I always thought that AIP is was the a side and Evergreen the b side. Nice to have Busted on there but shame they aren’t on discs 3 or 4 seeing as they had 4 hits in 2003. And as for Now 116, I wonder if they’ll include a song from Ed Sheeran’s current album or upcoming album

They were both A Sides as it was a Double A Side.
It’s nice to see songs on there which never appeared on the Hits series or Now series but shame No Doubt aren’t on there as they had 3 hits in 2002. I’m looking forward to Now Millennium 2004-2005 in the future. Hopefully, that gets released before 2024
Didn’t we have this on CD last year?

I’ll leave that. They’re starting to run the well dry on the 80s, is there even anything on here that hasn’t shown up on some other Now spin-off in the last couple of years? Time to move on I fear (after completing the Yearbooks from the decade).

They should only release 80s spin-offs as long as they finish off the 80s yearbooks (1987-1989)

We don’t need anymore of these. They could’ve at least released it a week earlier so we can get Now Yearbook Extra 1973 on that day instead. The 12" 80s years are probably the reason why they’ve abandoned the 80s yearbooks

Certainly it helps having shorter tracks to get more songs onto each disc, and I’ve never been able to manage 27 tracks into the space of 80 minutes before! :o But realistically there are two more months to go of new releases, of which Ed Sheeran is one such name to put out new music before then, so anything could change, and the #1 for the next few weeks is uncertain given the recent fluctuation in the charts.

Other possibilities at time of prediction;

Billy Gillies feat. Hannah Boleyn – DNA (Loving You)

Byron Messia – Talibans

Dermot Kennedy – Don’t Forget Me

Gunna – fukumean

Jessie Ware & Róisín Murphy – Freak Me Now

J Hus feat. Drake – Who Told You

Jung Kook feat. Largo – Seven

Kenya Grace – Strangers

Miley Cyrus – River

Miley Cyrus – Used To Be Young

Stephen Sanchez – Until I Found You

SZA – Snooze

Zara Larsson – End Of Time

Upcoming New Releases:

*NSync – TBA

Sugababes – When The Rain Comes

Take That – TBA

With Miley Cyrus, they’ll more likely skip Jaded in favour of Used To Be Young and I can’t see Dave being on there as he ain’t been on there since Now 101 and I think he’s a bit funny when it comes to licensing. Jungkook isn’t on the list and there’s more chance of him appearing over Dave but other than that, it looks good

I suspect Now want to play on the 50 year anniversary with the 1973 Yearbook, plus 70s music is quite a lucrative market for them and it's just in time for the festive season. I'll probably buy this but I can't say I'm particularly excited about it. Interesting to see the two recurrent Christmas classics stuck on the end though and not relegated to the Extra.

I don't think they'll ever get the license for Pet Shop Boys for the Yearbooks sadly :( PSB are very firm on the types of compilations they appear on, and compendiums of a year/decade are not usually their forté.

I did buy this and listened to it in the car yesterday and actually really enjoyed it.

Can't say I've ever listened to a lot of the songs on here - Bowie's The Laughing Gone is crazy, Deodato's Also Sprach Zarathustra is a good take on the 2001 music, and I had never heard Strawbs' Part Of The Union, interesting that a track with that subject matter reached No.2 in the charts - still felt quite relevant to today tbh. I also enjoyed the final disc - Olivia Newton-John, the Luxembourg Eurovision winner and Cliff's UK entry, and the actually great Eye Level, which I'd heard of by name but hadn't ever listened to. Just shows how diverse the charts were at this time. Hearing the Christmas trio at the end was entertaining with the sun shining in 30 degree heat too.

I reckon on Thursday, they’re gonna announce Now Yearbook Extra 1973 with a release date of 27th October. If that’s so, then they should swap the release dates of that and Now 12" 1981 around as three weeks after 27th October will be 17th November which is when we’re meant to be due Now 116. They will never release a yearbook at the same time as a numbered Now and I wonder what spin-off they’ll be doing to celebrate their 40th anniversary?

Interesting tracklist, good idea to leave Monster Mash for the end of the release coming out just before Halloween.

Slade and Wizzard both getting four hits from the year across the main album and the Extra.

Surprised Step Into Christmas didn't find its way onto either release.

Surprised Step Into Christmas didn't find its way onto either release.

Same here seeing as it still appears on Xmas compilations. I’m also surprised that this is being released 5 weeks after the first yearbook seeing as there’s normally 6 weeks between a yearbook and an extra yearbook. I just hope that on their next yearbook that they go back to the 80s, even if it’s 1988 or 1989

Starting to see scope for quite a few vintage artists making a case for an appearance on the next Now volume with new and upcoming releases;

*NSync

Busted

Duran Duran

Libertines

Rolling Stones

S Club

Sugababes

Take That

Texas

Maybe others will make a late surge for the Christmas markets this year, but I do wonder how many of these names will show up in the official tracklisting.

Seeing as we have 3 Olivia Rodrigo songs at the moment, I reckon it will be Vampire and Bad Idea Right on Now 116 with Get Him Back being saved for Now 117 or Vampire only on Now 116 and the other 2 on Now 117
Been thinking about the next edition too, if The Rolling Stones make the cut with 'Angry' (based on the strength of a top 40 chart result and a spot on the Radio 2 playlist) then satisfyingly their last appearance in the series was 29 years ago on Now 29 :P ('Love Is Strong') - rooting for that return after a long absence

They might have a chance as they still appear frequently on compilations
