ohhhh really wanted Yard Act at #1... well more than anything I didn't want Y&Y at #1, think they've cheated a tiny tiny bit

but I think in a way they shoot themselves in the foot cos now they ruined any chance of a future GH...

Biography

Seemingly out of nowhere, young Perth based producer Christian Benson aka Luude has quickly risen to the forefront of a new wave of artists in australia. Uploading his first track to Soundcloud only a little over a year ago, Luude has taken very listen time in making a name for himself. Gaining early support and co-sings from some of the biggest names in the game - Skrillex, RL Grime, Getter, Borgore, The Chainsmokers, Marshmello, and Jauz regularly championing Luude on the biggest stages in the world and that has opened the doors to thousands of new fans who are now dying to see this enigmatic young producer in the flesh. The past few months have seen Luude release singles which have received millions of hits across all platforms and critical acclaim from reputable media. The entirely independent Luude 2.0 remix project has been met with an equal amount of fanfare with thousands of new fans visiting the account every day. The online hype quickly spilled into the offline world with Luude embarking on a huge 27 date headline Australia / New Zealand tour - which include some of the biggest venues in the territory selling out months in advance. The kids shows no signs of slowing down with a packed festival schedule and Asia and U.S dates in his sights for 2018. - Spin Artist Agency

Biography

There’s a lovely moment a little ways into Apple Music’s Songwriter documentary about Ed Sheeran in which Sheeran, jet-lagged and carrying a cup of tea, straggles out into a yard in Malibu at dawn, sits down at his laptop and begins writing a song about the moment right in front of him: the crisp air, the birdsong, the hot tea, the day ahead. He gets a full verse in, melody and all, then pauses. “Songs are weird things,” he says. “How so?” an interviewer asks. “They just come and go,” Sheeran says, smiling. “And they never give you any warning.” For Sheeran, they seem to come pretty reliably. Born in 1991 in Halifax, England, he started out gigging on the UK pub circuit before releasing his first studio album, +, in 2011, and has since become one of the most unstoppable singer-songwriters in music, forging a light blend of folk, pop, hip-hop and dance that feels slick but lived-in, intimate but universal. Whether on his own (“Sing”, “The A Team”, “Shape of You”, “Perfect”) or in collaboration with artists from Taylor Swift to Eminem to Justin Bieber, Sheeran has a unique ability to strike a chord that feels both bittersweet and redemptive, good-natured and genuine: the hopeless romantic who convinces you he might just be right. In 2017, he was made a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, touching Prince Charles on the arm while shaking his hand—a breach of royal protocol, and an appealingly human one at that. - Apple Music

The new version of Down Under gets better with every listen.

And Yay for another play of Overpass Graffiti!!

I'm actually quite enjoying Hazey - it's nice to hear some different regional accents in rap, rather than the standard South London. Plus I find the drums in the song to be almost hypnotic

Absolutely, the things he raps about are more regional too, something different!

I love Olly Alexander for many reasons, but he’s taken a few lessons from Ed Sheeran about how to get an undeserved #1, let’s be honest. Nothing wrong with playing the game though!
Can't wait till 'The Joker and the Queen' with Taylor Swift is out. Valentines day is it?

Biography

“I'm an English boy, but I'm so bloody lit!” Those words arrive part of the way through ArrDee’s guest verse on the remix of Russ Million and Tion Wayne’s spring 2021 single, “Body”, and they served as the bright neon-sign advertisement for a charismatic new British rapper. ArrDee’s cameo on that track lasted less than 30 seconds, but its saucy sexual innuendo (not to mention the sharp pink sweatsuit/Burberry scarf combo he wore in the accompanying video) was enough to make him an instant viral sensation. The Brighton-based MC (born Riley Davies in 2002) wasted no time capitalising on his big breakout moment by dropping the Dickens-inspired “Oliver Twist” that June, reaffirming his flair for colourful, distinctly British storytelling that recalls a young Mike Skinner. But for all his rapid success, ArrDee credits his hometown for keeping him humble—and inspired. “In Brighton, it’s different than London—we say thank you to the bus driver, everyone says hello to everybody,” he tells Apple Music. “Even when I got to the clubs, they try to put me in VIP, but I like to be around the people. - Apple Music

Honestly as much as I love Y&Y and I was rooting for them to get #1 at the start of the week, I don't think they've played a very fair game with this. Randomly tagging some of your greatest hits on to a new album to get more streaming 'sales' is a bit tacky imo and the fact it has worked means it could be copied more often.

I love Olly Alexander for many reasons, but he’s taken a few lessons from Ed Sheeran about how to get an undeserved #1, let’s be honest. Nothing wrong with playing the game though!

The only potentially undeserved no.1 from Ed is the Ladbaby charity thing - every other no.1 Ed has had has been a long lasting genuine hit.

top 10 asap for Belters Only pls
This has a really great early 90s vibe to it!
