No One Kiss either

'Seventeen Going Under' knocking 'Starlight' out of the top 10 :') (mind, I guess it'd be getting knocked out by a much older song very soon if not for that lol)

Teenage Dream (álbum)?

Teenage Dream (álbum)?

It’s #83 in the 2022 YTD list. I’ve asked Vidcapper if he has sales but guessing it must have done something like 40k in 2022 and around 1.6m total.

The YTD Top 40 only containing 9 albums actually released in 2022 is a bit of a sad reflection on what the albums chart is like these days.

1 2 294,000 294,000 Harry Styles Harry's House 02/06/22 1

13 12 107,200 107,200 Weeknd Dawn FM 20/01/22 1

39 39 63,000 63,000 Wet Leg Wet Leg 21/04/22 1

Years & Years' presence as one of this year's top selling albums is also a bit artificial considering it was boosted by the inclusion older hits.

Only 15 of the top 40 in the singles as well. And in the top 10 only As It Was was released in 2022. #2 to #10 were all released on 2021 apparrently.

Hopefully Dance Monkey doesn't make it, what number is it currently?

#91 with about 270k vs 257k for #100. At the moment it’s selling at about the same rate that the bar for #100 is increasing and it has a bit of a cushion, so I think it has a good chance of staying in.

At this stage it’s mostly more recent songs whose streams have dried up that are dropping out rather than the oldies.

Songs that have dropped out since the end of June:

Dos Oruguitas

Used to this

Out out

Better days

Waiting on a miracle

Numb little bug

Heartbreak anthem

My universe

Little bit of love

Traitor

Wonder if Kate Bush could have the 2nd biggest single of 2022? That would have been unbelievable 12 months ago.

She could maybe get as high as #5 but she is dropping off now (though holding up incredibly well for an 80s song of course). She’ll be doing similar weekly numbers to Bad Habits and Heat Waves before long I think.

Wonder if Kate Bush could have the 2nd biggest single of 2022? That would have been unbelievable 12 months ago.

To be honest Bad Habits being the 2nd biggest single of 2022 would also be unbelievable 12 months ago.

It is funny looking back at some of the flop/underperformance comments at the time. Can’t underestimate Ed’s ability to promote and sell over a long period. Those 99p cds for chart stability were a good investment.

Rooting for Kate to be top 5 by end of year.

On the other hand, Mr Brightside is too close to the top 20 for my liking.

Yeh it’s undoubtably been a massive hit as was ‘Shivers’ which is the better of the two imo. Think the comments on here were just a general dislike of the artist than anything else as it was thought he should have done 200k in a week!
The Bad Habits first week sales debate is brought up a lot and often out of context. I don't think the long-term success changes the fact that its first week sales were a little less than expected (not catastrophically so), and this was a point made by more than just those who "dislike" him (I'm a fan of both Ed and Bad Habits and I was definitely a little surprised that it had a comparatively slower start than previous Ed leads). Obviously nobody's going to deny how massive it became regardless...
