46. T'Pau - Heart And Soul 165pts

Writers - Carol Decker, Ronnie Rogers

Top points - marcinjaro 24, StoneDragon 22, Dante77 22

This was the last song to get off 0 points but it made up some ground later on. The same thing happened with the single when it was released in April 1987. It failed to chart until it became a big hit in the US in August of the same year after being used in a Pepe jeans advertisement over there.

From 1999, this was Jennifer Lopez's debut single. It spent five weeks at number 1 in her own country. It was one of the two songs that finished one point ahead of the cut off point in the first round.

poor T'Pau, such an underrated band <3 Heart and Soul is a great single

'Club Tropicana' snuck into my votes, it's good fun *.*

'The Look Of Love' wasn't far off, I do prefer 'Poison Arrow' (an easy inclusion if we ever get to #6s I'm sure :P), but a good song nevertheless

From 1996, this was the Hounslow band's only top 10 single. It was also the last of a run of eight singles where each one peaked higher than the one that preceded it.

A bit off topic but I've always wondered who has the longest run of singles where each one peaked higher than the last. I know Travis also had a run of eight such singles but there must be someone who's done better than that!

'If You Had My Love' & 'The Look of Love' both good tracks falling out there. I do prefer 'Waiting For Tonight' in terms of J Lo's 1999 songs though but both are enjoyable.

That's a really good question, I think Travis had 7, they slipped from Tied to the 90s to Happy but did it x7 from More than us to Sing:

U96 girls/40

All I want to do is rock/39

Tied to the 90s/30

Happy/38

More than us/16

Writing to reach you/14

Driftwood/13

Why does it always rain on me/10

Turn/8

Coming around/5

Sing/3

All About Eve had 6:

Our Summer/87

Flowers in Our Hair/81

In the Clouds/47

Wild Hearted Woman/33

Every Angel/30

Martha’s Harbour/10

but cannot think of anyone else?

R.E.M. had 8 if you count them by date of original release and their peaks within the album campaigns (therefore Stand's eventual peak of #48 slots in between the #50 of Finest Worksong and the #28 of Orange Crush, but the original peaks of It's The End... and The One I Love are retained since their re-releases came many years later and by which time the run had already been broken).

'Happy' to 'Sing' is 8, not 7 (you have to count both songs, similar to how we get 8 for Dodgy and how you got 6 for All About Eve).

That's a little tenuous but I guess

Oasis also had 6 (their first 6 singles) but that run ended with a #1 so they couldn't really go any further!

for me Travis is 7, but I mean new peaks in a row

cos before Happy at 38, they peaked at 30 with Tied to the 90s...

but I guess everybody can interpret it how they want...

REM sure doesn't count lol :D

Wendell Gee/91

It’s the end of the world as we know it/87

The one I love/51

Finest songwork/50

Stand/51

Orange crush/28

Stand/48 (re-issue)

Losing my Religion/19

Shiny Happy People/6

but sure Oasis does:

Supersonic/31

Shakermaker/11

Live forever/10

Cigarettes and alcohol/7

Whatever/3

Some might say/1
