Lol at Drake featuring on a Future album track titled 'I'M ON ONE' when he already had a hit with the same title (featuring on DJ Khaled's song, albeit that one not being all caps). Looks like it won't be charting in the UK anyway but will no doubt be hos second charting song in the US with that title.

Imagine if Like A Prayer was added to Hot Hits UK .... would they ever add a live cover ?

I'm not sure about her going viral, but I do know she got added to a bunch of playlists in the last week which has helped her climb a lot, particularly in the US (It's risen to #52 so far there!). It was added to Happy hits at #3 (5.8 million likes). It was also added to pop rising at #4 (2.4 mil likes) with Lizzo as the cover and also added to Hot Hits USA (~650k likes) at #15. Both of those updated yesterday and she's down to #9 on Pop rising but up to #8 on Hot Hits USA. She's also at #5 on The Pop List (~700k likes). Plus there are likely a number of other playlists she's been added to.

 

I'm hoping if she will get added to Today's Top Hits and Hot Hits UK soon. Those two would help her a lot!

 

Edit: Just noticed she's #59 on UK Apple Music - doing well there! She just re-entered the top 200 on Apple music in the US despite all the new releases there and is up to #171 there so far. Certainly looks like she's getting good playlist support there too now.

I'm genuinely confused about what happened with ROOM FOR 2 when this doesn't feel any more hyped, but no complaints to see this doing so well, I'm glad it's looking to be another top 100 if nothing else to his name. Hoping Spotify brings it a decent debut tomorrow!

Really strong showing from Future, interested to see how he does on Spotify tomorrow - his last album in 2020 only had 4 songs in the top 100 on its first day, one of which was the already established 'Life Is Good', and the third highest song only being #85. I expect he's the type of artist that will do worse on Spotify than on Apple but still likely he'll have a much bigger splash than that album made (similar to Gunna's album earlier this year) which is interesting considering that album was released off the back of his biggest UK hit to date while this one has dropped without any singles at all, I feel like I have seen a lot more buzz about this album for some reason though so I'm not too surprised. Over in the US he has 16 of the top 17, Jack Harlow currently preventing the sweep by hanging on at #15. Lil Baby also has another new song out but the US Apple audience seems to be too distracted by Future as it's 'only' #23 so far, still behind both of his singles from the other week.

 

Benson Boone having the highest non-Future new entry is definitely unexpected but why not x Had never heard of Jvck James and was assuming it was just some random house artist being pushed by Apple but I looked him up and he is apparently an R&B artist.

That's a lot of new peaks, unfortunately most of those (Benson Boone's new entry one of the exceptions) are down to the sudden disappearance of several songs from the upper reaches of this chart since Monday. These include Baby which was at #3, both versions of Go (#10 & #32), and First Class, BMW, Night Away (Dance), Reggae & Calypso, Glad U Came, 10 Things I Hate About You and Flowers from the top 40, none of which I've seen in the top 100 since.

 

At first I thought this was a blip, but if this had been intended and especially if they've been moved to their own chart somewhere, that would be quite a backward step from Amazon - the Encanto songs disappeared in a similar manner in January (We Don't Talk About Bruno soon returned and was #1 & #2 for a while but has since gone again), but that's a little more understandable. Unless it's fixed, I'll pause these updates for a while.

 

I've found another page which has the Top 50 Most Played on Amazon and is updated weekly. This one does contain all the songs listed above - in fact it looks suspiciously like the official chart, to the point where the top 6 are the same, and the likes of Where Are You Now and Cold Heart have some sort of 'ACR' applied as they're still considerably higher in Amazon's daily chart. It also says "Curated by Amazon's Music Experts" (rather than, say, a computer to just count what people are streaming) - so it may turn out to be equally meaningless, but I'll keep my eye on it for now.

Bieber is really underperforming so far, and Sam Smith too to some extent.

 

Bit hard to say before we've even gotten a first day Spotify update.
