiring, she is hilarious and has a good heart but that doesn't mean always being on 100 isn't annoying. You can't rely on just a personality anymore than you can just rely on looks, you still have to bring the right things to the right challenges.

Might as well just cancel the series and have a Willow vs Angeria lipsync for the crown. :lol:

The challenge was actually good, I think most of them did a good or decent job and not one queen did really bomb. So that was nice to see. The runway, however, was disappointing. Some good looks but most of them chose looks that are not very well remember J.Lo looks. I know she doesn't have the same amount of iconic looks as the likes of GaGa, Madonna or Xtina (except for the obvious one) but they could have definitely picked some more interesting ones than the red carpet ones. The red dress from The Cell or the fur coar from Hustlers spring to mind. And not one video? What about the 'I throw all my clothes away' moment from Love Don't Cost A Thing, that would have been a fun runway moment. Or the Ain't It Funny outfit. The Jenny From the Block beige look is very well known or even the pink All I Have coat. And if they really wanted to go for a red carpet look; the Oscars 2003 or VMA 2000 are so much more iconic.

This is really shaping up to be the best modern US Drag Race season for me, a great cast with great challenges so far (and next weeks looks good too) Also liking the judging more this season, I feel like normally Kornbread would just get loads of passes for having a great personality so I like that their asking her to show more already. I probably would’ve put Orion in the bottom this week but I sorta like that some of the queens considered more front runners are getting lower placements to make the series overall a bit less predictable. A big issue with the last couple seasons was that for the first part of the series it felt like it was always the same queens in the bottom so glad that’s not the case

Yes, if I was doing JLo look I would've done the Get Right video with the cane. I bet they were all trying to avoid the lowcut kimono though and thinking of more unusual things.

Kerri said they actually had to do red carpet looks not music video or movies for some reason, they all had to submit the looks for approval too so they didn't have a Madonna kimono situation :lol:

 

I don't see the point in doing a runway around someone if you can't do a lot of the looks people actually remember!

I don't think Kerri or Alyssa should've been bottom two! I'd have gone for a Jorgeous and Orion bottom two with Orion leaving! She's just not really giving me anything to root for, whereas Alyssa has felt very overlooked this series! She didn't do the best this episode but certainly not the worst and her runways have been impeccable! Was quite surprised they placed Kornbread low when her performance viewed through a different lense could've been a high placement! Makes things a bit more interesting as I thought she might've been given a pass as they want her to do well.

 

Very happy for Angeria winning, her and Willow have dominated and rightfully so! Haven't disagreed with any of their top placements so far and they're just exciting to watch!

omg. deja skye saying "i was born at a very young age" has to be one of the f***ing FUNNIEST things anyone's ever said on drag race!!!! legitimately screamed! really enjoying this cast. i don't think kerri/alyssa should have been bottom at all? jorgeous and orion please with orion going!

DeJa is getting so overlooked by the fandom, I hope this is the start of her smashing and getting recognition! I feel like she'll be great at improv and scripted acting.

I loved that Deja part as well but it was pretty much a complete rip off of Bomanizer’s Drag Race parody TikTok from last year :lol: I noticed as soon as I saw it. I mean the video has 600k likes so it could just be a coinsidence but it’s like the same joke

I'm sure she used it intentionally as a reference, no different to the others using previous Drag Race moments imo

should truly have been orion / jorgeous / alyssa in the bottom 3. there were SO many queens that could have been top that i would have preferred to see over angeria and willow too. camden / bosco / maddy all did great and would have been good to have a different winner!

 

also think i’m becoming a maddy stan lolll. she’s performing straightness in drag and it’s so mindf***y i’m obsessed. it’s high art and u can quote me on that.

Kornbread being so triggered by Jasmine that she feels like it's her place to tell Jasmine what to do and what to say and how to act every single moment is f***ing unsettling but doesn't surprise me given what she shared from her past.

 

If they keep at it, Jasmine will come out with a villain/butt of the joke edit that she doesn't deserve in the slightest and Kornbread will be seen as a hero that sometimes makes silly mistakes (but never actually apologizes for them).
