54. Madonna - Causing A Commotion 113pts

Writers - Madonna, Stephen Bray

Top points - Dante77 25, ready for it 22, vibe 20

It's a Madonna double with both of her songs leaving early but she still has three more to come in the second semi-final. This one was written for the soundtrack to her film 'Who's That Girl'.

Clean Bandit doing well to get as many points as that with their one voter from the first round not even voting this time!

I voted for 'Overpass Graffiti' but that may be a bit of recency bias, that also didn't really feel like it belonged here as much as I do like it. Don't think I am familiar with either of the Madonna songs.

53. Genesis - Mama 119pts

Writers - Tony Banks, Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford

Top points - King Rollo 25, marcinjaro 22, Lewis17 17

My own favourite number 4 bows out but I will take some satisfaction in Genesis finishing above two Madonna songs in a Buzzjack poll. Mama is the opening track on their eponymous twelfth studio album and is still their only UK top five single.

Overpass Graffiti is lovely but still just missed my votes - I think I have anti-recency bias if anything. Those Madonna songs are not highlights of hers at all for me and I wasn’t familiar with the Genesis one but didn’t love it when listening through.
Apart from Overpass Grafitti, not sure I even know any of the ones to have fallen so far. Looking at everyone's votes coming in, I'm worried that Nancy Boy was well on track for the final but then votes for it dried up in the last few days - only time will tell!

Same. Songs need time to grow into classics so I automatically tend to favour older songs in these votes. (Having said that, 'Overpass Graffiti' is my least favourite of Ed's recent singles anyway!)

52. Britney Spears - Overprotected 124pts

Writers - Max Martin, Rami

Top points - Nick F1 24, Alex! 18, vibe 18

From 2002, this was Britney's eighth top 5 single.

One out so far. Not surprised and was expecting my Ed vote to depart quickly !

Madonna’s supremacy back then and for a good while after. She really was my first female obsession, paving the way for many more to come. Even though I wasn’t around for those earlier tracks, when I became a Madonna fan, I went back and purchased all of her albums :)

51. Ariana Grande - God Is A Woman 139pts

Writers - Ariana Grande, Ilya Salmanzadeh, Max Martin, Savan Kotecha, Rickard Göransson

Top points - ready for it 25, AaronTM 23, Brer 22

Sixteen years on, another song co-written by the prolific Max Martin. It was written for Camila Cabello who didn't feel it was right for her. Instead, it became a sixth top 5 single for Ariana Grande.

50. Arctic Monkeys - Leave Before The Lights Come On 146pts

Writer - Alex Turner

Top points - Grandwicky 25, Nick F1 25, Dorothea 25

Arctic Monkeys' third single and the first not to reach number 1. Three voters gave their maximum score to this one, making up more than half its points total.

49. Celine Dion - The Power Of Love 148pts

Writers - Gunther Mende, Candy DeRouge, Jennifer Rush, Mary Susan Applegate

Top points - mikerobe1984 24, ready for it 23, vibe 21

Celine Dion's version of the Jennifer Rush song from 1985 was her first solo top 40 single in the UK.

I love the Leave Before the Lights Come On video. I’m of the generation that briefly thought that the Arctic Monkeys were going to be the new Beatles so fully expected it to debut at #1 (particularly as it hadn’t come from WPSIA) 😂

48. Paul Woolford & Diplo featuring Kareen Lomax - Looking For Me 148pts

Writers - Naji Kareen Lomax, Paul Woolford, Philip Meckseper, Thomas Wesley Pentz

Top points - Mark223 25, Daan 24, Jason 22

Paul Woolford is the second act from Yorkshire to feature today. This is his only top 40 single while it is one of two number 4s for Diplo. It has the same points score and number of votes as The Power Of Love and so wins the tie-break by having one 25 point score.

Aww 'God is a woman' </3 I think its popularity on here has dipped a bit since 2018 (see: it knocking Ariana out of the AF Idol competition last year also -_-) but at least it made it past the first round, when up against a lot of classics. It didn't quite make my top 5 but I still gave it double figures - my favourite Ari song

Looking For Me is my first big loss though not unexpected. One of my favourites of 2020.

Overprotected is a great slice of early 00s pop.

BuzzJack needs to put some more respect on 'God is a woman'. x

Surprised to see 'Overprotected' so low, I didn't vote for it but I think it's probably among Britney's better songs for me!

the Arctics one the best of the lot, together with Causing a Commotion, always had a soft spot for it and even randomly found and bought the 7" single recently
Yeah Arctics definitely the best of that bunch and the first big casualty!

47. Dodgy - Good Enough 161pts

Writer - Nigel Clark

Top points - Jester 25, jimwatts 22, RabbitFurCoat 18

From 1996, this was the Hounslow band's only top 10 single. It was also the last of a run of eight singles where each one peaked higher than the one that preceded it.
