March 31, 20223 yr love Open Your Heart, Madonna at her poppies and best, and the video is iconic Happier than Ever is incredible such an emotional song, those lyrics can't believe so many people gave it a 1 :/
March 31, 20223 yr I Say A Little Prayer For You must be one of the most well known songs of its genre ever. If the poll had been most iconic rather than favourite #4 hit that might have been my 50. I still haven’t fully made up my mind whether Happier Than Ever is a work of genius or two average songs stuck together. I do enjoy listening to it but it was only about 1/4 of the way up the list for me. That’s definitely the better Madonna song - surprised there wasn’t a larger gap between them actually.
March 31, 20223 yr Happier Than Ever is in my top 3 songs from last year. Rare these days for something that reaches the UK Top 10 to be one of my songs of the year. But this is just class, it grabbed me on the first listen and still sounds as good hundreds of plays later.
March 31, 20223 yr 'I Say A Little Prayer' was, shamefully, also among the 11 songs that I didn't recognise well enough and needed to relisten before voting - I did recognise it when I heard it though so I must have heard it before, I know it's an iconic song but am just not quite as familiar with it as I am with a few of her other classics. Is that the oldest song and the newest song finishing back to back then? 'Happier Than Ever' was tough to rank against predominantly much more established songs but I think it is going to age really well. (Unlike the higher charting song from this Billie album which I think already just feels like a fairly forgettable retread of 'bad guy', there were definitely quite a few better songs on the album). 'Open Your Heart' I also hadn't heard before, it wasn't outright bad like the other Madonna song was but it also wasn't anything particularly special. Decent but not a highlight of her discog. That and lack of familiarity meant it also ranked pretty lowly for me as I did like the majority of the songs on the list.
April 1, 20223 yr I love 'Open Your Heart', a USA#1, and I'm so surprised it only got to #4 in the UK (It got a little caught up in the Christmas singles rush) - it's a great pop song, supported by a truly iconic video...

April 1, 20223 yr Oh yes, I forgot about The Ronettes. Close though. Is it just me who had never heard either of those Madonna songs before?

With both songs having one 50 point score, it wins a tie-break over Waterfalls by having one 48 point score. akhmS1D2Ce4

April 1, 20223 yr Ooft, there goes my 50, at least they have one more to come. Still probably my favourite song, always gets to me
April 1, 20223 yr Happy to see 'Fix You' in the top half (and 'Yellow' as well). dandy* that score is unacceptable xx
April 1, 20223 yr I truly hate Fix You! I just think it’s so fake in terms of emotion, I don’t buy it for one second.
April 1, 20223 yr I’m not too keen on Fix You either and I like Coldplay in general; something slightly contrived about it. Waterfalls is another on the horribly overplayed on local radio during childhood pile. Summertime Sadness is lovely; reminds me of that particular summer in 2013 really strongly.
April 1, 20223 yr I really don't know enough of Bruce's discography but I do love 'Dancing In The Dark' - clicked with me immediately upon first hearing it a couple of years ago. I adore The Prodigy in general and that of course includes 'No Good (Start The Dance)' <3 love the manic energy even if it's a tough one to keep up with at clubbercise classes  'Happier Than Ever' has done so well for a song from the current decade :o it really stood out for miles in the chart in the best way - what an intense ride. I'm glad it was so popular after her success was showing some signs of cooling down with some of the pre-album singles. I am on the positive team for 'Fix You', I can understand why people might be turned off by it but I really enjoy the way it builds both vocally and instrumentally. I was a huge 'Summertime Sadness (Remix)' stan back when it came out, was a multi-week #1 in my chart, but I overplayed it to death and needed a while to cool off from it. I don't think I'll ever quite reclaim that level of love from 2013 (unlike many other unremixed Lana singles) but I've reached a place where I'd happily put it on again now.
April 1, 20223 yr Fix You is so patronising and condescending, fix yourself Chris Martin instead of Gwenyth :D Lana did well enough, it's not a bad remix but the original is so much better Waterfalls is ok, was never the biggest TLC fan although their songs are cool
April 1, 20223 yr That and lack of familiarity meant it also ranked pretty lowly for me as I did like the majority of the songs on the list. Everyone's new least favourite word after yesterday's Wordle :D I'm not huge on Coldplay in general but they've usually had at least one great song per album and Fix You is one of those - the bridge after the second chorus lifts the whole thing. The Summertime Sadness remix is fine but it's the original which got my points.
April 2, 20223 yr Author 23. Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina - Stereo Love 1213pts Writers - Victoria Corneva, Eduard Ilie, Eldar Mansurov Top scores - JackJones 50, Daan 50, Mandali Cow 49 Low scores - Shoat 2, StoneDragon 2, Mango 2 Average score - 25.8 With the accordion riff played by Edward Maya himself, this is still the only hit single for either him or Vika Jigulina. Azerbaijani composer Eldar Mansurov got a co-writing credit after pointing out the similarity between Stereo Love and his song 'Bayatilar'. Two 50 point scores ensure that this wins a tie-break over 'Fix You'. p-Z3YrHJ1sU
