The show was doing such a great job of convincing me that this storyline was about Jay and Lola, but no, it's just the trailer for Ben Mitchell's next storyline.

I enjoyed Maria Friedman in the role but I am absolutely loving Harriet Thorpe! I was immediately sold in tonight's episode. Definitely has similarities to the previous characterisation but Harriet is perfect for being front and center as landlady of The Vic. Maybe getting ahead of myself but I feel like she could fill that Peggy-shaped void!

After Roxy's cameo the other week, I'm disappointed the UK's 1991 Eurovision entry didn't turn up at The Albert.

Cheryl Baker in EastEnders... I was looking forward to this and it was okay. They could have given her more lines, but they probably didn't want her to fluff them and have to keep doing reshoots.

The Bucks Fizz tribute with all of Making Your Mind Up being at least played (if not shown) was good.

And every scene with music in the background was by a Eurovision artist. Nice touch.

We'll see how we go with Elaine... she was alright, but a little too Queen of the Pub for me. Just tone the dramatics down a teeny bit please.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. I think I'll grow to like to like her over the coming weeks/months, but that introduction was all a little too OTT/cringe for me.

That’s what sold her as Elaine to me. She was always dramatic.

Enough said with these clips, Elaine has always been a bit dramatic so they've managed to carry that vibe on pretty well with the recast

Lola  that was a tough watch. 💔

I liked that the anniversary of Peggy’s passing was discussed, a nice continuity nod.

Yeah, that last scene was pretty heart wrenching.

Tough couple of weeks ahead, I think.

That was one of the best episode for a long time, on point acting from both actors, and it was very tearful to watch, loved it.

Danielle Harold is absolutely taking that Best Leading Performer award at the British Soap Awards isn’t she.

She’s absolutely smashed this story. I still don’t feel like they should have axed the character but one thing about an exit like this is that she’s absolutely showcased her talents in a way she wouldn’t had she had a quick shock stunt style death.

I think I quietly cried for nearly the whole episode, to be honest.

What I like about this is that Danielle Harold was told she was being axed, but rather than her just leaving quite quickly it has been a long storyline. She has embraced it and in return producers have given her a two-hander episode, which I think is quite rare. In a way I wonder if they regret their choice to kill the character off.

This was touching and beautful and heartbreaking and lovely all in one.

Lola’s definitely a popular character going off EEs account on socials across posts I see but maybe in a way that’s why they chose Lola for this story because we care about her and Danielle was capable of pulling it off.

It would’ve been lovely to see Lola beat this Brain Tumour and get a happy ending as she did deserve one but this story has been so impactful one of the best stories they’ve done (possibly ever). I hope she gets other work off the back of this as she absolutely could lead any ITV/BBC/Netflix style drama after doing a story like this well she could do anything!

I remember when i first heard the news of them axing (and killing her off) and it was rumoured she was going to die in a car crash whilst that would’ve been awful I don’t think it would have had anywhere near the impact as this the good thing about this story for Danielle is that she’s leaving the show after showcasing her acting talent at the very best it’s been whilst she’s been on the show. I think Danielle was sadly always underused on the show though especially in this second stint :(
