I collect the Now’s that my 2 favourite artists are included on, they are on the Yearbook and before I drop £50 on the vinyl and CD do the Yearbooks hold their price for a while or do they generally get reduced - just trying to work out if to buy now or wait a bit!

I prefer the CDs to vinyls as they are easier to rip onto a computer and transfer to a USB stick. You can still do it with vinyl but you have to play the whole album in order to rip it. I barely bother with Now nowadays. The only time I’ll ever buy a Now is if it’s the numbered series, millennium series or yearbook series

I think the vinyl holds about two thirds of its price, I see them go on eBay for about £22-£24, when they sell new for about £10 more than that. I doubt the CD holds its price, but I think the Extras do (or at least the first few have), as they quickly go out of print.

Thank you! Will hold off for a bit and hopefully not have to pay full price

Picked up a couple of editions of Now Millennium Series at a record shop last week for £1 each - 1983 and 1999!

Anyone else got 1999? The version of Ronan Keating's When You Say Nothing At All is one I've never heard before. It doesn't sound acoustic or live, but like a demo or an alternative version. Curious that it found its way onto here, but it does happen. The 1993 album that I don't have apparently has some rare mix of Pet Shop Boys' Go West, another Swedish compilation I have has an otherwise unreleased version of Pixie Lott's Mama Do with more Europop style production. I guess sometimes labels submit the incorrect versions to compilers.

Yeah, I’ve got 1999 from way back when. I always thought that version of WYSNAA was an odd choice over the usual version.

I have good memories of that series, some of my first forays into Now! Now 41 being my first of course.

I’ve got Nows 1988, 1989, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999 from that collection. My brother definitely had 1994 but I can’t find it now!

I have another Now 1994 that I think was released at the end of 1994, so they have that original series, the Millennium Series, a digital only series for each year that was released on iTunes in the 2010s but has since been taken down (this spanned 1980-2012), and now the current Yearbook format.

Interestingly, that deleted digital series is still on Spotify, but not searchable on Spotify itself, however the albums can still be found on Google, with a link through to Spotify, so I compiled them all into a playlist this summer so you can see the differences and what tracks were included on these curious releases (all with their own artwork):

The one that was released at the end of 1994 and the 1995 version that was released a year later, I class them both as part of the 10th anniversary series. I have that one and the millennium edition from 1999. The 10th anniversary editions were better as they also licensed the Warner and Sony tracks which never appeared on the millennium editions

Well… someone’s going to say it eventually… Beatles for Now 117? :kink:

That won’t happen as they never license their music but would be good if they did appear. Now - The Summer Album from 1986 is the only Now compilation which they have appeared on

Just the occasional tracks by Paul McCartney and John Lennon on Now 45 that’s about it as far as I am aware.

John Lennon only had one Now appearance when Imagine re-entered the chart in late 1999 and he had another hit post-Now in early 1984 called Nobody Told Me but missed Now 2. Paul appears whenever he has a big hit and Ringo and George never licensed their solo material onto compilations hence why Got My Mind Set On You missed Hits 7 and Now 10. Paul’s last Now appearance was on Now 67 in 2007 with Dance Tonight. And also with Olivia Rodrigo, I reckon Can’t Catch Me Now will miss Now 117 and Get Him Back! will be included instead

Still no announcement for Now Yearbook 88 Extra then. I wonder if we will have to wait until next year now while they focus on Now 116 and Now 16 reissues.

They normally announce a new Now album on a Thursday so it might be announced tomorrow. Whenever a yearbook is released, the extra yearbook usually follows about 5 or 6 weeks later

1986: 24th February & 7th April

1978: 28th April & 9th June

1992: 7th July & 18th August

1973: 8th September & 13th October

The extra yearbook for 1986 was probably the reason why Now 114 was released later than usual as they didn’t want extra 1986 being released after 114 so both albums could get turns at #1

Just purchased Now 116 on Amazon for £11.99… seems like the cheapest I’ve seen a new main series release on release date, but I could be wrong, just shows how the value has decreased over time.

Also, I think we can say with certainty by this point that we won’t be seeing Now Yearbook 88 Extra until 2024, maybe not even up for pre-order until January at the earliest.
